Don't compare California with the rest of the country.   They are very much unique.

How so? Are you saying that if they raise the min wage elsewhere that it won't result in layoffs? I'm a business owner and I can ensure you that it will. If you are forced to pay people X amount of money they you will just hire less of those people and make them work harder

I mean the vast majority of liberals don't look at Cali as some pinnacle of liberalism.  Many of us think they're nuts too.  Cali is their own unique thing.

What do you think is nuts about CA liberalism? Curious? In other words, explain for me the difference between liberalism of the majority and CA's liberalism?

I'm obviously referring to diggz post about min wage.....

Also some of their crime reform, high taxes, talk of reparations.   That's off the top of my head.

Are you surprised?  Most of us are center left.

Very surprised but I'll take you for your word.

Most liberals seem to be pretty solid liberals; even those that post here

I haven't seen much here that makes me think anyone on the forum is far left.  Have you?

I mean, I see some trolling and some Hyperbole.  Ok a lot of Hyperbole from the left.

Not far left, but certainly not middle left. From my perch the right here seems to be more moderate to me. In the eye of the beholder perhaps

Agree.  Virginia is pretty centrist right now.  I'd be very happy if it was reliably blue for Governor and President and still centrist.  That's about where I am on the spectrum.

I've been told their Governor is next in line for the presidency. Will you vote against him?

Things have shifted so much in the past 5-6 years that if you were truly a centrist then by now you would be considered alt right.

-personal freedom

-marry whoever you want

-don't judge anyone by the color of their skin

-no wars

-anti establishment

Me in 2008 = Center left

Me today = looney tunes alt right white supremacist terrorist

Nothing about my views changed, so what happened?

I would vote for a shined up turd over your guy yeah.  Blue no matter who until hes gone.  Also, he wouldn't push Cali type bs on the country,  no chance.  He understands the rest of the country is different.

It currently makes me a Proud Boy apparently. Because I don't trust the people in power and the non-stop corruption in Washington, which is how every American should feel. Every single politician is a multimilionaire while making a 150k per year salary. How are they not in jail? They work for us, not the other way around. "I don't work for you" - Joe Biden

Nope but he's the only one going against the socialists that has a chance to win and policy wise I'm very much aligned with his views. He will stop the illegal immigration and deport the criminals who snuck in, he will end all wars, he will put America first and fix the economy and crazy spending. And then in 4 years get someone who is not a nut job on either side

So he will destroy the economy, then. That's what you want? Illegals are a huge and very important part of our economy, and they make their own lives better, too.

Why would you want these people treated like animals and run out of our country where they are making us stronger, more prosperous and diverse?

We also need to shut down CIA. That was a war time creation and it was never meant to exist during peace times. I'm against shadow government and non-elected officials having any power whatsoever.

ILLEGAL immigrants are good for the economy? That's a new one. LEGAL immigrants are awesome for this country and we need more of those after we do full background checks and ensure they have skills that will lead to a successful life in America. We don't need criminals and drug runners coming across bringing more crime with them.

It's really just common sense, especially if you understand basic economics

Trump is trying to harm the American economy by scapegoating immigrants

As far as I know he is talking about exporting ILLEGALS only. I would be very much in favor of drastically opening up LEGAL immigration as well. Add whatever resources they can to speed up the process and do this the right way.

Election finance reform and term limits are the answers. wanting them is not anti establishment imo. To me, that term connotes the desire for more fundamental changes to our government and society.

Ok understood. By that I mean to say I want changes to government that were not intended or have become corrupt. Common sense changes such as term limits, lobbying, insider trading, eradication of the "deep state" or the "swamp" essentially

I would also like to see more than 2 parties. That's too much "us vs them" and concentrated power. Currently if you vote 3rd party you might as well stay home. I'd like to see 5-6 less powerful parties.

Yeah you're lost, you fell for bs.  Name some Socialists in power.  There are none.  Name someone pushing socialist policies,  there's nobody.

So my tax money didn't pay off people's student loans or give debit cards and hotels to illegal immigrants? I wish that were true

I could make a good argument Liz Warren is a socialist.  Members of "The Squad" in the House.  Bernie Sanders.

And without making a judgment about whether its good or bad policy, I could name policies such as wealth confiscation and income re-distribution as socialist dogma.  Whether its of good value to society, Social Security Medicare, and Medicaid taxes force workers to pay a tax that redistributes funds to retirees and low income people.  Or for that matter, any government interference in the lives of private citizens that legalizes the transfer of benefits without cost to one group at the expense or at consequence to another group that derives no benefit.  While I don't want to do the homework necessary to identify the specific people responsible for those things, those are socialist and therefore they could be considered socialists.

Are you against progressive income taxation?  Without it, wealth would be much more concentrated than it already is. With wealth comes power which would also be more concentrated   I would certainly have more money. But I think it’s necessary to avoid having 5% very rich and everyone else poor.

Ok.  Then it needs to go back to it's mandate of only working outside the borders.

There are adjustments that could be made, and I'm not sure how much is done inside the borders.

But......The inability of the FBI, internal, and CIA, external, to be able to coordinate is exactly what led to 9/11.

The redesign of the intel universe in the US was absolutely necessary with a changing threat.

I'm not a fan of the dhs either.

It's my opinion.  They shouldn't be active on us soil.

Using the bond market to increase prosperity sure is capitalism. If you don't have the bond market for CITIZENS to invest their money, you know what the governmnet has to do? Raise taxes! No thanks
