Who is this D-Bag and why does Yahoo let him write about sports?

Wow does he really think Maybin is a LB? What an idiot!

I'm actually quite convinced that is where the Bills intend to play him. Our best chance for improving our team at this point would be to forget about trading for Henderson and sign Jason Taylor. Would not cost us anything in compensation, and that is what I expect the Bills to try and do. Now whether or not Jason Taylor would sign with the Bills remains to be seen, but that is the best case scenario for the Bills at this point, and why I am convinced they see Maybin as a Cornelius Bennett type play maker at the OLB.

I think if the Bills were looking to draft a starting caliber DE, they do not select Maybin #11 overall, and since taking him at #11 clearly indicates their belief that he is starting caliber, I can only assume they see him playing at OLB. Which is an idea I very much like for the record.

To suggest that the Bills would waste a #11 pick on a guy who only plays on 3rd down is preposterous. But it is a known fact that Maybin isn't going to be able to handle every down duties at DE this year. So you start putting two and two together and you get a sum of OLB.

I am pretty sure the Bills came out and said he will be a DE specialist. Whats awesome about maybin is he is a DE/LB hybrid. He can play with his fingers in the dirt or he can roam as a backer.I love the versatility and will allow fewell to come up with some great pass rushing schemes and hopefully confuse the offense kinda like what the Pats have done to us for years.

The problem I have with this D-bags write up is his crack on the guards. Every analyst has stated these are the two highest rated guards in the draft.

Exactly my thoughts, as well. The writer shoots his credibility right out the window when he dismisses two of the top-three top-ranked interior linemen in this year's draft without any explanation.

Actually, if the Bills switched to the 3-4 defense and got rid of the crap they are running now, Maybin would be a perfect fit as a OLB.

If you look at the Bills personnel, that is a realistic possibility right now. I don't expect it to happen and I don't think I really want it to, because I've always been of the mentality I would rather bull rush my way to the QB than try to trick my way to him, but maybe that is just me. 3-4 certainly allows for some nice zone blitzing packages to mix up the coverage some, which is one of its greatest merits to me. But overall, if you can field a good defensive line, I think the 4-3 is a more physically dominating type of defense, and more consistent as well. 3-4 is kind of like the spread offense to me in that it is a defense you go to based on your personnel. If you have a very deep LB core or are not deep at all at DT, then you possibly consider a switch, etc. Also, 3-4 is more of a speed defense, where 4-3 is more of a power defense (i.e. 3-4 is stronger vs anything outside the tackles, 4-3 is stronger vs anything between the tackles)

I wouldn't mind seeing a 3-4 base with a 4-3 package, thus utilizing Maybin's versatility as much as possible.

Well, that's a good thought when you take into consideration DJ might be on the outs after this season. At least we didn't draft a player that would only work in the current system.

Just because the Bills didn't draft a LT doesn't mean its a bad draft, that's what these guys don't get. If the Bills walk out with 4-5 starters, who cares if one of them isn't a LT, the Bills obviously felt none was worth it. It shouldn't bring their grade way down. What if they took Oher, then they'd get an A?

Bills fans are so sensitive.....lol......relax, most pundits have actually given the Bills high marks on the draft.... only time will tell. I expect all of our first five picks to be starters by their second year and major contributors in their first year. This guys "C" rating is silly, WOOD is considered the BEST center and Levitre is considered the BEST guard in the entire draft. For me, the entire grade hinges on MAYBIN, he would NOT have been my pick ( i liked OHER or PETTIGREW, or a trade down) but, like most fans, i hope it works out. The Front Office is turning the roster up side down, between this draft and free agents, it's going to look very different out there. i for one see vast improvements, however our strength of schedule went from the easiest last year to one of the most difficult this year. which translate to me as another 7-9 season plus or minus 3....lol....GO BILLS !!

There is no way they are envisioning Maybin as an OLB, they are already talking about putting weight on him. He is still talking about putting weight on himself. They have already said he was brought in to play end. And they are already making things up (at least Jauron is) about how good he is playing the run as an end.

It's also known that this was one of the things they were planning on doing before the draft, getting a pass rush specialist where they could play Kelsay or Denney on run downs and bring the rookie in to just go after the passer, which they thought was their greatest need. And he could spend his rookie year and first off season getting bigger and learning the game and position and by year 2-3 he would be big and strong enough to play full-time time at DE. It's not a bad strategy at all. Very few rookie DEs come in and play both the run and pass well.

At the growth rate he showed, I dont think it is going to take is rookie season to get bigger. I dont know what he is taking but his growth rate is ridiculous. I expect him to be at optimal playing weight by the start of the season.

I agree. Playing "up" to 250 lbs for DE not doable. Hed be hurt all the time.

He did jump quite a bit already. But he also just turned 21 years old. The kid is a pup. Plus, he needs to turn it into real muscle he can keep on. I don't think he will know for about three years what his optimal playing weight is. It depends on how strong he gets, how much he grows naturally, how much the weight affects his quickness, how he is able to play against the run, etc.
