Which makes those teen fantasies seem a little weird now. She's in the class that wanted to be a rocker queen but her producers steered her more into the diva role. I saw her on an interview a while back and it was one of her regrets. You can hear it from her early songs, with her husband/lead guitarist given a long solo. He seemed to disappear on later recordings. Her voice got softer, the songs got softer. Eh, sorry cuz!! 2 Quote

Ingénue is as close as any imo. The Vancouver Olympics performance is all the rave, but I prefer this one. 1 Quote
CookieG Posted yesterday at 02:56 AM Posted yesterday at 02:56 AM But back to the topic...Janis Jopln remains the godmother of rocker queens. Her performance of Ball and Chain can still run chills through you. And Mama Cass in the audience saying "oh wow" is enough of a peer review and an inner statement by Cass that says, "I wish I could do that." Honorable mention to Joan Jett, who, after I love Rock and Roll took her to the stratosphere, went back and did a video of her older classic, Bad Reputation, giving a big FU to the 23 record companies who rejected her. 1 1 Quote

I'll take the blame for not making a specific enough thread title......lets just roll with it and see where it takes us!👍 Anyone else like a little So-Cal Rock every now and then?? 1 Quote
DrW Posted yesterday at 08:32 AM Posted yesterday at 08:32 AM (edited) I do not know your definition of a "rocker chick", but if you are looking for a woman who writes the lyrics and songs, sings and plays lead guitar, and is the frontperson of a (sometimes) hard-rocking band, I would nominate Kristin Hersh. No, her looks won't blow anybody away, but her musical ability should. Kristin started the Throwing Muses in the mid-1980s with her stepsister Tanya Donelly, and has since fronted a variety of bands, mostly trios, under several names. I met the 2 main players in best coast at show Cults was performing at. If you are in LA you will have heard that every summer free concerts were provided at the Santa Monica Pier. My son said this was by far the most people to hear his band play live. tens of Thousands of folks on the beach for a free show. Best Coast were back stage at the event. They're socal rock stars I kept my distance but we did meet. Cults and this band would tour constantly together on the summer tour circuits and they were very much friends. we nick named them best cults. This IS socal indie rock 1000% the Cults footage from that Santa Monica pier show was crappy but anyway I haven't heard this band in years Edited yesterday at 10:53 AM by muppy 1 Quote
muppy Posted yesterday at 10:58 AM Posted yesterday at 10:58 AM oh well I may as well post this. Madeline Follin and Cults at the Santa Monica pier. For the record the beach at night can get really cold. she was wearing that thin dress and when she came off stage the girl was FREEZING. I gave her my jean jacket right away until she could change Quote
muppy Posted yesterday at 11:09 AM Posted yesterday at 11:09 AM this is super cool.In NYC one day a year the city dismisses all noise ordinances. so this was a show Cults played on the roof for that day abducted Madeline follin cults SPIN magazine Nate playing his blonde Gibson Ripper that was later destroyed in their practice space during hurricane Sandy. 😞 Quote
