Does any one know James Farthing, 42, of Williamsville?

My kids are 6 & 4 right now, and I definitely want to take them to a game in a couple of years, when I know that they'll pay attention to the whole game. I just worry about the drunk idiots at the game. I know there's a family section at the Ralph, anyone know how hard it is to get tickets in that section?

I bought tickets for that section on eBay last year for the Pats game. I paid $40 per seat... 2 days later they moved the game to a night game (What a deal!!!) Anyway - look on eBay, alot of people DON'T want to sit there. I had a good time with my sister. There were alot of older (like late 50's and 60's) fans too. There were Pats fans in front of us, but they were respectful. However the guy behind me with his kid kept yelling that the Bills sucked, the cheerleaders sucked, etc. I politely turned around and said "Excuse me, this is the family section and you are being very disrespectful and teaching your son to act the same way. Don't frget, you are in OUR stadium and we all bought these tickets to enjoy the game". He was quiet after that and the nice people next to me gave me a little smile.

Anyone disappointed that no one has asked Steph about her cheerleading adventures?

LOL! It was 6 years ago, VERY fun, but I will take the view from the stands anyday! You couldn't questions the refs or boo them or freak out like I do at a game. You had to have some decorum.

On the way back to the car we saw two men, probably in their late 30's or early 40's fighting. One had his shirt off (and he should NOT have). I wonder what these guys do during the week... doctor? lawyer? accountant? Someone's boss? Just because there are 70,000+ people there, don't think someone is not going to see you or you won't get arrested! DUMB! I go to football games because their is a GAME going on. Why don't these drunken idiots just go to a bar and get wasted? Or would that make them feel like a loser getting drunk in a bar on a Sunday? Honestly, being wasted (to the point of stumbling and passing out in your seat) is no better than passing out on a bar stool or in a gutter somewhere.

Am I the only one that enjoys these sideshows. It is what separates the live game from watching it on TV. For the most part, fighters usually only fight fighters, so who cares if two idiots pound on each other. I'm gonna watch. Whenever the Bills play in Giants Stadium(1 or 2 times a year) I go to the game and it's like watching a golf game. All that other stuff at the Ralph is what makes the experience special and is why I make a trip every year for at least one game...that and the fires in the parking lot.

Say what you want, but it's all stuff that adds to the live game experience. I'm not kidding and I'm not a moron, and what I said was that if they fight I'm gonna watch. I don't go looking for it but if you think it doesn't add to the experience then go to Giants Stadium. They've got people playing catch and cookouts as well. The Ralph is a better time.

I'm going to guess no, no and...umm...no.

Last time I got in a fist fight I was 12. Seriously.

Best punch I ever saw was at a Bills-Jets game in the 80s. Near the tunnel a Bills fan and a Jets fan (downstate UB student probably) were arguing. The Bills fan girlfriend reached over her boyfriend and deck the Jets fan with one punch. Saw it through the binoculars as we had season tickets on the goal line in a season ticket area which was always calm.

I think it so funny when some big, drunk guy, starts getting stupid. We'll tell the guy to come out into the concourse with us. There, away for other fans, we'll usually warn the guy and send him back in. But I was surprised by how many people at that point would tell us they weren't going to go outside with us. That's it. Now they're going to jail, and getting there the hard way. Idiots escalate the situation without any thought about the consequences and without realizing all they have to do is walk out with us for five minutes.

Scribo, just an observation, but what's the exact protocol? Perhaps the reason why (at least some of) those people refuse is that they think if they step outside, they're going to be escorted out of the stadium. Is it made clear to them that such groups really just want to have a discussion in the tunnel and then they'll (likely) be let back to their seat? Some people might figure, 'What do I have to lose, they're gonna throw me out anyway.' I understand it's the courteous thing to do by taking them aside so as to not embarrass them and not to detract others from the game, but it could backfire from the inference they make about your intentions. Such a statement as the italicized part could well be what happens in practice, but wasn't clarified.

That must take some bravery at times! :censored:

That is considered. Pretty much verbatim, I say, "I need to come into the concourse to talk. No one is getting kicked out right now, but we need to talk right now." When someone refuses it is usually explained to me that he paid good money for the seat and doesn't want anything or he is too drunk to really understand. I tell him, "I understand that. And everyone else here paid good money for their seats. You need to come with me now or you will be taken out. If you have to be taken out, the police are going to arrest you. Please, come with me now." I am standing in front of a crowd, often blocking the view of behaving fans. I don't have the time to negotiate. If he doesn't go, I return to the bottom of the stairs and call for the snatch team. Really, most times I shake my head all the way down the stairs because I know this fool back up there is either too drunk or too stubborn to think about the decision he is making.

I have to lead the snatch team up, try one more time quickly to talk him into coming peacefully. If he still won't go, I have to be the one to first grab the guy, which usually results bruises and scratches for me. So I have plenty of personal interest in resolving it without getting to that point.

Of course, we do say the same thing to someone who threw something or was fighting, and they really are going to be escorted directly out of the building or to police custody. But we have to do what we have to do to minimize the danger to the fans around those people. That said, those guys almost never walk out on their own. Often, someone who threw something or was in a fairly minor fight but walks out on there own, usually does not get arrested -- just booted.

Near the bottom.

The Sheriff’s Office arrested four others: James Farthing, 42, of Williamsville, charged with third-degree assault, accused of striking a woman in the face; Thomas Churakos, 34, of Olean, and Jonathan Fuzak, 38, of Williamsville, both charged with harassment; and Edwin Weiskerger, 49, of Depew, petit larceny.

Maybe she was a Pats fan who got lost on her way to Foxborough and thusly deserved it? :censored:

All kidding aside, no man should ever strike a woman unless she won't stop and fears for his life, family, or property.

Sadly, everywhere you look there are idiots who can't handle their liquor and shouldn't be allowed to drink anywhere. A REAL man can handle this, it's the girly ones who can't.

Wow John Fuzak... Still a douche bag after all these years. How is Mom's basement these days??

This is the funniest thing I have read on this board in a while, and you know what? I agree with you. I have never, and I mean never, gotten in a fight at a Bills game. Only time was close was in 1979 and a parking lot attendant starting mouthing off about something stupid.

Anyway, I will watch the fights as well. I guess I miss alot of stuff, cause I rarely have an issue with anyone, and my kids, ages 9 and 7, have been to two games each, and want to go back every year. Nothing but fun for them. Yes, they see some drunks, we make fun of them, we say see look what an idiot you look like when you drink to much, and hopefully they learn form it!

And yes, they hear some cussing. Usually the people doing the cussing when the kids are around are the same people who are the same drunks we are laughing at, and they associate cussing with being a drunken idiot. Not a bad thing in my mind.

Amen! Finally some common sense! The dweebs that get hot and bothered about this stuff and can't bear to expose their children to a pro football game are the parents of the kid who finally gets out of the house at college and starts smashing windows and becomes a general delinquent. You can't shelter from real life.

I saw fights and drunks and heard the F-word at Bills games from the age of 6 until now. I am not a fighter, a drunk, a criminal, or scarred for life. I was in the middle of a scuffle in the upper deck as an 11-year old at the Bills-Dolphins 1990 playoff game. I have had drunks puke in the aisle right next to me. I'm not saying those were enjoyable experiences, but I will say they created "atmosphere." It's part of going to a game, and I love going to games. Always have, always will.
