He has to be better than Elijah Moore and Tyrell Shavers. Right?

You're not wrong.  I really expected (more hoped) that Shavers would be the one guy in the WR corps that took a big step forward.  He's become nothing more than a blocker on the outside.

What I keep telling myself is this: Gave Davis did exactly what you're supposed to do in the NFL. He worked hard, made the most of his chances and is an NFL caliber player.

The problem is that he's a rich team's WR 4 and a poor team's WR 2. WR2 is probably the most overpaid position in the NFL and the Jaguars offered a sum of money wildly disproportional to his capabilities.

That's not his fault, nor is it that Beane hasn't managed to get anyone who is appreciably better.

So welcome back Gabe, I wish we didn't need you.

Totally agree.  Well said.

This scenario happens a lot in today's NFL.

I obviously grew up in luxurious privilege because my mother never allowed bologna in the house, only top end coldcuts from Federal on NFB

I thought it was a treat when i'd have it at friends' houses lol

For me it was whatever the cheapest pressed ham was on sale that week between Super Duper and Topps at D&L plaza (each week my parents would go to both and buy whatever was on sale at each that week) - you know the fine grade ham that you had to occasionally remove the chunks of ligament from your mouth as you chewed

You mean the Genny Screamers that my Dad got on sale at Consumers and force-fed me as a baby?   😛

I've been a beer snob for, like, decades at this point but finally got sick of DOUBLE IPAs and everything else in that category

ironically, perhaps, I grabbed a 6'er of genny pint cans at the local sadness mart a few weeks ago and you know what? they're pretty good!  I remember in the mid 80s when there was one guy in our group with a solid sheriffs card and he would charge 25 cents a bottle for the genny pounders when he was buying for the group, and he'd net like 10 cents per based on consumers pricing at the time

Its a continuation of the sad state of affairs for Bills receivers when you have to possibly go back to a guy that literally can not get a job on any other team.  That's Beane's MO though.
