  1. As one of the biggest Anti-Mallets around, Mallet played the best game in his career last night, dating all the way back to his time at Michigan. He still looks like poop when under the slightest bit of pressure (how about the 3rd down on the first drive of the game when he stepped up to avoid an outside rush and just fell flat on his face without getting touched. I laughed.) That ball short hopped, aka “JP Losmaned” to the WR. If you haven’t seen a lot of Mallet that was easily the best he has ever played with me watching and I have watched 10ish games in his career. But when he did have a lot of time he was very accurate, something he hasn’t been in his other games I have seen. Im still not sure which guy he was throwing to on that one dropped pass in the endzone and Im not sure if Mallet even knows which one he was aiming for. I have seen enough to know that I would prefer Newton 100 times over at # 3, and there would have to be nothing at the other positions to use a 2nd rounder on Mallet. Considering there should be some very solid DL/OL/TE/LB prospects at #35 mallet shouldn’t be in consideration their either. Id rather trade for Orton and sign VY and let those two battle Fitz then bank my future on Mallet.
  2. Thats all they want? SIlly Carolina
  3. Vince Young VY is one of my favorite college players of all time and is a big reason why I became a Horns fan. sure is only 6'5'' and 240 but I don’t think that 1 inch and 10 lbs are keeping him from being a superstar QB. Its what I upstairs that matters with QBs and as long as your athletic ability is at a minimum threshold you will succeed. Cam has all the physical ability in the world but he has shown immaturity, lacks starting experience, and no fan has any clue what he has upstairs because we haven’t dissected film of him. He may be Roethisburger but he may be VY. Judging on their college careers (and not their race) Id say he has more of a chance to be VY.
  4. Im sorry I cant agree dude, this is one of the most delusional posts Ive read in a while and I spend way too much time on this site. Fitz as a SB caliber QB? Maybe for the 2000 Ravens but that’s about it. He wouldn’t be starting for a single playoff team this year if he was on one of the rosters, including the Jets and Seahawks where he would likely be 3rd string behind Hassleback (entrenched starter) and Whitehurst(young up & comer/future of franchise). Don’t forget good QBs didn’t make the playoffs too (like Rivers) We have two really good RBs? That was last year. This year we have 1 RB who will likely slow down and an unproven rookie who didn’t have a single rushing TD this season Our OL needs 2 behemoths to be decent, not dominating, Our DL needs 2 players to be great - well that’s 2/3rds of the equations when we are playing a 3-4, and why would you assume we get a good played in the draft? We haven’t done that in 10+ years. We needs 2LBs to be decent, not set, and our DBs are about to walk out the door and be decimated. Man some of you guys are nuts.... one poster even wants to trade our best player and one of the top DLman in the NFL from this season for a TE when TE is the most liquidated position in FA!!!
  5. I just heard Jesse Palmer on the Van Pelt show. He was talking the host about his conversation with Bud Foster (Va. Tech's defensive coordinator who's defenses are routinely at the top of college football) about Andrew Luck. I'm not sure if it took place before or after last nights game, but Palmer said that Foster was extremely impressed with Luck. Foster was saying that he has prepared for and coached against Farve, McNabb, A. Rogers, and M. Ryan in college and Luck was all a step above them all in physical and mental ability (they referred to those QBs by name). This is coming from an established, respected, defensive specialist who just had over a month to study tape of Luck and the Stanford O. Take that for what its worth but If Luck can be an NFL QB like any of those listed above (and according to Foster he may even be better) he would be worth trading 2 years worth of draft picks for. (please don’t pretend like we are going to find a whole bunch of playoff caliber starters in this draft and turn the team around, no other single player in the draft could help this team for the next 15 years like Luck could) ** I didn’t want to post this 5 times in the other Luck threads so I started a new one.
  6. The OP makes some very very strong points, but also forget some key ones too: - Without a new CBA, Whitner remains a RESTRICTED free agent. This also holds true for Poz and Youboty. I am not certain but it may even pertain to GW too, he was a RFA only 1 year ago. This will be an issue with the new CBA too. Either way they are not FAs until a new CBA is agreed upon, and even then they be restricted FAs. - Last year we went into the draft wanting to fix the OL and didn’t select one until the 5th round. - We selected Spiller with our first pick last year which filled no needs whatsoever and actually created one as our RBs are worse now than they were last season. Also, no teams D is built from the secondary up. Well that’s not true because ours is and its the worst in the league. No GOOD teams D is built from the secondary up. All that said I fully expect that prince ahakadoogie from Nebraska to be our pick (because that was reported already) for 3 reasons. 1- he is a CB we love CBs and should not even think about drafting a CB. 2- he isn’t even the best CB the LSU Peterson is from everything I have heard. 3- We will draft anyone who can return kicks in the top 10.
  7. I don’t believe we will get the 2nd pick, I believe they go by worst SOS in round 1, and best SOS in round 2, worst SOS in rd 3, best SOS rd 4 and so on. That would make the 2nd go Pats (through Carolina), Cincy, Buffalo, Den. Am I wrong here? Can someone clarify with evidence please? Also, your logic is correct assuming one of the players we want falls to us. The problem with that is if we don’t want Luck and/or Fairley we are really up sh*ts creek because our scouts clearly suck.
  8. Luck played extremely well vrs Oregon. They were 1 or 2 plays away from winning that game. Considering how they were horribly overmatched in speed among other things it was pretty impressive. You also cannot compare Lucks game to Newtons like that, it’s just different styles. Luck clearly should be #1. Ok so he plays great vrs VT, great vrs Oregon, great vrs Ariz … who are your best of the best? Its college football and as much as you wanna talk down those teams those are some top teams. I wish the BCS lined them up vrs ‘Bama or LSU but they didn’t. He has crushed vrs who he has played and he has played a couple of top teams in college football.
  9. I would trade all 8 of our draft picks this year and a few next year to Carolina for Luck if that’s what it took. But, I would prefer to play to our strengths. When was the last time the Bills got good value with a pick before the 4th round? Wood and Levitre are the only guys going back 10 years!!! So, I would trade our 1, 2 and 3 this year, and our 1, 2, and 3 next year (obviously I wouldn’t give that all away if I didn’t need to) but in return, I would get Carolinas 4, 5, and 6 Along with the #1 overall. So, that would leave us with 3x 4ths, 2x 5ths, 2x 6ths and our 7th along with Luck. That gives up 9 picks in this draft, and while they are late round picks, we have shown over the past decade that we get better players in those rounds than the first 3. Also, a lot of posters are saying we cannot afford to trade up because we have so many holes – well Carolina has just as many holes, and are without a 2nd round pick. The same argument that you are using to say “no we shouldn’t trade up” is the same argument that Carolina may use to say “we need to trade down”. It’s a two way street.
  10. He must’ve gotten a good report back from the NFL projection committee group or whatever that group is called. Does anyone know if that list is published or is it kept private? I know it was announced last year that Locker didn’t get a 1st round grade and that’s a big reason why he went back, but did he let that slip in a presser or was it officially announced?
  11. …which would you prefer Ok this is pure speculation and I would like to get everyone’s opinion on what would be the best way to go *IF* we take a QB in the 1st. According to the Draft Value trade chart it would take our 1st, second, and third to move up to #1. Now I realize Carolina will likely not trade their pick, but a lot of posters use the logic of “We need OL/DL/LB and have Fitz for now so improve those positions don’t draft a QB” and I have to assume some Carolina fans have the same opinion. Luck is clearly the #1 player but if there is a somewhat close second that Carolina thinks they could land at 3 they may be ok with trading down. So what would you rather see if you knew we were going to land a QB like Ralph said we were.
  12. Dear Senator, Please refrain from posting any type of QB based opinions of yours in the future. Your history here has shown you have very little insight or accuracy with your observations, which includes Graham Harrell as a 2nd round prospect, talkina as if Tebow was not going to go in the first round, claiming Cam Newton will fall to the 3rd round, and discussing Mallet as a 3rd overall prospect while discrediting any poster that thinks Luck may be available, when in reality Luck has 10x the reasons to declare and thus should be thought more likely to do so regardless of what has been reported before this season began. Sincerely, TSW Posters.
  13. You are being just as guilty as all of the bad teams cage! You are assuming that if the Bills hadn’t drafted Maybin then another team would have taken him shortly after – which may be true, but who the heck cares? Does that mean he was actually worth the 11th overall pick – heck no! His play has proven that he was terrible value. And guess what, a lot of teams knew he was going to stink BEFORE he actually stunk (although IMO he always stunk even in colege). A good team with good scouts would NOT have taken him. He wouldn’t have fallen to the 5th round ONLY BECAUSE SO MANY BAD SCOUTING DEPARTMENTS EXIST. Good scouting departments wouldn’t have taken him because they knew he wasn’t worth that selection and that he was going to stink. How could they have possibly known that you ask? Its simple…. Its because they are good! They didn’t buy the hype, they could see he was physically weak, they could see he had no insticts, they could see he couldn’t get off a block to save his life, they could see he was a scrawney little girl, they could see all those things… which exo-facto makes them a good team/scouts. Only bad teams, and stupid pundits in the media and 8th graders running a draft site thought Maybin was good. The good team with good scouts knew not to take him because they are good at their jobs. It’s a self fullfilling proficy really. You are good if you make good decisions. Luck has almost nothing to do with it. And quite contrary to what you state, I DID know with every ounce of me that Maybin was going to be a collassel bust. I knew it to the fullest degree you can know something about a draft pick. Its not just pure happenstance that he turned into the worst draft pick of my lifetime, I saw it coming from a mile away. Now, how likely is it that a player that epically bad is going to succeed in the NFL?
  14. Wow, even hindsight isnt 20/20 sometimes eh Senator? Wheather it was Bulaga, Iupati, or Pouncy, they all would have been better than Spiller. Some people knew that long before the draft…. Too bad those people don’t work for the Bills!
  15. ____________________________________________ I guess I kinda forgot that this thread was mainly about DLman and how they will produce in the NFL, so here we go. Fairly>Dareus. Fairly is much stronger and meanier and it shows. He doesn’t seems to be as quick but that’s fine with me as stouter is better. Just look at Suh v McCoy last year. Suh was the physcal beast that can dominate on any level. McCoy is a bit weaker and his speed was nuetralized. Dareus has one obviously flaw that I have seen and its shedding blocks once he is engaged. This could haunt him at the next level because he wont be able to fly around or between people like he does for Bama. This is the same obvious weakness Maybin had just to a much lesser degree. Bowers is a game changer too. People think of him as a 43 DE only and a pure pass rusher but his strength is obviously his rush defense. He could play in a “true” 43 as a big 2 gap DE like the Raiders use, but I think he would be at his best in a 3-4 playing DE. He is not too small to do this he is 6’4’’ 285+ with the frame to add30lbs if he wanted. Quinn looks really Demacuse Ware esq but I havent seen him live so I cant form any real opinion on him. Claiborne is awesome ut out of shape and I don’t like out of shape players. He could easily bust and eat himself out of the league, which will be hard to predict.
  16. The draft is most certainly NOT a crapshoot. I hate that line more than anything else. There is a reason the Bills cannot draft. It’s the same reason that the Lions under Millon couldn’t and the same reason they can now. This reason allows the Pats/Steelers/Ravens to draft well every single year with a much higher success rate than the Bills/Browns/other crap teams. The reason isn’t luck either, its skill. Evaluating players is a skill, and just like the Pats/Steelers/Ravens have the best players on the football field they also have the best talent evaluators in the film room. The OP pointed out that guys like Tyson Jackson didn’t really pan out… well no sh*t the guy wasn’t very good before the draft either. Do you think we are just unlucky, and that’s the reason we passed on Ngata just to trade up for McCargo? If you think it’s a crapshoot then you must think McCargo was just as likely to turn into the best DT in the league – because that’s what Ngata is. I’ll give you a hint – McCargo always sucked and Ngata was always good and the Bills just cannot see the difference, while the Ravens laughed their way to the bank. I’m sorry but if anyone is surprised that J. Russell and A. Smith didn’t pan out then you are a straight up retard when it comes to football. If you are surprised that Maybin is so terrible then you are comatose – because he was just as freaking bad in college. He is literally the exact player I expected, I said he would be outta the league in 3 years when we drafted him, and was completely dumbfounded when we went before much more talented guys who fell to the 3rd. Meanwhile Orakpo is dominate – just like he was on college – and I predicted him to get 10+ sacks his rookie year and make the probowl – wow that was hard to see wasn’t it? That is not a “crapshoot” and that was 100% blatantly obvious to anyone with a pulse and cable television. I will say not everything is set in stone. It’s hard to predict injuries which ruin careers, or judge a guys work ethic or how much drive he has left in the tank (like that RB from Bama/SF who up and retired after 1 season). But it’s not hard in the least to watch a guy play in college and predict how those players skills will project to the NFL. And that is what the Bill just suck at. Here are some other Nostradamus Esq “predictions” for 2011. - Ryan Mallet Stinks. I bet he doesn’t declare bc that NFL prediction board will give him a 2nd-3rd round grade. If he does declare, the Bills will prob take him at 3 because they can’t draft and don’t know what they are doing. They will then be surprised when he sucks. Mallet should not be touched until the 3rd at the earliest and will never be an above average starter – ever. - Locker is so freaking bad its mind numbing. I would bet my testicles that the Pats don’t even have him on their draft board – at ALL. He wasn’t good last year either – so despite what idiot McShay says he was never being considered a top selection by the teams that are good at drafting. I won’t say anything about the sh*t teams because we all know how sh*tting they can be. He shouldn’t even be drafted – in any round. Welcome to the world of Jevon Snead Mr. Locker. - Nate Soldier, a guy being touted by some as the drafts best T, sucks. It’s obvious that anyone who thinks he is the drafts best T doesnt know anything about anything. He will never even get a chance to play LT because he simply cannot play LT in college and it’s not going to get any easier. I wouldn’t even trust this POS to play back up G for my team. - James Carpenter is the LT for Bama, but projects more to G or maybe RT for a bad team like us. This kid will get drafted by a good team that knows what they are doing, but the selection will be viewed as a “reach” by the 8th grade wienies that run draft sites and McShay. My bet is he goes to a physical running team like the Ravens or Steelers. This guy is strong, physical, and tough. He plays with good technique, and it’s obvious that he is an NFL talent. He is gonna be a late rounder who plays a long time in the NFL and it won’t be a crapshoot when it happens.
  17. very effectively said and unfortunately teh truth hurts.
  18. you have that backwards, but point taken.
  19. we need some serious FAs to even field a team next season.
  20. he is too good to be drafted by the bills.
  21. I am so happy that he is gone! start GW now!
  22. we all no whoever it is is going to be the obvious wrong pick and going to stick. That makes me think Mallet or Locker. I would rather see Fairley, Bowers, or even Newton. My #1 choice is trade up for Luck. Carolina, name your price
  23. wow, i hoe you are right. Jax losing and Indy winning are very likely and I think Denver is going to win too. Too bad we would lose the coin toss. One would also think that head to head would come into play before a coin toss would. O the NFL
  24. Fightclub for GM. I personally like Bowers and Fairley better because they are both great vrs the run and Dareus just doesnt seem to be as good of a run defender to me. If we loose and pick 4th, lets just hope they all come out bc then we will have a shot at one. That DL with Sioli, KW, and a stud draft pick would be able to dominate most every OL we would face. Carrington and Troupe would both play a heck of a lot and so would Edwards - they would not be wasted picks. I personally would like to rely on them as backups than starts at this point in their careers. I like.
  25. did big pat just sign a 3 year extension?
