  1. It all depends on how much and for how long. Welker and his agent know this is probably the last 'big' contract he will get. I know we in Buffalo have watched him torch us for years but i really think he is sliding fast and thus would not be worth a 3-4 year deal, which is what he will want. Some team who feels they could use a guy like him to win now, say Detroit, might jump at it.
  2. This is exactly the case, i believe. it is why ND is joining the ACC in everything but Football. And now that they just went to the NC you can bet it will be at least another 5-10 years before they even consider joining a confrence.
  3. Murray is going back. It is a done deal. he announced it already. Buck Belue was all over this a couple days ago. Belue is the UGA qb who throw the famous Lindsey Scott TD pass to beat Fla with time running out back in early 80's. He is very ied to the program and Qb's there. Murray is staying so move on from him.
  4. Guys, Eagles called him and he answered. It is the NFL. Would not any of us at least go hear what the pinnacle company in our profession had to say? If it was all just a ploy, fine. So what, he is a head coach at one of the most financially stable colleges. Yes he could have sat down and done it that way. The President or AD would have said we learned from Weiss not to give raises out too soon. Maybe this did happen? So Kelly went to see what the Eagles had to say. If it nets him another million or two a season for a couple extra seasons great. ND just got a nice check from the NC Game. They should spend it wisely.
  5. It will depend on which way Ogletree approaches the combine. Would love to see him show up around 250 and still have the same speed and agility. Then he would easily be the best option for inside backer for the Bills. He is a converted SS. Kid can cover as good as any LB coming out. Only knock is he has not been playing LB forever and thus is learning how to run stuff. I would love for the Bills to take him in the first. Not to many guys come along that are 3 down LB's. meaning you can leave them in for run or pass.
  6. Depends on the injury. They may of had to wait for swelling to go down some. Or he could have decided to wait till after the holidays. 3 extra weeks will not mean much in the recovery/rehab process.
  7. Not only exaggerating but totally discounts that players play a large role in the success of any offense or defense.I think Marrone will be very involved with play calling and game planning. Hackett and he will work together well. Marrone will take things he learned while working under Payton in N.O. and apply it in Buffalo. Marrone was Hackett 5 years ago in N.O. At least that is my thought as to why Marrone brought him in from 'Cuse.
  8. hard to tell right now, but i will give them this they are moving towards a more youthful staff. I like that. Marrone is 48 will be 49 in July. I was not very excited at first but like many others once i researched him more i am liking it more and more. I think Hackett is very young but i also think he will be a good addition. i see his role being much like Marrones role with Payton while with the Saints. Pettine is a great hire. So far i like the moves. now they just need to find a couple of players in the key areas and the Bills should be something to watch in 2013.
  9. I was not Judging him on one game per say. However when you look at his body of work who did he do it against. There are many LB in the FCS that probably have great stats and good measurables. But teams will not take them in the firts round because of the level of competition they played against. Now could Te'O had a bad night? Sure. But it could also be he played against supperior talent and was exposed. That is not a risk you take at pick 8 when you can not afford too, and there will be solid guys there to chose from. The Bills are not to deep at any one position. Pick best guy available in the first. And it will not be Te'O.
  10. But you saw what Fitz is. he will not take you to the next level. he just wont. He has had more than enough time to prove it. And bringing him back is not a good idea either because guys in the locker room will still see him as the starter. You are putting your new QB in a bad spot. No thanks. I want to cut Fitz because he is not the answer. i do not care if it saves .50. It is time to move on for the Bills and for him
  11. No, i got it. But he makes little sense. I was not basing the fact the SEC is a better confrence on one game but on the past 7 years of NC and guys drafted. He wants to say the Big East beat two SEC teams. great! Te'O looked like crap last night. Sorry, he just did. Look at the big picture. his arguement has little to stand on. You ask any pro scout what is the best confrence and i gaurantee you they will say SEC. If you can play they you can usually play in the NFL. Your game will translate quicker and better. Of course other confrences produce nice and great players. But the SEC turns out more top talent then any other confrence. I am just glad Te'O got exposed and the Bills will not take him in the first round.
  12. Fitz is gone guys who give a sh*t? Now the cap space thing is good, especially since this is being seen as abit of a 'weak' draft. Resign your two big FA. Make some decisions on the rest of your FA and who else is out there and go from there. They need some money for a proven Vet QB and would like a lb added in FA.
  13. One Game? Come on man, the SEC has won the last 7 NC. Please tell me when the last time was a single confrence OTHER than the SEC dominated like that in the last 30 years?? The south has the best all around college football. It just does. It also boasts most of the best HS football. Football is a religion in the south. Healthy? maybe not, but it makes for the best players and teams. To arguee that two Big East Schools beat two SEC schools in meaningless bowl games is silly. Its an argueement, but not a good one.
  14. Seriously? Come on man. The SEC is by far the best confrence for football. If you try to arguee that you are showing you do not watch a lot of college football. Bama, UGA, Texas A&M, and even South Carolina would have all crushed Notre Dame. Florida layed an egg against Louisville. No doubt about it. This was kind of a down year for the SEC and they still had 5 teams finish in the top 10 and are 7 years straight and counting for the NC. To say anything else then the SEC is the best is just silly.
  15. Alec Ogletree is an interesting guy at LB. He is a converted Saftey listed at 6'2.5 and 235 lbs. Kid can cover and rush the passer. He would need to put on 15 lbs to play MLB in the 4-3. UGA runs a base 3-4 D. He is tough and learning how to fill better on the run but still raw. He is a bit of a reach maybe at 8 and not sure he will be there in the second. Now is he shows up at the combine around 250# and has not los a step and has all his agility still, the Bills would be silly not to take him at 8. There are not many 3 down LB's like Patrick Willis around. Ogletree could be that type of guy.
  16. Te'O was exposed last night just like the entire ND team. The SEC is the best football anywhere. Te'O struggled against the best college talent there is. How could a team consider taking him in the first round now after seeing that game. I am sorry guys, but the Bills need 3 LBs and a qb before next season. I just hope Te'O is not one of them. Good kid and great story i like how he plays and carries himself. He is not worthy of a first round pick.
  17. Not sure Joe D will be brought back, but he did a great job under Chan. Marrone has said he will work with the Oline and QB mostly. Could see him using a younger assistant on Oline but i could be wrong. Joe D lives in ATL and has come into my restaurant before. On a side note! he is actually good friends with a guy i do business with.
  18. O-lineman are typically the smartest guys on the field, besides maybe the QB. Usually your center is like a qb helping set up the line calls. I was shocked like most that Marrone was hired. But the more i read and hear about him i think it could be a good hire. Brandon needs to know open the wallet again and help Marrone get the DC and OC he needs, no matter what.
  19. Kelly is smart to stay at Oregon. He has the full backing of Nike, he gets whatever he wants in Eugene. He is a king there. I am sure he weighed his options and realized the money difference was not worth it. He can stay at Oregon for another 20 years and maybe win a NC at some point. I do not blame him for staying. He also does not have to worry about whether his style will translate to the NFL now. He has proven success at the collegiate level and is getting paid good money.
  20. Alec Ogletree got overshadowed by Jones. Personally he is exactly what the Bills need at LB. If you went LB in the first i would like him over Te'o. I just think Ogletree's game translates better long term to todays NFL. And given that LB's have to pass cover now more than ever Ogletree would be better suited for that. To me he is one of the few 3 down LB's coming out.
  21. I think he ment Bills fans that live in the Carolina's. At least i hope he did. because i live in Atlanta and can not stand the Panthers. They always seem to have a guy on their team that just rubs me the wrong way!
  22. About as excited as a HC candidate with zero NFL experience, and who as made a name for himslef running a gimmicky offense at the college level does?
  23. Good for Philly. They probably know it is just for show. And that Kelly has pretty much decided on the Browns, therefore why make it appear you lost out on him. Bills should do the same. The more you stop and think about it, the more you have to question hiring him for the NFL. Is his offense fun and exciting to watch? Sure. Can other coaches watch tape and pick things up on it? Sure. I mean why does everyone think only Chip Kelly can run that up tempo style of offense? It not like he has smoke and mirrors. The main theory behind it has been around for years. Heck during the Bills glory days the K-Gun, used a similar principal. Keep our 11 guys on the field for an entire drive and make you keep your same 11 guys on the field. Do not huddle, call plays from the line of scrimage and make you stay in a base D.. The Bills would not use it all the time but when it was needed. Maybe to start the 3rd quarter if they were down. Or after they got a first down and a little momentum going. Kelly may have a lot of success, but his over all resume does not add up to handing him the keys to the vault. Need i remind you that Schneider did the EXACT same thing with Spurrier soon after buying the Skins. New owners of a struggling franchise want to show the fans they are going to change things drastically. They take gambles. Like i said earlier besides the Bills the Browns are due for a good HC. I hope Kelly can adapt to the NFL for their sake.
  24. Murray has not declared yet, correct? The word down here is he may stay since he is being projected as a 2-3 rounder right now.
