What are you talking about?

Tre white who's a very good corner or a freaking QB like Mahomes/Watson?

Again, it's not even close.

Fwiw he's saying tre white>a mahomes/watson drafted and coached up by the bills - which is a valid point when you try to make these hindsight comparisons.

If the question is between mahomes now v. tre then duh, mahomes. But it wouldn't have necessarily worked out that way so it's a moot point.

Everyone realizes that he was in CAP Jail right?  It was a blunder to trade AJ but when Nate out performs him in practice and preseason what to do you do?  YOu cannot judge Nate on one game from last year regardless..  You also cannot predict that Josh would get hurt...

QB's were in short supply this past year.

Interesting. Bill Obrien sucked until he got a QB...

Speaking of which, Anderson at the end of the game looked like a guy who wanted no part of playing NFL football ever again.

He sure did.  I'm sure this isn't what he signed off on - he was supposed to be the third QB acting as a mentor/extra QB coach to the two young QBs ahead of him.  He was not supposed to get thrust into live action and pummeled relentlessly.  He was enjoying a nice retirement, golfing and hanging with his kids.  He's playing like he wants the ball out of his hand quickly.

Wait.

So you don't draft them because they wouldn't be successful with the Bills due to coaching/personnel here compared to where they are?

Thats good logic. ?

Not even close, where did I say you shouldn't draft him because he wouldn't have played well with the Bills? All that was said was there's a better chance of Tre White developing in this organization than either Mahomes or Watson, which is still an opinion. But you can't use the argument of "if the Bills took either Mahomes/Watson...this or that would be better" because there is literally no guarantee they end up anywhere near the player they are now, and it is more likely given the defensive mind of the HC and appalling assistant coaching staff that neither QB would have thrived by being drafted by the Bills. It's a complete hypothetical and can't be used as tangible fact.

The point was in asking someone who would you rather have drafted, tre or mahomes you can't assume that mahomes would be the player he is now if the bills drafted him.

Ok.

Ill simply it for you. Unless you have a franchise QB already, QB>>>CB. Always.

I'll simply it, too. Just because you don't have a franchise QB already, you always take QB with your first overall pick, even if another BPA grades out better? I mean, it's a strategy for sure.

The proof is that the team fired Whaley the next day. Either they had already decided the class sucked or it was clear he had no power and was being kept on to prevent him taking his scouting reports and appearing as a "consultant" elsewhere.

I don't know why this is difficult to understand.  Whaley and his scouts built the draft board and acted as a resource for the draft.   Nothing more.

McD made the picks using that board and how he wanted to structure the team.   That some of those picks have turned out to be questionable is entirely on him...

To be fair, the broad consensus in spring 2017 was that the 2018 QB draft was going to be a better one. It wasn't just the Bills who (apparently) believed that; most knowledgeable observers did. And when 2018 arrived, the Bills did move heaven and earth to get a guy who was already highly touted by many after the 2017 season as the most gifted QB in college football.

EDIT: Read this -- https://www.si.com/college-football/2017/05/16/josh-allen-wyoming-cowboys-2018-nfl-draft .

A good CB doesn't even compare to a good QB. It's not even close.

It's QB way high on the totem pole and then every other position

Again, you assume that Mahomes/Watson were always going to be the players they are in making that comparison. Also worth mentioning that Mahomes was not graded to be a BPA at that pick nor was he considered "good" heading into the draft or even his first year in the NFL. People were actually surprised at the Chiefs choice.

But you are right, two different positions cannot be compared equally by logical standards.

I understand your point, but wouldn't it be nice if we had a proactive FO?

The fact that 2018 was supposed to be the year of the QB doesn't really absolve them of making a mistake. It just means the Chiefs were the team that boldly made a great decision and we failed to do so.

I guess you could say that not taking Mahomes was a mistake (although 20/20 hindsight is a helluva drug), but it's way to soon to say that because we simply don't know how Allen will turn out. He is quite young and has already played more than Mahomes did in his first season.

And Allen was already being pegged by many in spring 2017 as the #1 overall pick in 2018. He wasn't that, but he was certainly under consideration for that pick. Allegedly, the Browns' second choice was Allen, not Darnold.

And it could have just as easily went the other way. Not saying so to discredit your post as I also agree sometimes those decisions are necessary. But for a GM/HC banking their entire futures in Buffalo on landing the franchise QB, knowing this fanbase has an utter lack of patience, does picking Mahomes (as he was graded out to be, and not who he is now) seem like a decision they'd make?

I have seen this when he has gotten hit in the pocket and needs to drag himself up off the turf as well.

Do we know how much $$$ he is making?  This guy lingered around the league a long time.  His career earnings must be pretty solid.  Unless he has been foolish with his money, he shouldn't really need more and you kind of have to wonder why he's doing this.

He is likely more concerned about his health long term now than making money.

And I don't blame him at all!

My point being I can see him tapping out of this gig at any moment, for real.

Maybe not at halftime of a game he's playing in (LOL) but he could call it a day at any time!

I'd bet a lot of money he figured he'd get to hold a clipboard for a cool near-million for about 3 months and then get back to the links. Disaster struck, however, when Peterman mistakenly thought that he had been traded mid-game to the Texans.

That's probably about right.  I guess it's tough to NOT throw another million on the pile for doing nothing for 3 months.

Then he became the starter, and the plan went south.

LOL. I wouldn't be surprised if he's swearing at McBeane now, yelling "I signed on to be the effing third string quarterback, NOT, the second string one!!"
