Keon will be moved around regardless of Shakir. I dont think Shakir will miss the game/snaps though. I fully expect Bmore to be aggressive and make us throw on early downs with single high looks, funnel coverage inside. Going to take 1-2 explosive plays outside the hashes to Keon or Palmer....going to be a dog fight all night with their secondary. This roster is pretty stacked in some positions. Anything is possible and yet I'd like to believe that Johnson is going to be a factor on the roster in 2025 in a stacked position. There is still a chance he is cut, traded, or even injured. Keon wasn't moved around much in 2024. He played outside and ran the same 5 routes all season. That needs to get better. Shakir may miss time and will be a top 5 position on offense for us this year. We need him every snap we can get but I don't know what to expect of him against the Ravens week 1 because I think both teams will play conservative knowing they will likely meet again in the playoffs. You're right, the Ravens want us to be explosive. It's the best strategy, make or break. At one point, however they were the most likely to give up big plays and that lasted most of the first half of the season. They start sluggish on defense. I have a feeling they will come to play against us. Should they win I could see them slouching after their big week 1 win. Quote

The Shakir injury is most concerning, as high ankle sprains can carry on for awhile and him missing these weeks leading up to the Ravens isn't good. Then you have LB, DL, etc. and its concerning. Agreed. Week 1 really sets the tone for the season and IMO the Ravens are the best team in the NFL. This could have huge implications for the #1 seed. 1 1 Quote

I think this was only true from like 2019 to 2021. It’s been a disaster since. Tre (twice) Milano (twice) The Bengals playoff game Hamlin Von The 2024 Chiefs playoff game - no LBs Benford Bishop Rapp (did he miss the Rams game?) The numbers weren’t too high but the injuries were of massive significance when we couldn’t afford them. Defenses can’t really overcome those. Offenses can if you have an elite QB to mask them. That’s why when Keon or Knox or Kincaid miss time, Allen is still going to get us points. When teams lose 1 or 2 significant starters on D it seems like they always go to ***t. That has not happened to the Chiefs in any playoff run. They’ve missed guys on O but not so much on D like ever. That I recall. 1 Quote
T master Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Rather have them now while they are getting in shape for the season than during the season . Hopefully they will be able to get them out of the way and when the season hits get on with it and their bodies will be topped off and ready to go . Quote
eball Posted August 5 Posted August 5 I don’t even think Shakir’s injury is worrisome. He doesn’t need practice leading up to the Ravens game, and if he misses that one, so be it. Everyone else except Hairston is on track to be available in week one, and Hairston wasn’t going to be starting anyway. If you’re really “worried” about the injuries I have a suggestion…shut down your media outlets for the next three weeks and tune in the Wednesday before the first game, when you can read the injury report and breathe a sigh of relief. BullBuchanan Posted August 5 Posted August 5 getting worked up about a potential implication of a week 1 game seems silly. Whether we win that game or lose it 40-0, it should have no bearing on our season outlook assuming we don't take big injuries. Quote
