thenorthremembers Posted June 5, 2022 Share Posted June 5, 2022 (edited) A good start would be providing mentors and counseling for kids from Fatherless homes.  A good start would be figuring out why 72% of minority families and 25% of all families are led by single parents.  While beyond tragic, the gun issue goes way beyond Buffalo and Uvalde.  60 people a day are murdered in the United States.  As usual our government is missing the point.  Red tape laws will only mitigate the issue of people using legal guns to murder.  Will it look good for midterms and on the news? Yes. But what the laws won't do is prevent illegal firearms for falling into the hands of mentally unstable and violent people.  They are not digging deep enough into root cause analysis.  Edited June 5, 2022 by thenorthremembers Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You act violent, you turn over your guns  https://www.pumphreylawfirm.com/blog/everything-you-need-to-know-about-floridas-red-flag-law/    Sounds like it may be a really good start but a lot depends on the interpretation by the person making the claim.  i could see some pissed off girl friend/ex wife or visa versa making a claim just for vengeance of some sort so there would have to be some type of checks & balances or investigation of sorts to determine if the claims had merit .  Because if they didn't it could 1 add a lot of undue waste of resources on bogus claims & could make a actual innocent persons life because of those claims a living hell .  Plus if you add some of the corrupt politicians that are in our gov't they could just as usual use a law such as this to over step their bounds if a person were to just piss of a politician or group .  So good start but i could see it go in a bad direction in some cases which all that needs to be taken into consideration prior to implementation of such a law which taking things into consideration & planning is not one of this administrations strong suits as recent history has shown . B-Man Posted June 6, 2022 Share Posted June 6, 2022   I’m beginning to think that the short-term goal of Democrats is to get Republicans to give in on red flag laws as their “compromise,” and in return the Dems will make a lot of noise about keeping their hands off the 2nd Amendment.  However red flag laws are blatantly unconstitutional, and are an easy back door for the government to confiscate your guns: they get an anonymous tip that you are a dangerous extremist – after all you were spotted at one of three Stop the Steal marches with over 100,000 participants each – and therefore they need to take away your guns before you commit an unspecified act of sedition.  (It’s ok, if the tip doesn’t pan out, you get them back. Uh huh.
