GASabresIUFan Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Over his 81 game career Mecole has had 10 fumbles (only 3 recovered). So about 2 fumbles every 17 games. Codrington over his 21 game career had 3 fumbles (2 recovered). So also about 2 fumbles every 17 games, but Mecole also contributes in the passing game and has more "opportunites" to fumble. I'm not advocating for Mecole to be cut. In fact, I think the opposite. I think McD put him in a terrible position and should have insisted on punt returns be fair caught until he gets back into the swing of things. Prior to yesterday's game, Mecole's last NFL games was 11.5 months ago with KC. Quote
BRH Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Just by opening up the field with that deep route he has already contributed more to the team this year than Codrington, and that’s without even looking at the 61-yard return. 1 1 Quote

Buffalo716 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Not going to lie that was the one thing I was worried about with hardman I've seen him cough some up with the Chiefs too including versus Us in the playoffs I'm pretty sure He occasionally has fumbleitis Edited 1 hour ago by Buffalo716 Quote
GASabresIUFan Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago FYI Mecole only had 4 offensive snaps before his "injury." Quote

34-78-83 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago At the stadium, we saw the deep pass play to Mecole as a drop. Was that truly not the case? Quote

I hear that but he hasn't taken 1 to the house in 7 years I wouldn't say that's occasionally.. I would say it's happened before and not in almost 7 years Quote

Are coaches supposed to remind players not to make dumb decisions? Training camp or pre-season for young players, sure. That’s kind of what coaching is. Hey, base d here. FC anything either in front of you or just behind you (the latter I believe was the case here). Quote

Guns N' Rosen Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Speed kills Hardman has it With our other WRs and their speed, hypothetically, a critical mass is reached and the opponent then has to adjust their strategy in order to not leave a wide open WR out there Boxes get lighter in response, and against Buf that means the rushing attack adds Josh to it's home run threat, which creates another problem for the opponent to compensate for Hardman being on the field opens more elements of the offense up vs the guy he's replacing IMO NOBODY in the league is afraid of what Keon will do to them and it's apparent when you see what defenses throw at us when he's on the field. He brings almost nothing to the table, he's not learning HOW to bring anything, and he's at the point where if he was going to evolve into someone serviceable, it would be showing Quote

I think if you showed these stats to Beane he would say "Yup, I'm well aware" and still sign him. The thing is, Beane and McDermott are a lot of things. Thorough happens to be one of them. I predict that they both knew those numbers and are willing to absorb some of the bad for some of the good. They needed a jolt to the offense. They needed a jolt to the return game. He can provide both. And he did in the first time he touched the ball as a Buffalo Bill. I think they are willing to take the bad plays in stride if he can provide a bit of needed juice. The guy had 3 days of practice and hasn't touched a ball in a live game since preseason. I think the likelihood that he wouldn't have his best game right off the bat was high. The best thing they can do is use him as a decoy to run off coverage but also take some shots to him....if they connect, great, if not, he still opens up a lot underneath for others. Shakir had a massive void he was in thanks to Hardman last game and if Allen didn't take that shot to him, he could have hit Shakir for 25 yards on a crosser with nobody anywhere near him and he might have scored. 1 Quote

It wasn’t scored a drop for the same reason that an infielder doesn’t get an error when he really should have gotten close enough to make a play. Watching it on replay, it’s clear Hardman had a step and if he just keeps running under the ball it lands in his breadbasket. He will learn soon enough that he can’t outrun a Josh Allen throw. Quote

While that is true it also was a very long ball in some nasty wind. Quote

I understand he was signed to add a more dynamic presence to the kick return game. He broke one early and then on kick off they avoided him the rest of the game and got burned by Davis. I guess my question is should McD have been more conservative with a guy new the organization and has been out of of football for a while, especially on punt returns where the returner is under more immediate pressure than on a kick off. Given the score and the fact that we'd have had a short field even with a fair catch, I don't think I'd have risked the return in the that situation. Will the Bills cut Mecole over the mistake? I understand they announced he left the game with an injury, but I'm a little skeptical. It feels more like a benching similar to the one Cook received following a bad fumble. They should have told him to get away from the ball and not even attempt to catch it with the way the wind was blowing. Quote
