Just listened to Greg Cossell in the Colin Cowherd show. He was asked about what he thought about the Bills. I think this guy really knows his football.

Here's what he basically said. Not a great listen as a Bills fan. They aren't one of the most talented teams in the league, they aren't that good overall from a talent perspective, they lack  play makers on both sides of the ball, very poor WR core and Kalir is more of a WR3, , have to scheme up offense, and rely on Josh being Superman which is hard to be sustainable and win like that.

I know it's just one guys opinion but this guy really knows his football. Doesn't mean the Bills can't win it all. Nevertheless, this was pretty eye opening and deflating. What do you think?

I usually love what Cossell has to say, but he is dead wrong. The Bills are built for a playoff run.

Listen just like age catches up with coaches

It catches up with pundits lol

And I really respect Greg and he does know a lot about football.. he's a guy that I would respect more than most talking heads

But this is the exact type of offense that people would be drooling over for 20 years saying this is how you win in the postseason

If Patrick mahomes had our running game and our offensive line people would be punching his ticket to the Super bowl

He’s said this before and he’s right. But he’s not telling us anything we don’t know already.

He is basically saying what we already know. He is not wrong. On offense it’s Allen and Cook. If the opposing team stops Cook, then Allen has to go into Superman mode to win the game. We can't count on the defense to win us games.

But the last two games was turned on its ear by the defense. I know Burrow looked in total control but the strength of the defense has been winning the turnover battle. which usually determines the winner. We have trouble stopping the run and covering top receivers, but if we get TOs with Josh’s killer instinct, we can beat anybody.

Overall, he's correct and I always respect his extensive analysis. The Bills do have a handful of playmakers, but the health of several of them is tenuous nearly every year... but this also helps the depth player experience.

James Cook isn't a playmaker? Ed Oliver? Christian Benford? Kincaid? I get it... they need more playmakers, particularly on offense. But add one or two, somehow stay mostly healthy consistently, and things could be different. However, the in-game coaching...

Candidly, some good players but devils advocate-

Cook is a very very good player at perhaps the most devalued position in the league and comes off the field in many of the biggest moments. I think he’s electric but you’d trade him for JJ or Chase in a heartbeat at wr

oliver has good games but is not a truly elite DT. A good one but certainly not telling your kids you got to see him play. It’s possible to fill a top ten list at the position without him.

Benford is the closest to an elite player at a premium position but started the year cold.

Kincaid is tied for 93rd in receptions currently.

I’ll add bosa has potential for your list too…

but the theme would be getting these guys healthy and at their ceiling for a month straight and as much as I’m glad they are on our team that is still a hard bet to make.

If trubisky was our starter we might have three wins. Cosell spot on per usual.

This roster won nine games with tyrod Taylor and a worse roster lol

All time Hof QB, ✓

Top 3-5 oline , top 2-3 in run blocking ✓

Top te in Kincaid ✓

Organic pass rush when Bosa , Oliver & Groot are healthy ✓

Very promising young s & cb ( Bishop/ Max)✓

The roster is not top 5, but can we please stop pretending the team depth chart sucks.

Wr room is bottom tier but Shakir and Gabe are decent

Shavers is the next Stallworth imho 😉

Yea it's my dream that Beane sucks at drafting and free agency. I've been waiting since 1973 to watching a once in a lifetime QB being wasted. Eight years and zero Superbowls. I'm so ecstatic. Can't wait till someone drops fifty on this defense in the playoffs. I'm so excited I can't stand it.

Peyton Manning is 100% considered one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play

The most surefire quarterback ever drafted

He didn't even go to his first Super bowl till he was 30

The Buffalo Bills are considered by everybody to be one of the best organizations in football now we're not a dumpster fire

All true, but I would lean back on who really stands that clearly above us in the AFC? The worst we will get is a 50/50 game. This isn't close to the best iteration of this team. But the competitive landscape is just different this year.

I agree with you. We have seen better Bills teams. But I don't think we have seen the AFC this weak in years. I don't look at one team and say "Wow, look at how awesome they are!!!"

Now if we got to the SB and faced a fully healthy Rams team? We would probably be 5-6 point underdogs. They are a step above the rest of the league. We would probably need to score 40 points against them.

Well he isn't wrong. The defense has cost this team plenty in the postseason. Beane really has not done good enough in the draft or free agency. There are plenty of opponent message boards I look at, analysts, and fans who think Allen is being wasted.

Allen is not going to go SuperMan mode in four straight games against good to elite defenses. At some point, this defense needs to step up and have a game of their lives.

Our injured defense has cost us plenty of times

And it's not a excuse when you have seven fresh injuries from 6 days before going into Arrowhead lol

We're not talking injuries from 9 weeks ago which NFL professionals adjust to

We're talking we had seven fresh injuries and we played on a short week .. and lost by three to the AFC champions who had zero defensive starters on the injury report

2 years ago we were so injured we were trotting out AJ Klein at middle linebacker versus the Chiefs where again we lost by three lol

Playing replacement level players in a game of inches in a winner-take-all game is truly the difference because we lost by three

We did not lose by two touchdowns

FYI the Rams are not A step above the rest of the NFL lol that's a team where I can absolutely see the bills winning because they're not going to be able to stop Josh Allen and McDermott is terrific with two weeks to prepare
