DapperCam Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago If the holding calls were even in the Pats game we probably win. It’s just one of those things. I think there were 7 accepted penalties on the Bills before 1 was accepted on the Pats. Quote
Southern McButterpants Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I read somewhere that Josh trash talks the refs - anyone else heard this? Given that guys like Hochuli and Cheffers loooooooovvvvvve the limelight and want their face on TV as much as possible and like to insert themselves into the outcome of the game, I find that if JA17 is bashing refs (and rightfully so) on field, they may decide to "play favorites." I've long said that the WWE has better refereeing than does the NFL. For a "legit" sports league, the NFL tolerates a LOT of BS from their referees. Quote

They throw a lot of horizontal passes to the perimeter and rely on precision blocking to make those plays successful. It’s not a grand conspiracy. I agree with this too. Not a grand conspiracy. Partly offense design and technique. But I do think also just some officiating randomness that may well even itself out as the season goes on. 1 Quote

This just tells me the refs choose to call it more on the Bills for some reason. It's because of Jerry Hughes 1 Quote

Bills have run 80 3rd down plays and 5 4th down (converted 3). 4 of 85 plays isn’t game altering. Quote

I don't have the data on the overall game outcome/impact of each specific Bills holding penalty vs Chiefs in past years to be able to agree with you. 1 Quote

This year I've tuned out more than I wish I did to the entire league. Just not the same interest as in the past. 1 Quote

colin Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago i think we hold some, and get called for it way more than other teams. part of that is how many people we have blocking (as mentioned, lots of wr and te blocking vs most teams). on the other side, i think the way we rush the passer and play the run (pass rush has been great, run d not so much) has our DL pressing gaps and lots of inside pass rush, vs having a burner outside pass rush or creative blitz scheme, so it's just like physically harder for the ref to see the holds. it seems to me when we have holding called on us, it's most often an outside guy or one of our Ts, less so interior lineman, i think that's nfl wide (altho i think holding is done kinda evenly, just not seen as much). lastly, guys like vrable and bellicheat before him trained their dline to do some kinda fake dive move, throwing their hands up when the play is beyond them, and i swear it gets them calls. our guys just like never do that, and i think mccoach would look down on taking a dive in general.
