  1. Bingo,,,,you hit the nail on the head !! The coaching and game plans the past two weeks have been as poor as those of the days of the properly named Gregg Williams. When you read Mularkeys comments to the fan's questions, it comes across as " we are going to stick to our came plan" no matter how poorly it may be working or regardless of developments in the game. That is poor COACHING, and is reminiscent of the days of Greggo !
  2. I was not giving JP a pass on his poor play so far. I am just unimpressed with the staffs ability to try and compensate during his "learning curve" while he is playing poorly. Jp doesn't have to be accurate to hand the ball off to MOulds or evans on an occasional reverse. If he can't get it to them in the air, why not try handing it off to them to at least have the chance they could make a big play for us. What would we have to lose when we were averaging just a little over a YD. per pass attempt ? Why not try a half back option when Jp is so obvioulsy having difficulty, and the falcon's were playing with a secondary of street free agents who had never played together before according to their coach? Wouldn't they be more likely to bite up on a reverse or half back option? Why does Mularkey "have" to give Mcgahee a breather on third downs, obviously taking a premier playmaker off the field when we are terrible on third down conversions? Is a premiere back in the prime of his career really that out of shape that he needs a breather every third down, or is the coaching staff sticking to a personel package and unwilling to change as the game dictates? Despite Mcgahee's obvious running, he is continually pulled off, and made a non factor on third downs by the coaching staff. Do you remember Thurman being pulled off the field this frequently? What about some toss plays to Mcgahee, or if they are willing to call QB draws with JP as they appear to be, why not try an option with him pitching to Mcgahee? My point, which you failed to grasp, was if Jp is playing poorly, what can you do as a COACHING STAff to help him succeed ! OUR staff is trying to protect and simplify things so much for him, that they have become so predictable and they are compounding our chances of failure. They are falling into the old cliche' of calling the game not lose it rather than take some chances to win.
  3. Pennington gone with a second tear to his rotator cuff, and Harrison gone with ACL. MCL, and PCL ligament tears (sounds similiar to Mcgahee's injury). That may result in the Jets game as the only game we may be favorites in the rest of the year. The rest of our schedule looks very tough considering our previous two weeks performances. Even if our D regains some of its composure, we just don't have enough offensive firepower to compete with the AFC west teams, Cinci, New England, or even Miami who will have Ricky back by the time we play them. Not getting to Vick even once is an ominous sign since he is a frequently sacked QB. Our DL is getting no rush, as compared to a vastly improved Indy unit for comparison, who have 13 sacks already by their D lineman ! Also, given that we are going to be facing very good backs the rest of the way, like Mccallister, holmes, tomilinson, ricky, dillon, and the Denver group, we appear to be in for TEAMS following the blueprints of Tampa and Atlanta, and just ramming the ball down our throats. Add the loss of TKO to this, and this begins to look like a bleak picture. I also don't really think Parrish or a rookie tight end coming off of an acl injury will turn this offense around. For some reason, Mularkey and Clements are not doing anything to get the ball in the hands of Evans or Moulds, who could be used for reverses and other creative plays. Anyone watch LT for the chargers last night ? He was used very creatively, and yet our staff continues to keep the ball out of Mcgahees hands on third downs and even short yardage situations. This is a very puzzeling start to what we all hoped would be and exciting year for us. Lets hope the coaching staff quits the conservative play calling before the season is gone by our bye week !
  4. Sorry to hear this Ramius. My father passed away on Jan. 16th, 2002 of the same type of Lymphoma after a ten year battle with it. He was a very young 78 at the time, a wonderful father and husband, and I still think of him daily. Parents are the one unconditional source of love in all our lives, and there is no way to be prepared for their loss even if it has been anticipated for some time. I miss just being able to share the simple things, like talking about the Bills, or just being able to share a hug. My dad just made everything in my life better. There is no way to tell someone how such a loss feels until you unfortunately have to experience it with your own family. The pain from the loss will eventually get better, but we can never forget the love they added to our lives. My prayers are with you, and I hope to see you in th chat room some time this year during the upcoming season. Hang in there, do the best you can, and remember, he will always be a part of you.
  5. Will be thinking and praying for you and your sister. I know how you feel. I just spent 12 hours in an ER here in Jax with my mom having severe abdominal pain. STill no answer for her, and she is in pain again tonight. Hope you get some rest Cindy, and let me know if you have any questions I can help you with if the docs don't explain everything. Big hugs for you and you both will be in my prayers until Mary is back on her feet.
  6. Correct, except hydrocodone and oxycodone are equianalgesics. Both have equivalencies of 30mg equivalent to 10 mg IV morphine sulphate. Both are highly addictive. I would suggest the patch also, but you would have to start at the lowest dose (25mcg/hr) or you will likely experience nausea and sedation. Good luck.
  7. NFL network reported he got a 12 million dollar signing bonus to join the 49'ers. Singed to protect the new rookie qb they expect to draft ! Jennings would never have gotten that from the bills, and I'm glad he didn't.
  8. Your doc should have given you amantidine or tamiflu which would have significantly shortened the duration of your symptoms. I do believe you should have the ears rechecked, could be a superimposed bacterial infection requiring anitbitics. Best wishes.
  9. Sorry hon,,,the exact opposite is true regarding temps,,,low usually correlates with viral infections, high with bacterial and more serious infections. I do agree about the old antibiotics though.
  10. I don't know what part of Jax you stayed in ,,,,,downtown ghetto perhaps, or with your navy cohorts, but I have never had any problems in twenty years in Jax. I was a medical director of two hospital programs in downtown Jax, and never had any problems at all. Now, and I preface by saying I am pro military and have taken care of Navy dependants for years in my practice, but the navy population is no way a reflection of the rest of Jacksonville. Young men with family problems under the stress of military life does not reflect the Jacksonville population. Small market with a huge stadium (seats about 75k) is the reason for the lack of sellouts. And if the only thing you ever saw growing was "the police force", I think that says more about you and your behavior than it does about Jacksonville. Property values here in Ponte Vedra beach have gone up over 200% in the last year. Apparently other things are growing besides the police force. Please grow up and mature while you are in the sheltered existence of the military,,,,,,,the real world is a tough place when you have to own and run your own business for a living, and ridiculous blanket statements about being shot and robbed are histrionic at best , and demonstrate your need for continued intellectual and personal growth if you are to make it outside of a controlled enviornment. Best of luck.
  11. Thanks Scott,,will do my best to represent the Wall !! In response to the other questions,,,,No, I didn't get the gift bag,,,or the girl last night The Nike girl (her name is Nancy Benoit) was nowhere to be seen last night ! She had dropped off four passes for me to use do took three of my co workers at the clinic. Two are accounting guys and the other is a physician assistant (PA). The PA was working with me the day Nancy came in, so he knew what she looked like as well. We looked for her all night (in between drinks that is), but either she was tired of partying all week or we just lost her in the crowd. They are having a smaller party tonight again and she told me to stop in anytime so I may stop there for a few minutes tonight. I still want to convince her she and nike need a doc with them at the pro bowl next week !! Did not see Kelly's wife with him,,,just his dad, brother and babes ! I am going to try and leave a message at the hotel as well, so We'll see about the "gift" Simon !!!!
  12. him good luck ! I was standing there wishing Reid well, just BS'ing a little. Reid was at the party at about 9 pm, and he was just saying what a tiring week it was with all the appearances etc. VERY nice man, humble, and VERY BiG in all dimensions ! Anyway, Kelly comes up with his father, and introduces his dad to Reid. I introduced myself, shook hands quickly as it was obvious I was just a bother there in Jim's eyes. Lol ! I just stood there and listened for a few seconds while Kelly congratulated Reid on the season and wished him well at the game. This party was at a very nice hotel right on the beach that Nike has rented for the whole week. Everyone was in semi formal dress, (Man, were the babes decked out looking for NFL players !!) Kelly is dressed in jeans and a base ball hat ! Had to laugh at that. The guy is still in pretty good shape though, and I just can't believe he big he is for a quarterback. ( My reference though is that I am 5' 9", so most NFL guys dwarf me). After getting done takling with reid, Kelly hit the rest of the party with his dad and a brother, and the guy was a babe magnet ! The party was fun, and man did NIKE spend the bucks. Full free bar with top shelve stuff and all the food you could eat. Everything from sushi, to really great lamb chops. I stuck with diry martinis all night with Belevedere vodka, and I am still hung over !! Must have had 10 or so ! Saw and met several NFL players there last night. Most were very nice anc approachable. The nicest was Warrick Dunn. He was a FSU grad, and a friend I was with at the party went to FSU, and introduced us. Dunn is smaller than I am, but the guy is all muscle. Stood and talked with us abou ten minutes,,,very nice man. The other extreme was Jerry Rice. He was there and was standing right behind me. I went to say hello and was cut off by a body gaurd !!! Had to laugh at that. Rice is a big guy, and we were all screened at the door so I can't figure out the need for a body gaurd. Chicks, on the other hand, had NO problem getting to Jerry last night !! HAHA ! He, like Kelly, was a babe magnet. Others that were there last night, and that I got a chance to shake hands with, Ty Law (considerable bling bling and babes with him), Marshall Faulk, Jesse Palmer (the bachelor, who was with some guy friends last night), Hugh Douglas (Eagle defensive end that the Jags cut this year), John Jurcovich (ex jag), Steve Young ( very nice guy, and dressed like Kelly without the hat. He is very thin, and obvioulsly lost bulk since retiring. He is much thinner than Kelly, but about the same height ). Those were the main people I met last night. There appeared to be alot of other players there (typical NFL builds with alot of diamonds flashing,). but I didn't know their names. Fun night, and I don't mind paying so much for NIKE shoes now since I made out with all the alcohol and food !!!! Tonight I am going to the marriott where the eagles are staying , and going to a night club in the hotel called Champs. Will let you guys know if I see eagles out late there tonight !!!nnn
  13. Went to the game with a girlfriend at the time. Sat in seats on the goaline, and had the perfect view of Beebe knocking the ball out or Letts hands. The only highlight, other than Taskers blocked punt. I got a autographed football by the whole Bills team at the official NFL auction there, along with a Kelly signed jersey and helmet, and here is the killer,,,,,,,,,,,a signed OJ Simpson jersey ! Got home and framed the jersey with KEllys', and hung them in my office,,,,,,,,,,one or two months later OJ ruins my investment !!!!! As a side note, my girlfriend had a little resemblence to a YOUNG Hiliary Clinton ( much better body, great rack,,,,,,just blonde hairstyle like Hiliary's). We were on the plane to Pasadena, and sitting behind us was mean Joe Greene of steele curtain fame. I tell my girlfriend to look behind us and tell her about mean Joes fame etc. She turns around to look, and at the time mean Joe is reading Time magazine with Hiliary on the cover. I swear , he does a double take, and then jokingly asks my girlfriend for HER autograph on the time magazine cover !!!! She laughed and said I'll give you mine if you give me yours ! Nice moment, and really the highlight of my first superbowl trip. Went to superbowl 28 the next year in Atlanta, since I KNEW the bills could not lose 4 in a row ! I was wearing a jaguar sweatshirt since Jax was just awarded the team, and I had purchased season tickets just so I could watch the Bills up close when they came to Jax. Anyhow, I went to the nfl experience before the game, and I was at a Peter Max display of helmets that he had abstracly painted, and the Jags owner, Wayne Weaver walks up and sees I have the Jag sweater on. He comes over and introduces himself and his wife ( really approachable and nice guy), and thanks me for the "support" of the team. Nice moment,,,,,,,but eight years later I gave up the season ticketes cause the damn Jag home games interfer with my ability to watch the Bills !!
  14. Just a little note from Jax on the differences between the psyches of the two teams. The Eagles got in to the Marriott here in Sawgrass Sunday nite around six pm. I will preface the rest of this by saying I live a min. from the hotel, and I am a doc at a very busy urgent care center here in Jax beach, so I see alot of people and lot of celebs/musicians/ jags wives here at the beach. Patients were telling me today that Sunday nite MCnabb was already out at several of the local club's / bars, playing pool, having some fun with teammates and the locals. The Marriott is completely open and anyone can hang out in the hotel. Players are signing anything fans bring in. One patient told me today that one buy got 4 helmets signed at one time by the players ! I have been to a couple of superbowls with the Bills before, and I don't remember that kind of easy access to players. On the other hand, the Pats are locked up in the world golf village several miles south of Jax. NO fan interaction allowed at all. They are in a very secure enviornment, and I did not hear any reports of the pats players out on the town here in Jax beach so far. The Eagles are sounding more like our old Bills,,,,,like Kelly, Talley, Bruce, Biscuit. HMMMMM,,,don't know if I would bet against the pats in this game !!! lol On a personal good note,,,,I saw this very young , beautiful, kind, SICK, marketing director from NIKE at the clinic today. She was from New York, and is in charge of setting up NFL commercials for NIKE. After the superbowl, she takes off Monday for Hawaii and the PRo bowl.!!!!! Tough job !!! So I laid on the poor poor pitiful me,,,,,working hard with no parties to go to,,,,,,so she comes back to the clinic this afternoon with two large, gold, collectors medallions, that are the admission tickets to the VIP NIKE party friday night !!! Nike has rented a very large, whole Hotel right on the beach for the whole weak. So her she is in all her sweetness, and she promises me a NIKE giftbag that they will be giving to Rothlisberger. Bettis, and other NFL players at the party !! It was at that point that I offered my personal services as a traveling physician to help make sure she gets to Hawaii in good health. I quickly mentioned my love of NIKE products and only want to see them succeed !!! HAHA !!! So Friday night from 7pm to 2 am I am going to be at the NIKE party, and I must convince this nice, beautiful, young , marketing director of her utter need of a personal, traveling, Pro bowl doc !!!!! Any suggestions would be appreciated !!!!! Stay tuned for futher updates from Jax !!!!
  15. Good to be back in ciruclation again, and missed talking with you too! Email me your address, and I will send you some things from here with the official superbowl logo from Jacksonville ! Wish you and Cindy and the Bills were down here !
  16. I have been away from the board for the past year or so because of some major changes in my career etc. I had been in solo family practice for 15 years and finally just got tired of dealing with insurance companies, outrageous increases in malpractice insurance premiums, never being able to take vacations, etc. Sold my practice and got a nice offer here in Jax beach at a very nice urgent care center, so now I am finally having some time to enjoy life again. Having said all that, I just wish it was our Bills down here this week, with me waiting to hook up with some of the wallers here to drink with me at some of my local watering holes. The Eagles just got into Jax, and I live one min. up the road from the Sawgrass Marriott where they are staying this week. I was watching out my front windows as the main road (A1A) in front of my subdivision was lined by eagle fans waving signs and banners as the police escorted caravan of buses with the eagle players went by on their way to the Marriott. Helicopters have been hovering over the area for the past half hour or so. The eagles are now on espn news giving their press conferences at the hotel. There is a great bar/club in the basement of the Marriott that I go to on weekends occsionally called Champs. I am going to try to go down there later this week to see who is hanging around and partying there,,,,,,maybe run into some eagle players, media, etc. Security is supposed to be pretty tight, but I know some of the bartenders pretty well, so I should be able to sneake in there and see some interesting sights. I had been to superbowls 27 & 28 (pasedena and atlanta) when the Bills played the Cowboys, so I know what to expect with the crowd and hype. It is truely an international event, and it is hard to explain the week before unless you have seen it for yourself. There are all kind of concerts (some free, some requiring tickets) all week here in Jax, and I am going to try to hit a few to just enjoy Jacksonvilles week in the spotlight. I have to work Tuesday (7am-9pm shift), but then I am off till the following Wed,,,,,So I have a whole week to enjoy the fun and watch all the people coming into town ! I have not had a whole week off in over ten years,,,,,,,,,,,,,so I am stoked !!! It would have just been perfect if the Bills, and some of my friends from the wall like Cindy and Harriet , were down here to enjoy the week with me ! Well, just wanted to say hey to everyone, and wish you guys were all down here with me. I will try to post some things later in the week, especially if I see some interesting things or people. Maybe I'll run into some Bills players partying around town ! If any wallers are going to be down here this week, message me and we can get together for a drink ! Cindy,,,,,,,,,,If you read this, send me a message with your address. I will get you and Harriett a couple of jerseys with the official superbowl 39/Jacksonville logos on them to send up to you. Never know if Jax will ever host another one, so they could be collectibles ! The logo has a bridge above the roman numerals that represents all the rivers and bridges here in jax. If you watch espn, they are already in downtown Jax tonight shooting in front of the bridge ( a blue one ) that was used for the logo.
