Drive to win?

I wish I could speak from experience, but my impression is 13 seconds was a huge motivating factor during the off-season for the players, coaches and management.

Once the season starts, it’s a whole new ballgame and the players’ inherent competitiveness is what drives them to win. Especially this year, there have been so many immediate challenges, that last year is not a factor.

That being said, I feel like if they won the Super Bowl last year, they would not be in the same position this year because the off-season may have evolved much differently for management and individual players.

I think if the illuminati continue on their current course then the lizard people are going to be the QBs of the future past and we will have to worry about tiny robots that can form a neural network capable of playing linebacker better than Tremaine Edmunds.

I have always thought had the Bills won Super Bowl 25 against the Giants, they would have ended up with 3 championships and no losses, and would have been the Team of the Decade…

After beating the Giants, they would have repeated against the Redskins- if you recall, the game started slow because the Bills were uptight after their loss the previous year…If they had a superbowl victory under their belts, they likely would have been more confident and relaxed, and opened up a lead against Washington…

1992, when Kelly got hurt, is the year I don’t think they would have gone back to the superbowl…Having won the previous 2 superbowls, I could see them not having the drive to overcome 31-3 against the Oilers in the Wild Card game…To me, they won that game BECAUSE of the superbowl losses- and determined to make it right…

Then in 1993, the Bills would go back to the Big game, and would’ve had the confidence to finish off a Cowboys team that they had take the lead on, going into halftime…I’ll never forget what Jimmy Johnson said going into the tunnel midway through the contest…He said he knew his team  would win because when he looked over at the Bills, even though they had played well and were up 13-6, the look on their faces seemed like they had already lost…I never forgot that…🤯

Bills would have been 3-0 in superbowls, and all because they would’ve had the confidence after beating the Giiants…Oh well…one can dream…👍

I can see that playing out. I think had they beat the Giants they would’ve made it to one more and won it. The team would remain a force but not have made it to another SB.
anyone who believes that getting so close and losing wouldn’t drive you harder , has no idea. I’m not so sure that had the bills won last season that they’d be here after all the team has gone through.

My hope is that the Bills aren't put into a position where they have to manage another 13 seconds....I want them to win the next 4 games 51-3.  I will have major PTSD when/if the Bills make it to another SB.

Seriously...It will not be a fun experience for me if the Bills make the SB this year.  It will be all nerves and anxiety for 4 quarters.  And if they do make it and lose...it will be soul crushing.

Motivation/emotion only lasts a series or two…

IMO, unless JA cleans up his game, and I mean CLEANS UP, we won’t get past the semi finals.
Diggs will be rock solid, as I see Davis also being solid.
Except for the O line ups and downs, the tools are there
Those off target passes and red zone interceptions though… will kill us dead in the playoffs, and he’s been consistently showing those current flaws.

Mahomes and Burrow are better at this point in the year.

I expect to see Playoff caliberJosh, but if we don’t, it’ll be over fast.

I have replayed Wide right through my mind so many times in the last 32 years. That kick goes through and everything changes going forward. They definitely go into the 1991 season with a swagger of a winner not the false bravado they had. They probably win at least 1 more SB because they dont choke or panic when things unravel (just as they did in the next 3)

As for this current team, 13 seconds should be a serious motivation. I cannot believe that any of the people who experienced it on the Bills dont feel angry or cheated. They won that game and then choked it away with bad execution and coaching. I'm hoping that the Bills with all of this season's adversity, find another level and finally get it done. I think most pro teams would have folded by now so hopefully luck/karma is coming our way!

Hello friends. I was thinking about the adversity this team has faced all year, no need to rehash as everyone knows. I then started to think about 13 seconds and that got me thinking of the 90’s bills.

A lot of people believe that if the Bills had won one of the first 2 Sbs they would not have gone back again at least consecutive seasons. The thought was the losing when they were so close drove them to get back.

Do you guys think that being so close last year and yet so far is driving this team through the adversity?

You think if they had won the SB last year this team would have folded?

curious to know your thoughts.

Do you seriously think up this line of reasoning?

I think the 90's Bills wanted to win every game they played.  And if they had won one of the first two bowls, they would have been just as hungry for 2 and 3.

Same for these Bills.  Every year is a new season.  These guys are professionals.  They want to win every game they play.  They were not going to fold this year regardless of what happened last year.  If nothing else #17 and #14 were not going to let that happen.  And neither would the coaches.  You are paid to do a job.  When you are on the field, you block out the rest.  These aren't 12 year old girls.  These are men.  Tough football players who want to knock the crap out of their opponent every single week.

I think you missed the point. Every team wants to win every year. It’s just different when you’ve made it to the apex. You don’t have to agree it was just a discussion point. And to be honest this has been discussed by others including pundits and ex players in the past.

My thoughts as well.
