Latest McShay Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, with the holes we have on our roster,

we can't afford to have our second and third pick only account for one player.

IMHO both times they traded up recently (for Poz and McCargo) it turned out to be a mistake.

Poz is a league average starter, McCargo is a bust.

I like Hangartner, but the reason he started is because the #1 guy was injured. Hangartner did get starts, but he was a second-stringer who got a chance and ran with it.

Thats how a lot of guys become starters. Very few rookies come in and start right away. So what your saying is he got a shot and did a good job. Sounds exactly like th ekin dof guy the Bills need. Not like Duke Preston who came in and did sub par at best.

Yes. I think Brown can put up big numbers and be a better version of Schobel as far as the pass rush, but I think he will be a liability against the run. Unger us an underrated player, but definitely not a first day pick- I wouldn't take him before the 5th round.

Dumbest post I've seen in a while.

I don't mind Brown as the 1st Pick...IMHO The Bills MUST add a DE/Pass Rusher with the Pick at #11...Whether it's Brown, Ayers, Jackson, Maybin if He slides a bit...It matters not to Me...As long as The Bills get someone who can get to the QB with that Pick I'm OK with it...

In the 2nd (based on this Mock) I'd rather see the TE Ingram go to The Bills...I REALLY like the way that Kid looks...As long as Our Doctors say He's OK I'd LOVE to see Him in Buffalo...I think he's a 1st round talent who is being pushed down a bit by the injury...I realize He's WAY raw and not the best Blocker right now...But I think the sky is the limit for that Kid once He gets a Year or two of Pro Coaching...Plus I think The Bills need another Player named Cornelius to turn this thing around...

In the 3rd a LB or an OG...In the 4th whatever they don't get in the 3rd...

<_< I concur. I like Maybin or Ayers at our pick, but really like Ingram with our number 2!

As a Pats fan, I'd be fine with Matthews, Laurinaitis, Alphonso Smith but I'm thinking OG Duke Robinson with the last pick in the 2nd. They can grab a safety in the 3rd or 4th round.

I still don't see why anybody likes Maybin to play a 4-3 DE at his size. He bulked up, but he's still under 250 and ran slow when he did. I don't get it.

And Ayers? I understand he played in the SEC, but doesn't three sacks in his final season tell you something? That doesn't warrant a #11 overall pick to me. We need a guy who will get to the quarterback. I don't see how 3 sacks will turn into a double-digit production. And if it doesn't - which in all likelyhood is won't - then it's an absolute reach at #11.

I believe Maybin clocked much faster recently. And 250 pound DE's seem to work quite nice for Indy- they both are in the Pro Bowl. Ayers was very disruptive when he played. And there is not one DE that is head and shoulders above the rest. I prefer Maybin and Ayers upside.

Maybin clocked in faster at his pro day...just like athletes always do. His 4.89 at the Combine was pathetic. Comparing him to the DE's for the Colts isn't entirely correct. Dwight Freeney is three inches shorter than Maybin and weighs 20 lbs. more than he does. He also ran a 4.38 at the Combine. Robert Mathis is a bit closer to Maybin in size, but I think he mainly benefits from teams having fits over Freeney. Plus, Mathis was a fifth round draft pick. You'll never see me complain about taking Aaron Maybin in the fifth round (everyone settle down...I know he won't be there then).

I believe there is, and his name is Brian Orakpo. That's why he'll be long gone by the time we pick.

I think the best comparison's I've heard made by Pat Kirwan and others for Maybin isn't a Freeney or a Mathis but rather him being a young version of Andre Carter. Andre is a guy who plays now full-time at the end position but when he came into the league he went from Defensive End to Linebacker and occassional DE.

His first few years, Maybin could be our SAM (which is most people's WILL - aligned with the 3 tech and the flows to the ball) and run around like a maniac, make some plays, get some sacks in rush situations on the edge. As he gets more developed, as a player and physically he can transition to full time DE.

First of all, where is this Hangartner was a backup stuff coming from? Do you read? He was a STARTER at Carolina last year, not a backup, and they wanted to keep him, but they couldn't because they have tremendous salary cap problems down there. No one is pretending anything. Carolina had one of the best OLs in football in terms of run blocking and overall statistics last year, so to claim this guy can't play is ludicrous.

That being said, I would still like to see the Bills draft one of Mack, Unger, or Robinson. Mack and Unger could play guard, or regardless of the Bills' "Commitment" to Hangartner playing center, he has a number of starts at the G position and could be moved to make way for Mack or Unger if that worked out. If not, the other two could play guard and be very good. Having guys that can play two OL positions is a luxury in the NFL. As for Robinson, no question the guy can play, and if he is available in the third round we should consider moving up to get him in the third. That wouldn't cost us much, and by that time, Buffalo likely will have addressed two of their other needs, i.e. DE, LB, DT, TE.

Saying Hangarter is a starter is like saying Chambers is a starter -

he was forced into the lineup because of injury

I guess he was so good that Carlina did not keep him and he did not sign any big deal with anyone else either,

What you fail to state is that Caroline liked Hangman so much that they went and drafted a rookie in the 2nd round and started him ahead of Hangartner. He was not good enough so he was replaced

Now though he is the savior and answer to the Bills incompetent C play for the last 15 years.

I don't think so .

With roster space limits, it is imperative that your OL can play multiple positions. they need to be flexible to move around and cover up injuries.

he is a backup quality C

Hey Spartacus. I'm gonna (for what reason I have no idea) give him/them the benefit of the doubt. However the best person you could compare Hangartner to is Duke Preston.

They were both selected in the 2005 Draft, Preston in the 4th round, Hangartner in the 5th. And both can play all three interior line positions.

So worst case, we shuffled the cards and have an equivalent player. Best case is that he's an upgrade. Boy this finger crossing is getting old.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather not take a guy #11 overall who doesn't fit into a particular position. There's a difference between being a 'tweener like Maybin and being versatile like a Jerod Mayo or Mathias Kiwanuka. I'll admit I haven't seen much of this guy, but from what I have seen it looks like he is just a fast dude with no technique and too small to get enough push off of NFL tackles (http://video.aol.com/video-detail/draft-mi...aybin/599245129). By all means though if you've seen more of him than I have I welcome the differing opinion.

Personally, I am much more impressed by Everette Brown: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXJJ14HL5EE)

Also, can someone tell me what the allure of B.J. Raji is? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UQ2YGE9SLM I just don't see it...

Here's another thought: does anyone think it's worth trading up to #4 to get Orakpo? I'm not sure it's worth the price...but it is tempting to consider:

I love watching that Brown video. He has the big-time pass rushing moves the others don't. Brown beat some of those tackles so badly it looked like they didn't even get a finger on him. He could be best in draft, IMO.
