I think you wish that the Democrats had the infighting that the Republicans are doing now you know they look like *****

Would be nice if you all held them responsible vs blind loyalty.

But right now the left is 100 unison with whatever PACs and Dems tell you is the way .

That’s an interesting way of looking at it what it looks like to most people is that they’re just united

Some thing the right has destroyed with their inclusion of Maga

  • Tiberius changed the title to Disfunction Junction, What's Your Function, House Republicans? Embarrassment To The Nation

Eight Republicans are officially running for speaker.

On Monday night, House GOP lawmakers heard from each candidate in a closed-door forum.

On Tuesday morning, the conference will hold a closed-door secret-ballot vote with the goal of selecting the party’s nominee.

A floor vote on that nominee could happen as early as later Tuesday.

House Republicans are meeting Tuesday morning for the third time since the ouster of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as speaker to pick a new GOP nominee. Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) has been the top vote-getter in the early rounds of balloting but has fallen short of a majority. Candidates are being eliminated after each round. While Emmer is considered the front-runner, he is not a favorite of some backers of former president Donald Trump and his allies.

Emmer has won the caucus vote for speaker.

Now to see if he can win it on the floor…

I wouldn’t be shocked if some Dems voted “present” to lower the threshold

Because MAGA won't be happy with a guy who said Biden won

Asked how many “no” votes there have been for Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) in the roll call so far, Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) told reporters, “Too many.”

House Republicans Have Chosen Another Speaker Nominee - What Happens Next?

By Jeff Charles

The House Speaker saga continues on Capitol Hill as Republicans have put forth a new nominee: Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN).

House Republicans nominated House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) for Speaker on Tuesday, making him the third GOP lawmaker who will attempt to get 217 votes to secure the gavel.

The conference selected Emmer — the No. 3 House Republican — for the position in a secret ballot during an internal election that lasted three hours, choosing him over six other candidates vying for the job. Two Republicans withdrew their names from the race before voting began.

Emmer, 62, will now take his nomination to the House floor, where he will have to muster enough votes to win the gavel — a heavy lift that the previous two GOP Speaker nominees failed to achieve. If all lawmakers are present and vote for a specific candidate, Emmer will need at least 217 votes.

Sounds like political power play, perhaps to spread chaos.

There’s precedent here, see Jeffries, Hakeem.

Would have been the exact opposite of that.

Had they gone through with it, the Dems would have helped the GOP elect a Republican speaker for nothing in return.

So, creating some stability without extracting concessions. The opposite of a power play to spread chaos.

If, however, you’d like to see a power play to spread chaos, the House GOP is right there. A handful of members completely disrupting functioning government because they have the emotional and intellectual bandwidth of toddlers.
