If so, he's not very smart. His value is at an all-time low because of the injury. He has to prove he can still play. Neck injuries can end a career. I don't see a team offering him 15M+ on a multi-year deal only to have him be forced to retire. I don't want another Wood situation.

Time will tell, but I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t get 17-25M per year.  His guaranteed money may be at an all time low, but the dude is a legit all pro DE when healthy.  Guys like him get paid big bucks.  He’s not a yannick Ngakoue pass rusher.  This dude is a monster

We need someone who can actually get home, not another "vet to help develop the younger players a la Lee Smith".

IMHO we already have a plethora of them in Hughes, Addison, Star etc.

Agree we have enough vets on De line that don't need anyone to be taught.  Even the overall roster is old enough and experienced enough that don't see any positions that need the grisly ole vet any longer.  Hyde, Proyer, Hughes, Star, Morse, Mongo, have been around long enough at this point.  Plus at this point, the offense belongs to Allen and Diggs.

I think we could use a vet to help the young TE develop - it's one reason why we were interested in Greg Olsen last season.

But at Edge, we need a guy who can GET THERE

You don’t think he can’t get to the QB still? He had 6 sacks last season. 5 in the 8 games he played in Seattle

I'm asking!  I don't watch Seattle a lot.  We all know there are different kind of sacks.  There's the coverage sack where the QB has time to run around looking, then there's the OHSHIT JAILBREAK Judon or Donald type strip-sack

I did some digging and was surprised by some things here.  The first link is an article about his successful surgery.  What I find incredibly surprising is that it also includes a tweet from Ian Rapaport that says that Hunter’s agent was demanding a new contract that would make Hunter the highest paid defensive player in the league or trade him.  That tweet came BEFORE Hunter even had his surgery.  Wow.

The second link is his contract, which runs through 2023, so he has three seasons left on it.  It is a 5 year deal worth $72M.  That’s huge and ranks 7th among DEs in AAV, but it is way below market for a healthy Hunter.  But who is giving him such a massive deal without knowing if he will stay healthy?

Well yeah I'm making assumption, there will be an experienced TE brought in the next couple of days/weeks.  Also feel TE and Edge aren't worth drafting at, at least not high as we could draft the next Bruce Smith, even more unlikely at #30, but even if we did, I think a guy like Johnson with two years NFL experience and two years in the Bills system, plus throw in his ST play would likely outplay a rookie edge drafted at #30 in 2021, and maybe even 2022.  From what I recall even Bruce Smith took 3 to 4 years before he really became good, can remember him struggling against though much of that may have been due to him not caring alot about playing the run.  He just wanted sacks early on it seemed.
