If we keep Tyrod...

Far too early to write the book on Shaq Lawson or Ragland. Let's see what they do with a full training camp and OTAs and a season on the field . Sure year one is a disappointment and there are concerns already with SL but far too soon. As far as Whaley is concerned , the best his work to date can be described as is mediocre. The Lawson / Ragland picks are a part of that. The players themselves still have a chance to be difference makers. As for Cardale, he's raw and a long shot at best. What you do early in the draft affects what you are able to do later. Giving up a fourth for Ragland meant the Bills would have to use a third on Prescott if they wanted him. Whaley gambled and was stuck with Jones.

its a bit early to call a 4th round qb drafted last year a blown pick

tremendous tools....hasnt even played that much ball

Yeah it was a worthwhile selection.........you gotta' take shots at finding a QB.

That said......the reality is that Cardale really hasn't "won" a starting job since High School.

And there are people citing "what are the odds" with regard to Tyrod becoming a franchise QB and talking about Cardale as an answer in the same breath.

There was a fair amount of chatter about the Bills and Prescott.

Might have been smoke but it was the same with Russell Wilson.

"What happens to a dream deferred?"

Always be thinkin' quarterback.......except when you don't have one.....then ALWAYS be thinkin' quarterback.

1) Good pros are cheap and easy to find in FA........first rounders and high seconds(a 2 and two 4th's for Ragnuts) are supposed to be impact players.

2) Almost zero production thru the first 25% of their contract is not a death sentence to them becoming replacement level "good pros" but it's a real rough start on that investment in aggregate.

I say 25% because the fifth year option on Shaq ain't gonna' be cheap so he could end up in FA the same year Ragnuts does if he continues to scuffle like he did in his 10 games this year.

I hear you. I think their ceilings are higher than you seem to, but we will see soon enough.

Yes there was, some of it from John Murphy who obviously hears a thing or two from those in the know ( regardless of his shilling for the team). Whaley is a riverboat gambler with the draft when it comes to non - QBs. Seems to have cost him a shot at some legit NFL starters.
