^^^^^^^^^^ showing how desperate this "investigation" is^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The irony and perhaps comedy value of this entire charade is how rags like the NY Times, other media, and all the associated twits our friend here cites lots of sources that claim to have access to secret and confidential forms of evidence and communications proving the guilt of the former President, and now apparently others in some wild conspiracy.

Which if true was leaked illegally by somebody and published illegally by somebody.  So you're using illegally gained confidential government information to support the arrest and conviction of somebody in possession of confidential and secret government information.  The exact same thing.  Do any of the clowns signing off on these stories realize the contradiction of the very laws they express so much concern over?

Do not expect this date to hold. Florida is one of the states with what’s called a “rocket docket” where cases move very quickly. That being said, this will almost certainly be pushed back due to pretrial motions.

However, it is at least a good sign that Judge Cannon isn’t 100% going to screw around with the case. She still may, but at least she seems to want to keep it moving.

Can a federal judge be removed/disbarred?

Nope. The only removal process is impeachment.

A party to a case can file a motion requesting the judge recuse themselves but it's not a sure thing the judge will do so. As far as I can tell, Jack Smith has not filed such a motion for Judge Cannon. That's probably the correct call. Despite her egregious behavior and lack of understanding how the law works in the previous Trump case she handled, it was technically a separate proceeding. Smith should be open to filing a motion should she behave similarly in this case, but should only do so when she has demonstrated clear bias in the case.

bummer.  Know a single senior federal judge well enough to call him a friend.  Salt of the earth, wonderful, dignified,  dedicated, honest man.  Not even sure which prez appointed him cuz it doesn't matter to me.  There must have been much better choices than Cannon.

You don’t like the judge because she doesn’t agree with your views? How about removing the prosecutor who seems hell bent on taking Trump down no matter what? You’re perfectly fine with him I bet!

I don't like a judge who makes biased decisions in court based on politics...trump broke many laws.  it is right and just to "take him down" when this is proven in court.

Many of the judges appointed where appointed solely because they were extremists and young (and therefore would be on the bench for decades). Several were very unqualified for the job entirely.

That being said, just because Trump appointed a judge doesn't mean that the judge is a "Trump judge" who will throw away the law in favor of anything that helps Trump. Most are just very, very conservative. Cannon, however, has shown herself to be a "Trump judge" who just makes up the law to be whatever helps Trump. This is why she was benchslapped by the 11th circuit for being terrible at her job.

Maybe the experience has chastened her. Maybe not. We'll see.

Nothing has been proven. Let’s start with joke and when he took classified documents as a SENATOR!!! He had no legal right to take them in the first place! Weather he “returned” them immediately after fifteen years of keeping them or not. You can’t return something you illegally stole and claim it was a mistake.

You would have to be a special kind of stupid to believe that.

Cannon made up legal policies that didn't exist and completely warped the rule of law to benefit a party. It isn't like "Oh I didn't like Scalia because I disagree with him," it's a judge making up rulings out of whole cloth that contradict established law.

Judge Cannon Just Set an Incredible Trump Trial Date

In a baffling turn of events, the Donald Trump-appointed federal judge overseeing his Mar-a-Lago classified documents debacle appears to have placed the case on warp speed—setting a trial just two months away.

On Monday morning, federal court records showed that U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon created what's referred to as a “rocket docket” to speed his trial through the system.

Cannon issued an order stating that the most historic criminal trial in American history will commence Aug. 14. That’s just 55 days away, while most federal trials take up to a year or more as both sides prepare for an epic showdown in court.

Eh, only having three years as a judge before joining SCOTUS is a pretty light resume but at least Comey Barrett was a law professor for about a decade before then.

AG Merrick Garland takes a page from Dr. Fauci to defend DOJ integrity

You no doubt remember when Dr. Anthony Fauci, who was fed up with anybody who dared to question his recommendations, proclaimed essentially that he IS the science and therefore his "expertise" is beyond reproach. "Fauci" and "science," so we're to believe, are completely synonymous:

Now that the Biden Justice Department and Merrick Garland are under fire for the sweetheart deal Hunter Biden received, the AG has joined Fauci in the "how dare you to question our methods" club. If you question Garland, you might be a threat to "democracy," according to... er, Merrick Garland:

After AG Garland Denies Main Justice Interference,

IRS Whistleblower Reveals Names of Witnesses to Show Garland Lying

Things are getting spicy in/around Main Justice in DC. On Friday, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Deputy AG Lisa Monaco denied any involvement interfering with the decisions made by USAO David Weiss regarding the investigation of the Hunter and ¹Joe Biden bribery and tax fraud scheme.

However, in response, the IRS whistleblower is now naming additional witnesses to Weiss’s statements. Through his attorneys, whistleblower Gary Shapley is now naming additional witnesses to the statements of USAO Weiss:

(snip)

Those six witnesses include Baltimore FBI Special Agent in Charge Tom Sobocinski and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Ryeshia Holley, IRS Assistant Special Agent in Charge Gary Shapley and Special Agent in Charge
