I can get caught up in a good story like anyone else, but while occasionally curious, I'm almost always cautious.  It's been my default for most of my life.  Part of the reason I have enjoyed this forum is the exchange of ideas, some mundane, some out there a bit, and I've seen it from both sides of the aisle.  I try not to get too deep on things that require major leaps of faith.

I'm honestly less impacted by some of the stuff that was shared here (and always enjoyed interacting with DR and the rest of the folks who left), more on some of the crazy #### that passes for "that's just the way we do things in Washington".    I know we've beaten it to death...but Trump facing prison and what amounts to a life sentence over concerns about classified documents v Biden taking/securing documents over many years in office (and none with even  the question of a President's ability to declassify broadly) and it being a minor speed bump in his political legacy far outshines any thoughts on Epstein and the like.

This from the guy who thought Hillary was fast and loose with national security and wanted to lock her up without due process.  But Trump?  Saul Good, man.  Have those secrets flopping around all the illegals working at mar a lago. What could go wrong?

CHUTZPAH, THY NAME IS NEW YORK TIMES:

Times: Epstein Suicide Conspiracy Theories Show How Our Information System is Poisoned.

This is the same New York Times that, just for example, completely misreported the Trayvon Martin case (going so far as to deem George Zimmerman a “white Hispanic” to further its narrative, a phrase the Times never otherwise used) and was the leader of the lynch mob over phony rape allegations against the Duke lacrosse team.

Just last week oped columnist Michelle Goldberg reiterated the myth that Trump called neo-Nazis “very fine people.”

But it’s the rest of the “information system” that’s poisoned. Physician, heal thyself.

So you believe this?  Or just making a joke of it?

remember things can always get worse. Like Bondi and Dan Bongino.

Now MAGA worshipers are claiming that Trump is probably playing a trick to use the info as a blackmail.

"There's a part of me that believes Trump is behind all of this," said former multilevel marketing mogul and YouTuber Patrick Bet-David on his show, "because Trump wants to use this as leverage to negotiate against the enemy.

Notice how the cult always spins things to calm their lizard brains.

It still amazes me that the Cult of Trump managed to spin the following established facts into a criminal conspiracy that TRUMP would reveal:

- Trump had a long relationship with Epstein, who was a frequent guest at Mar-a-Lago

- Epstein got a sweetheart plea deal from Alex Acosta, who was then offered a position in Trump's cabinet

- Epstein was found dead while in the custody of Trump's Bureau of Prisons

- Ghislaine Maxwell arrested, and Trump quips "I wish her well"

- Trump hires Alan Dershowitz

- Dershowitz's former accuser, Virginia Giuffre, weirdly recants and says maybe it wasn't he who raped her after all (she confused him with another yellow-toothed goblin?)

- Virginia Giuffre kills herself.

And now add:

- Trump's AG/FBI Director have determined that there is nothing of interest in Epstein's files and that he did, in fact, commit suicide

And somehow the Cult says it's all about ... Bill Clinton? Who was last president a quarter century ago? I mean, it isn't too difficult to construct a fine and simple conspiracy theory around those facts, right? And yet we have the bizarro Hillary Clinton baby-eating cult as the favored one.

Clinton playing fast and loose with national security is a matter of public record (and to be sure you don't drift off and confuse me with someone else--Clinton was not charged, was never going to be charged, and 55pc of the way through Trump's admins has not been charged).   I'm really not certain how you missed that, but you appear grossly misinformed about all that.  I'm surprised.

DJT played fast and loose with classified material, and I thought that an unforced error on his part.  i said that at the time the DOJ was raiding his house.  I think he should have returned the classified documents when the Biden DOJ demanded it, knowing full well the democrats would go all out to put him away for life given the chance.  he shouldn't have given them the chance, though they likely would have moved anyway.

At the same time I was suggesting DJT made a mistake on the classified documents issue, I suggested that the number of high ranking officials in possession of classified documents/material was likely near 100%, and some criticism was thrown my way.  A short time later, Joe Biden magically found records from his time as VP and Senator, clearly in violation of the law.

In the end, it really just seems like mishandling classified documents was business as usual until it involved Trump. I believe most sensible Americans saw the disconnect, saw the inequity of the Biden DOJ, and pushed many to vote for Trump.

It’s a temporary injunction lasting just 14 days while the court determines if the law is an unconstitutional bill of attainder.

Without weighing in on the merits of the claim, there are two important things that make sense here unless you’re in the cult:

1. The Constitution prevails over laws

2. Temporarily pausing the enforcement of a provision of a law for two weeks to determine if the provision is unconstitutional makes more sense than allowing enforcement that causes permanent harm even if the provision is later determined to be unconstitutional.

Or, you know, hurr durr deep state or whatever.

You’re stating to make zero sense. It’s ok to realize the party you worship is just another political organization.
