The MAGA party controls all three branches. It’s on you guys. Surely you can appease 6 democrats by not taking away peoples healthcare?

You know as well as anyone that neither side cares about people, it’s about power and that will only be swayed by public perception, which right now has gone from 50/50 to a 55/45 lean R this week.   If it goes any further, Dems will break and vote for the clean CR.

anyone who thinks the shut down is due to only one side is completely foolish.

it's never just one side.  on top of that, were close to the longest shut down in history?  do you know whose presidency had the longest shut down so far?  it's not all a simple coincidence.  i'm down for discussion, but anytime this does anything wrong or it doesn't go their way, the other side is to blame, with no questioning at all.  i don't buy into that.

why doesn't maga just vote yes?  i certainly don't know all the nuances involved, but it just become so easy for this administration to place blame.  do you not put it past trump to drag this on?  the guy threw a giant tantrum over a canadian commercial to the point where he cut off trade.  that's insane.

R’s have a clean CR ready to go.

Simple as that.

7 Dems vote for it.  It’s over.

This fearmongering over losing SNAP is the equivalent of when the executives of networks and cable/streaming providers bicker over how to divide millions amongst themselves and flood programs with messages telling you that the other side is going to take away your station by January 1st and that we need to call them to complain.

SNAP benefits will not get taken away, the chaos that ensued from that would be much more costly than moving things around to make it work.  Even if the budget is not settled by then, there will be a "Last second miracle" that allows SNAP to continue.

The real problem is that not enough people realize that both sides are at fault and that their bickering always ends up taking precedence over our well being.  Talk does not matter anymore, only action when it comes to this budget. I don't care whose fault it is anymore.

Or they could hold off more and start to piss off the army!

That’ll be one way to get rid of MAGA

The partisans here are happy to chase their tails and go round and round about "the other Sneeches"...why nobody just blames Congress, who is at fault here, is simply a product of the internet filth that both sides consume.  It's a CONGRESS problem, figure it the F out, do your job.

I have to question the Democrats' strategy here, since they've put themselves in a very difficult position.

If they'd signed off on a QR, I think it's obvious that the Republicans would have to 100% own the end of the supplemental Obamacare subsidies. Now? Well, it's kind of a muddle in the eyes of the average low-information voter.

I think that's where we're headed, and I still think we'll see very significant blowback from some of the red state members of the House and Senate.

As long as Congress determines its main priority is to screw the other side instead of serving the American people then BOTH SIDES are not doing their job.  It's that simple.  Full stop.   It's not about a "play" or a "one up".  Their job is clear and they're NOT doing it: fund the gov't, pass laws and act as a check.  Which one are they doing right now???

The only thing standing in the way of congress doing their job is 6 democrat senators willing to put country over party and voting exactly as they did earlier this year.

Right, right…you don’t have to respond to everything you know? Sometimes it’s better to just hush…

My sincere apologies. Didn’t mean to trigger you.

Can you believe it’s only 6 democrat jackasses that stand in the way of military folks and air traffic controllers getting paid? Don’t even get me started on SNAP.

yer missin the point hoss, the job of Congress is to keep the f-er open.  That means negotiate...the other side of the mirror says there are 50 some Republicans standing in the way cause they won't strike a deal.  Look at that, we're getting nowhere.  Huh...

This whole standoff plays into their power.  It ignites people like you to be even more partisan.  You're not demanding anything from Congress, the body.  You're simply demanding movement from the other side.
