….. pick 18???

That's why our strategy works so well.  Wait until the combine,  see which WR prospect runs closest to a 4.8,  and be super excited because you know he'll be on the board when the Bills pick in R1.

I don't know why other teams don't do it.  It's a totally flawless strategy.

Lies, lies, lies all drafted by Beane

Kaden Prather ran a 4.46
Khalil Shakir ran a 4.43
Marquez Stevenson  ran a 4.48

Looks like a group drafted by beane. One solid player and two guys currently in the landscaping business.

The veteran #1 WR trade route is extremely expensive in both draft assets and cap space allotment, and somewhat rare/difficult to pull off. And they usually come with baggage. Think AJ Brown, Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill...who else?

Remember that Allen was still on a rookie deal when Beane traded for Diggs, making it easier to fit him in immediately and long term.

Of course, Diggs then had a career year playing with Allen, and the Bills went to the AFCCG for the first time in like 25 years. So the expense was darn near justified in year one alone. AJ Brown was a VERY similar situation for the Eagles, except they got to the SB (and then won it two years later).

What are other examples of WR1s getting traded?

Fundamentally, I'm not disagreeing. I had been arguing for years that Beane needed to draft a WR with WR1 potential when Diggs was still on the roster. But if trade deadline rumors were to be believed, trading for a WR is already an approach that Beane was attempting to pursue. I think it's unfortunately the cost of his/his staff's inability to effectively scout FA's and draft eligible WRs... and despite his bravado and shooting his mouth off on WGR, I think he knows it (or at least knows it now).

To your ? about WR1 getting traded, in addition to the ones you mentioned, George Pickens comes to mind. Not sure what you consider DK Metcalf, WR1 or WR2. Certainly Davante Adams has bounced around. DHop in his twilight...

Un*****inginspiring after the big break first down. Did something different and innovative. Went back to stupid. Bubble screen. Run up the gut.
