Incognito was mistake to let go
High Mark replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was a RESTRICTED FA. Again, he was a RESTRICTED FA. Everyone seems to forget this. He didn’t have a choice – it was Buffalo or hold out if the Bills so choosed. We could have tendered him with a 3rd and let him walk if another team wants to give us a 3rd for him. You can beat your arse the Pattsies would have tendered the guy and gotten better, but not the Bills, we let a great starting caliber OLman leave for jack crap. I disagree completely. Hangman was atrocious last season from the first snap of the season to the last. He was routinely bowled over and IMO was worse than either T spot. The football outsiders or some other site graded him as 32 of 32 for all the centers in the league – aka LAST. This year he hasn’t been nearly as bad - but I sure wouldn’t say good. To say the interior OL was far down the list doesn’t properly reflect just how devoid of starting talent and depth we were/still are at the position. No one could truthfully say the Bills are better without a tendered Incognito. -
The underlying problems with Bills shows again
High Mark replied to Niagara Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am so tired of seeing Whitner (and Byrd for that matter) running into the TV screens picture just after the receiver catches another pass for a TD or Big gain. It was so blatantly evident to me last year this team was better with Wilson on the field and I cannot fathom how the Bills – regardless of who the coach is – continues to epically fail in scouting their own dang roster. Every freaking season “Why did we cut Jim Leonard/Why is Greer no starting/Fred Jackson is so much better than A train” GW v Whitner is this years “what the heck can they be thinking???” player assessment. If you think this teams starting lineup gets worse when Whitner leaves you are sadly mistaken. The sooner GW is a starting safety for this team the better. He is a TRUE leader and guy the players respect (a big time rep to the players union, captain, and nicknamed “the senator” by his teammates) and from a friend of mine who knows him personally says he truly is a class act – and not b*tching about stuff on tweeter. Good riddance lil man, well take your salary and hopefully can bring in a real football player. -
Bills Dailey is reporting that Whinter told the media that he and the Bills are “way off” in terms of a new deal. Seems Whitner wants the money he has been making and the Bills want to pay him what he is worth – which is much less. Me, Id like to see him resigned but Id rather have GW starting, so its not a huge loss. I still could see him being tendered as he is a restricted FA with no cba. Now, Poz and Florence needs new deals much more than Whitner, so gets those done.

I would have considered Pat Williams to be elite when he left, Greer too, although I think both were under rated by the rest of the NFL. I would add Jim Leonard to a “close to elite” list and he was under rated by us and media. By that same degree, Clements and Peters were definitely thought to be elite by the rest of the NFL, but I don’t think they were and neither did most fans. But the best statement you made was that “the Bills can’t even evaluate their own roster” That is very very true. I learned something about the NFL I didn’t know before this year – that the team of Scouts that are employed by the Bills actually scout the Bills throughout TC and the season. They put in their 2 cents to the coaching staff as to who should be cut, start, etc. Now it is all starting to make sense to me – no matter who the coaching staff is, they are getting bad advice from the same scouts. They start A-train over Fred Jackson then draft Maybin over Orakpo. These guys are a big bunch of maroons. Bring back Pat Williams, Jim Leonard, Jabari Greer and see how good the team is.

No one has seemed to acknowledge that when Whitners contract is up at the end of this season he will be a RESTRICTED FA – as he has only 5 years in the league. With no CBA in place, a player needs 6 accrued season to be Unrestricted. Whitner is prob upset he won’t be getting FA money and will be tendered at a 3rd round level for about 950k - if I have my numbers right.

Kiwi is a FA too. He has played OLB and DE for the Giants and been good at both spots.
-
Why is it the Pats always beat the Bills? Tom Brady If we ever want to have the type of success the Pats ahve had this decade we need a QB like theirs, so yea, I'd say the need for a QB trumps all other things.

“Crazy” Joe Miner – is that you? 504 E. 38th Street?

Defensive Adjustments or new coordinator
High Mark replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Considering how well we have played the last 5 weeks – which is 3-4 weeks afer going to the 4-3 as the base D – we have been playing very well. I really think they have improved and have found some players in Moats and Carrington, they are letting Poz use his strengths and not exposing his weaknesses, and are finding just how great KW can be. I think sticking with a 4 man front with Moats at Sam, Poz in the middle or weakside, and adding another LB to the core is a great move. We also need some DEs desperately and Kelsay is still killing us IMO. I really liked our D alignment last week and think if we could draft Bowers or Quinn to play DE, and add another LB like Von Miler, we could be looking good. -
We have been running a 4-3 base alignment for around 8 weeks now so that is old information. On Sunday we had a little tweak and our base D was a 4-3 over alignment, with the strong side backer on the LOS in a 2 point stance – which essentially makes it a 5-2 with a stand up end. I also noticed us in this a few times other weeks but it was used so much this week it was our base D. Moats was the SAM, always on the heavy side of the line with the TE. I noticed he played great vrs the run setting the edge well and also rushed a handful of times. Ayodele was the middle and Poz was the weakside, although they are essentially playing in the same position over the Gs, just Poz is alone to pursue to the sideline as Kelsay is terrible and has never set an edge ever in his entire career, while Ayodele had Moats guarding the wide side of the field. I think Edwards is finding we play pretty well in this alignment and I feel we are really improving. Moat has really been the missing link and is playing great vrs the run and pass. PS I Maybin cannot play the SAM in this D as he cannot take on blocks and hold his ground. Teams would be able to crush us running to the strong side with Maybin at the crucial point of attack on the LOS. - -On the Browns first drive I watched Kelsay get washed inside as the weakside D end resulting in huge runs for Hillis. On a few other times throughout the game I noticed it happen again but it wasn’t such a big gain. He stinks. I am really hoping we stick to the 4-3, it is suiting us better and I think we can build a great d using a 4 man front.

Its the sideline - thats where players not on the field are suspposed to stand. The NFL has a penalty for gunners running out of bounds and not coming right back in bounds within reason. Aside from that guy clearly movving to hit the gunner - lets say the gunner just happend to run into him or went around him - the gunner gets flagged. The guys off the field have the right to be there, the gunner doesnt. they could have flagged the miami guy for continuing to run out of the field of play if they thought he deserved it. My guess is the jets hawk is supposed to block the guy to the outside of the human wall and thus force the gunner to stay out of bounds and draw a flag - not run him into a wall of humans. If that were teh case, wouldnt the line be better positions perpendiculare to the sideline and not parralell? Its a genious and legal coaching ploy if thats what it was.

Not as far away as some may think...
High Mark replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To re-word my post. We are close in the sense we lost 3 OT games vrs likely playoff teams, but we are far off in the sense that it ill take us a few years just to make up those 3 points. And even then we will be competing for wins, and not winning constantly. -
Root for Cincy, Denver, Detroit, Arizona, Dallas, SF, and any other team with 6 wins or less minus Carolina (they play Arizona and I would rather have Arizona win, as Carolina is so highly unlikely to win out, and they would have to for us to be ahead of them) I have no desire to calculate SOS, I only know that the Bills will be drafting last out of all the teams with the same record as them.

Not as far away as some may think...
High Mark replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry man, but I have to disagree – we are more than 2-3 players away. To make the playoffs, we have to beat out 2 of the other 3 teams in our division, and all the other wild card teams. Think of just how talented the jets are – they have players at every position that are better than our players. Our strongest 3 positions I would say are RB, DB, and WR – they are better in all three, plus they have a great OL and DL and LB core while ours suck a lot. We think we are very close because we went to OT with some good teams and have lost close games, but it takes a whole lot to overcome 3 points in an NFL game and losing doesn’t make you “close” to anything but the #1 overall pick. If we won half or more of those close games, and lost the other half, then we wouldn’t be as far off. But we are more than 2-3 players away from being a playoff team. We are more like 5-6 very very good players away, and considering how well we draft, itll take us 12-15 years to add 5-6 very good players, and at that point all the players we already have will have retired. -
I am really only concerned with the Pats at this point. Miami is meh, the Jets are playing like poop as of late, and NE is the best in the league. Playing a close game, win or lose, is not very promising if its played vrs Miami (a .500 team who is going to finish like a DJ bills team), Vrs the Pats is another story. Even with another win I cant see us drafting later than 5 which would be nice. I haven’t looked at it if we win a 5th game, but with 2 teams at 5 wins right now I would think 7 is as late as we could fall. Lets beat the Pats and finish 4-12
-
I agree he should have been banned for at least a year, and they should have taken all the wins away like the NCAA would have. I also dont buy the "it wasnt a big deal" argument because they destroyed teh evidence. Just ask Nixon what was on his tapes. And yes while they have been great since getting caught, they havent won a superbowl since they have been caught. Dare I say they dont win any without cheating? I sure believe that they woulkdnt have won a single one without cheating. What would the Pats be with 3 SB loses?

Does anyone else get sick of seeing the Cowboys?
High Mark replied to Mr_Blizzard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I cant stand watchin them, the eagle, Giants, Pats, or Colts anymore. I would much rather see SF or Stl. I dont even bother watching the games with those teams anymore. -
Hopefully we draft a good one in RD 2

I havent liked Hangman since he came here, and Wood was very stout in their today. The Browns had a #71 in there most of the day but subbed rogers in. Wood was holding them all day, and I have seen enough of Hangman to know he would have been pushed right into Fitz face. Wood to C is a no brainer and getting a new G named Mankins would make my day.

Amazing statistical reflections
High Mark replied to sllib olaffub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get your point but Locker is even less mediocre than Fitz. If you want to give Gailey a really talented QB to work with then its Luck. If you want to take a huge risk on Newton, ok I guess, but Id rather not. -
Im not the other teams D coordinator, but if I was, I wouldnt bother doubling Lee and I would triple cover Stevie. I doubt they still bracket Lee, he simply doesnt deserve it - at all. Just give him a good cushion and watch out for the Fly pattern. If they want to throw it to him on a short route then fine, jsut tackle him - he never makes anyone miss.

Don't Cross The Moats!
High Mark replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think its more like 1-3, and sometiems only 1-2. Moats is playing like a stud as the SAM and as a pass rusher. He was a breath of fresh air ever since he was promoted voer Maybin and everyone else. He was great today on a lot of plays. I think we can confidently pencil him in as a starter moving forward PS Kelsay was owned in the run game today. -
What if the Panthers DON'T draft Luck
High Mark replied to saundena's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Carolina doesnt draf thim the team that traded with Carolina will draft him/. -
Who would do better with the Bills Luck or Newton?
High Mark replied to Hplarrm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well you know that while you are rooting for them to win some games this year, you are in turn rooting for them to be worse next year, right? You are saying those two wins are more important to the franchise than taking 2 first, a second, and maybe a 3rd in draft picks in a trade. Meanwhile, I want to take my lumps this year and get the opportunity to truely rebuild a winner, either with Luck or the insane amount of draft picks he will bring.
