Draft cost for Shaheed- a 3rd round pick.

would you not trade Landon Jackson for Shaheed?

Would you not trade DeWayne Carter for Shaheed?

Is Shaheed as good as Amari Cooper? If he's equal to or worse than it's a bad trade IMO.

Beane is basically as good in the mid rounds as he is in the early rounds - should have given up a 1+ for Waddle or Olave.

There were several wide receiver needy teams in the market and neither of these guys was moved. Also the rumor was that Miami wanted a 1st and 2nd for Waddle.

I'm pretty sure your proposal would not have enticed a trade.

Yikes! After reading through page after page on Shaheed I feel I know him better than some of my own family members. What’s lost in all of this is any discussion about the Bills own missing person: Joshua Palmer. He was acquired this offseason (and not for free) to be our WR2 and in just seven games he’s already a complete afterthought.

Actually Josh Palmer has been mentioned many times in this topic so I wouldn't call him an afterthought. Also it's been reported that he's back at practice (limited) this week so he's getting close to a return and considering that he had 2 catches for 60 yards on 2 targets against Atlanta before getting injured, I think there's a lot of excitement.

I disagree. Palmer has been pretty much ignored to date. Much like the PED twins were ignored until Hoecht got in the game and showed why the Bills acquired him this offseason. I’d put Palmer in the same group. He was the third ‘big’ offseason acquisition and so far we’ve yet to see much from him. So, would it be nice to spend draft picks on a shiny new toy? I guess so? But I’d prefer they look inward to the shiny new toy they’ve hardly taken out of the gift box.

I mean, we could have offered two 4ths and a 5th. It didn’t need to be a third.

2 4ths and a 5th for a guy who has just 2 games in his nearly 4 year career over 100 yards?  A guy who is best out of the slot, same position our best WR plays?  A guy who is one dimensional in a style that our OC doesn't incorporate much?  A guy whose best trait is to catch the kind of passes that are our QB's worst throw?

Come on - I would have been fine adding Shaheed, but I would have broke something if we gave 2 4ths and a 5th for a guy who is gonna likely average 400-500 yards per season here.

I wouldn't get my hopes up so high. There are lots of good defensive tackles and cornerbacks in the upcomming draft.

Haha well played - this was funny, and yet while a fun joke its also quite plausible given the expected strength of the DL class.  Only way its a DB though is if there is a Safety there sticking out when we are on the clock.

And if WR isn't the first pick, we can still land a WR in rounds 2 or 3, looking around the NFL many of the best WR's in the NFL were not first round picks anyway.  So if we did go another direction in the first, I would think based on Beane's intentions this trade deadline that WR would still be an early pick.

Outside the draft, one guy I am going to have my eye on this offseason is if DJ Moore is gettable.

He doesn’t have to have 1000 yards to have an impact imo.

A guy like Curtis Samuel wishes he could average 400-500 yards here.

Yeah, he wishes they threw him the ball when he keeps getting open, but we don't.

Samuel:  Before Buffalo, he played 7 seasons between Carolina and Wash.  His rookie year he was a bench guy and wasn't used much.  His first in Washington he got hurt and barely played.

The other 5 seasons Samuel averaged 776 total yards per season (some were in 16 game seasons).  Shaheed has never had a single season even achieving Samuels 5 year average.  His best season he put up 756 yards (and that was in a 17 game season).

Just because Buffalo is not using him does not mean he can't produce.  But you are right though, I would bet he does wish Buffalo used him so he could average at least that, and it would still be his lowest averages of his career still.

Maybe Curtis Samuel at 27 is a different player than Curtis Samuel at 29 with a lingering foot issue.

he would hardly be the first gadget smurf to lose a step and basically be a zero overnight and out of the league shortly thereafter.

I don’t have a crystal ball, but I don’t think Samuel will hit 500 yards in a season ever again, let alone 776.
