First off, it's a generality. Just because you saw a few out of shape people at a Trump rally on the news it doesn't mean "a lot of MAGA are either lazy or physically unfit." It would like me saying "almost all liberals want a sex change operation." It's just pure ignorance. Do you really think it's only people who voted for Trump who are out of shape or smoking vapes? While the image makes me literally laugh out loud, I'd go ahead a bargain you have a few "fatties sneaking vape breaks" on your side as well. If the numbers continue to deteriorate farmers are just going to have to move ahead with times and stop abusing the system. They can continue to use the work visa and legal immigration system. They can stop pretending its pre-Animal Farm America and pay people what they are worth for the jobs they do. You may have been trying to make a point, but you missed the root cause of the issue. There are plenty of Americans who will do manual labor. But they want to be able to afford a house and take care of their families. This is why farmers use illegals, because they know they can house them in ***** holes, pay them just enough to buy cases of beer for the weekend and send a few American dollars back to their families. Believe me, you're standing up for the wrong thing in this case. If you care so much about immigrants, maybe start by making sure they are being offered fair wages and a chance to become the farmer one day. Not, to continue to be paid poverty level wages that doom both them and their families into generational indentured servitude. and just to be clear here I am not taking about a farm that has a few acres trying to make ends meat. I am talking about famers who have hundreds or thousands of acres that have provided generational wealth to their families. Look at the core values of both parties. Do you really think its MAGA who are sitting on their couches? It would be income suicide for a person sitting on their coach collecting welfare to vote for Trump. People from both parties inhabit the couch. But spare me the idea that MAGA isn’t entitled and in significant part out of shape. They’ve been bamboozled by the idea that immigration is an unspeakable evil and lack the introspection to inquire whether their own actions have led to their lots in life. 21 minutes ago, thenorthremembers said: Dude, statements like this are exactly why voters are shifting away from democrats. Do you support organized labor and the organization of farm workers? I do. The vast majority of Republicans, however, do not. And, check out the article in the BNews from a few weeks ago about migrant labor in Niagara County. A farmer is quoted as saying he hasn’t had an “American” apply for such a job in 15 years. Could it be wages? Of course. But is it true that Americans also are generally unwilling to do that grunt work, irrespective of the wage? Absolutely. 1

Of course the statement is a generality. But it’s not altogether unfair when one looks at obesity and mortality rates in places like West Virginia. I don't think I've ever personally called democrats pedos. I was a democrat for ten years. I just disagree with some of the current ideals of the party, I wouldnt say all. As far as the obesity and mortality rates, the difference between places like West Virginia and Illinois or Delaware is negligible, face it man America is fat. People who can afford to eat well, live to work and subsequently arent home enough to eat well. Many people in the places you pointed out are stuck in a cycle of poverty and dont have or know enough to eat well. Voting democrat or republican doesnt make you skinny.

And this is exactly the message that the fatties in MAGA are going to get from Republicans if the lousy job numbers persist.

That’s a talking point. Obviously they’re not. Just as all MAGA aren’t slobs. The cycle of poverty thing is a great point. You’re right about that. My beef with MAGA is not the frustration with the status quo. It’s the leader (Trump is a fool), the lying (pervasive), the character (immoral, for a variety of reasons), and the false sense entitlement. There’s plenty of good, hardworking MAGA who I respect and with whom I have no issue. But there’s plenty who are simply contemptible. They think they work hard, they crap on immigrants, they think the world owes them a favor, and they’re really lazy as they come. It’s a lot of America right now. They gotta get off their butts and get to work. Get those crappy jobs in the fields to earn and work and move up. Do the stuff nobody else wants to do. And they’ll find that the harder they work, the luckier they will get. 1

West Virginia certainly has more than their share of chunkies. 33.9% in reliably blue Erie County. That’s not so bad! https://www.health.ny.gov/statistics/prevention/injury_prevention/information_for_action/docs/2023-03_ifa_report.pdf I doubt the citizens of Erie County have gotten any leaner in the two years since this data was published.

Why the hell would any legal citizen go work on a farm doing back breaking work, in poor conditions, with no options for health insurance when they can make 17 or 18 dollars an hour putting together sandwiches at Subway or Burger King? Amazing to me that liberals will take to the streets to protest illegals being deported, but don't seem to care about how they are taken advantage of by farmers. Make no mistake about it, farmers may consider illegals "friends," they may show up to protest when ICE detains them for crimes, but they sure as hell aren't paying them a living wage or providing them health insurance. It's incredible to me how of touch with reality people are. COPORATIONS ARE BAD!!! RICH PEOPLE ARE BAD!! FARMERS NEED ILLEGALS TO DO WORK AND PAY SLAVE LABOR TO SO THEY CAN MAXIMIZE PROFITS!! Just because a corporation is dressed in flannel instead of a suit, doesnt mean they arent rich. The farmers paying these people minimum wage arent Ma and Pa Kettle from American Gothic. Agree. But be prepared to pay $10 a pound for cherries 9which are delicious this year). And perhaps no lettuce on your sandwich from Subway or Burger King. Lots of folks already eating ultra processed cheap garbage. If this happens, there will be more and they will be fatter and sicker.

Andy1 Posted Friday at 03:54 PM Posted Friday at 03:54 PM (edited) The immigration system is the way it is, because it suited the needs of both parties. Corporate republicans like illegals for cheap labor and Dems thought they were getting new voters. Trump exploited the issue to rise to power. If corporations exploiting labor are the problem, you should support the right to form labor unions so farm workers can get a living wage with decent work conditions and benefits. That will come with a subsequent rise in food prices. America can’t have both cheap food and farm jobs that legal Americans would want to work. Edited Friday at 03:55 PM by Andy1 1
