This marks the third time Trump fell asleep in the courtroom, according to reporters who were present. Haberman’s observation was posted to the Times live feed of the proceedings. Jury selection was still underway on Friday after twelve jurors were seated; six alternates still have to be chosen. Opening statements are expected to take place on Monday. Trump’s tendency to doze off in full view of the court has been the subject of mockery throughout the week. I understand the key violation is Sarbanes-Oxley which was written and intended to address financial reporting deficiencies in government/SEC required disclosures resulting from Enron. Which is Federal law. Shouldn't enforcement and interpretation be left to Federal courts? Not tried in some State county court? Given the Feds apparently have no issue, what business does NYS have with this? Or jutlrisduction? My other observation is Trump must have the absolute worst and most expensive legal representation possible. Firstly, these charges are based on the loosest and most pliable legal interpretations. You'd think a high priced legal team could blow holes in these flimsy arguments. And file muliple motions for disissal. To censure the judge, the prosecutor, and correctly argue an impartial jury cannot be found in the jurisdiction. Something everyone knows is true. But nothing. Say what you want about Trump, but based on the number of live events he attends, the number of public appearances and commentary on the world, and his perpetual battles with haters of the media/government variety, it’s obvious he’s a very high energy guy. I believe the scientific term is “ants in the pants”.
