The gambling billions aren't affected by a football player playing a parlay.  Come on.  Legal betting has been around for ages and no one cares or even knows if players have been laying bets for decades.   Supported/partially owned/encouraged/NFL sanctioned betting is just a ne way of doing the same thing.

Just like drug testing has done little to curb NFL PED use (like gambling, only the dumbest players get caught) nor has it affected the "billions of dollars" rolling in before or with legal gambling, none of this really matters.   The money will always be coming in.  People (on this site especially) have assumed the game is rigged anyway----yet they simply cannot get enough of the NFL.  This will never

PED testing isn't in place to catch every single player. It's in place to give the appearance of a clean game. With testing in place everyone can walk around naive thinking dudes that look like Watt are natural (😆😆😆).

Same with gambling in sports, except even more important. A dozen+ dudes get popped for peds every year, and people assume they're bad eggs (when its by far the majority).

It'd take only a few players caught gambling to destroy the appearance of integrity in the games. A few dudes get caught and the advertising costs for sportsbooks would plummet, or leave all together. A casino can't be caught in bed with a league that isn't putting out a fair game, being associated with it puts their credibility completely at risk with the public.

So yes a $1500 parlay could easily contribute to a 10 digit figure loss of revenue, just on gambling side. Add in potential ticket sales losses.

Everytime network deals renew the nfl is pushing for absolute maximum dollar increases, hard to justify doing that if people think it's WWE and hsve evidence. Huge snowball effect on every last dollar generated.

No chance this is true.

You're saying every fan knows that most players are already cheating by taking PEDs, plus every fan is aware of the cheating scandals that have rocked the NFL....yet the game is more popular and generating more revenue every year.  As for this one player, the overwhelming public sentiment is not that he has broken a sacred trust with them by attempting to stain "the integrity of the game", it's that people feel he's been screwed by the NFL.

All you have pointed out is that fans can now assume a ton ("most"?) players lay bets on games through apps like you and I might do.  They would be wise to set up accounts not traceable to them.  Smarter ones than Ridley have figured this out.

Posters here constantly moan about the NFL becoming the WWE---yet here they are!  On Sunday/Monday/Thursday, no one cares for a few hours.  Gambling or PED--it's all just for show by the NFL.  And NO casino is going to stop taking NFL bets in their books---ever.

I wish they could but NFLPA would spend millions to defend him.

Wow…gotta love the Browns! They missed out on a chance to have Russell Wilson or Josh Allen for a one and done contract with Mayfield. Life would be so different for us if their front office at the time was anywhere near as competent as ours!
