Trade Roscoe Parrish during the offseason??

Check my link on the NFL site.

I've noticed that the NFL stat site seems to ignore Roscoe. This isn't the first year where he was leading the league in punt return average & was not even on the list.

Try this one.

Did you guys notice how the Chiefs feared kicking to the guy (just like so many other teams). That translates to better drive starts. He also is averaging 14.7 yards per return.

When he does get the ball in the passing game, he is fine.

It seems to me, this is a guy that we want on our team -- especially after he signed a cap friendly extension.

Just my two cents.

Personally I'd hate to see Roscoe sent packing. It makes me feel good having the best punt returner in NFL history(based upon 75 returns min, ave for career) playing for my Bills.

While there are many resons to hate Bellichick one thing he said years ago that did impress me (when referring to the Bledsoe trade to Buffalo) was that you have to decide who you can win without, even if they are good players. I'm not sure what we could get in trade for roscoe but he is not an NFL threat at wide-receiver and it may be too much of a luxury to carry him as a punt return specialist only. Let McKelvin handle all returns - even if it means dropping him to nickle corner on the depth chart to level out his playing time.

Let's argue that best case you get a second rounder for Roscoe. You can get a quality o-line or d-line player in return. If you can't get at least a third rounder then it is probably not worth the trade. Maybe there is a package deal in there somewhere such that we get extra picks and a move up in the draft. Again, may depend upon who is on the board but an impact pass rusher or solid TE helps the Bills more than Roscoe does.

Are we so strong at WR that we are willing to give up even potential assets there in exchange for the contributions of even a second round choice at WR?

I do not think so.

The simple facts are:

1. You would have McKelvin playing PR, KR and with his strong showing Sunday CB and I do not see the Bills doing this or it being intelligent to depend on a single player leading three units.

2. Parrish has not taken the world by storm at WR, but the lack of QB playing consistently at the position for anywhere near a full season has to have some role in this. Its not like Parrish has not proven anything (he is an inconsistent put powerful threat at #3, he is a proven PR performer, and despite his small size and injuries has proved willing to brave the slot.

It comes off as the usual fan panic to want to throw him away and simply bad football to do this with no proven alternative for him in a working passing game.

This is slightly off your topic, but I think if we trade anyone it's Reed. Assuming improvement in our rookies, he is the one who has value and we can do without. I know he seems to be a key part of the offense this year, but I think Johnson has proven he can step into the "security blanket" role, and hopefully Hardy will gain more confidence in the offseason. If not Parrish can supplant him as the number 3.

Parrish reminds me of Dante Hall, another guy who should have been a lot better with the offense but never seemed to get it done. If we do want to trade him, I vote they talk to SF, Martz like those small, quick wr's.

Reed is probably too long in the tooth but interesting point. I still think Trent likes him too much for the team to give him up. Part of my thought behind the Roscoe trade is that he and Trent Edwards do not seem to be on the same page. The stats suggest strongly that either by design or choice the offensive plan does not provide him many throws.

NO WAY do we trade Reed, ESPECIALLY after what we saw happen to our offense in his absence.

he is too good of a possession receiver, trent likes him, and he is a great downfield blocker.

i can get behind trading roscoe, if the offer was amazing, but i cant imagine what would be fair for Reed given his role in our offense.

Very true. It is funny - a lot of people on this board bashed Josh Reed for years. We saw how valuable he is to the team when he was out as well as this past week.

And I think he is valuable this year - but I also think Johnson can fill that role adequately next year, that's all. If someone makes a good offer for Reed, I'd have to listen. And I guess I'm thinking 4th round or equivalent.

As fragile as he may be, the man is a game changer and a threat to go all the way every time he touches the ball. No way could we get enough value for him in a trade for what he is worth to the Bills. Let's keep our good players. I'm tired of sending them to the NFC. He doesn't carry a ridiculous salary.

The point is that we would have to get value for the trade .... also, is he really a valuable piece of the roster when we have other returners that can threaten? I'm not looking to give him away. There are just so many needs on this team - DE, DT, TE, C, wide receiver depth (in that order) that if we could get a #2 like Miami did for Welker I would take it in a heartbeat.

I definitely see what you are saying, I just don't think anyone would offer a #2. Plus we know what we have in Roscoe while we have no clue what we'll get out of a (likely) 3rd or 4th round draft pick, especially if it's a Center or TE which can take 3 years to develop as 2 of the most difficult positions to learn in Football. Field position is such a huge part of the game and Roscoe benefits us greatly in that department.

Anyone giving up on Hardy already is silly. WR's rarely succeed until their THIRD season - getting mad at your 2nd rounder because he's struggling 2/3 of the way through year 1... C'mon!

Moulds was thought to be a potential bust until his third season, remember?

I think the argument for trading Roscoe is sound - it's all dependent on what they could get.

If they can get something that moves them up in round 1 so they're drafting a stud DE like FSU's Everette Brown - DO IT!!

I could swear we got two third's over two years for McGahee - didn't one of them trade us up to get Poz? Or was it Baltimore's they used to get Trent? Either way - was that bad?

Your recollection is correct - buffalo got a 3 and a 7 in 2007 and a 3 in 2008. They used the picks this way: 3 in 2007 - Trent Edwards 7 in 2007 C.J. AhYou (bust) the 3 in 2008 as a part of the Marcus Stroud trade (interestingly the pick ended up back with the ravens through Jville and they picked Tavares Gooden

teams will just wait for him to get cut... trades very seldom happen in the NFL anymore that mean anything...you can just wait out the player and the team.

this isn't fantasy football..

Roscoe isn't going to be cut any time soon.
