Suddenly we have so many needs

ganesh

Recommended Posts

After DB sacking and allowing PW and JJ to test FA, we suddenly require

filling of so many positions

1. Backup QB (Can't be a Travis Brown kind of guy)

2. Backup RB

3. Starting TE

4. Starting LG

5. Starting LT

6. Starting DT

7. Starting CB

and then of course we need depth at so many positiopns

like 3rd WR etc.

Not only does it look like the Bills will need a starting LT, they wil also need a backup as Marcus Price is also a UFA!

I guess we don't need a kicker?

Personally, I would think that is one of the most important positions we need to address.

1. shane matthews has offer in hand......if not him, many others available in FA

2. 2nd day of draft

3. "starter" is debatable.....either way, lots of good options in FA or in the draft

4. defantiely should be addressed in FA given the flood of talent available

5. shelton will be the man

6. could be an internal promotion.......depth on 2nd day of drat

7. "starter" is, again, debatable.......first day draft pick would add depth and push mcgee

The most significant need is to restructure the offensive line.

Is the OL really in shambles? We ran well and even Bledsoe stopped getting sack very often. We need to make sure we do not have a dropoff without JJ and also tweak it slightly, but it is better than it has been in awhile.

It really only seems like it this time of year......

I personally see the following things as a need:

- We need to get our Left Side O Line situation straightened out......we need to know who our LT and LG are going to be....and we need to resign Marcus Price

- We need a backup QB with experience

- We need a Quality TE

- We need to get our DT situation straightened out....I gotta say that I hate when a player talks about loving the area, the team, and taking a home town discount....then his agent talks it up the other way to every one else......Pat Williams is a player I would like to see stay here....but there are PLENTY of DT's on the market.....someone brought up Chris Hovan....I would LOVE to have Hovan on this team

- We also need a backup RB

Thats it....and we have free agency and the draft to find these items....we are in good shape

Hey, we weren't good enough to make the playoffs last season. So look at these replacements as possible upgrades that will put us over the top. Bledsoe sucked, Jennings got hurt (again), and Pat Williams did not do a good job of pressuring QBs. Have patience that TD will do right by his team. I think we're on the verge of being a perenial playoff team again.

It's not in shambles. It just doesn't have any quality depth and could use an upgrade to the interior (especially LG). We do have talent on the right side in Villarrial and Big Mike. The left side? Well, Jonas' situation is up in the air and the LJ Shelton deal is far from being complete.

I guess you feel we're okay in terms of depth and talent at the CB position. I don't.

Remember, Pat Williams' number one job was not to put pressure on the QB, but to stuff the run, then to occupy the OL so the linebackers could finish the job.

I agree. We are a leg injury on a kickoff return away from potentially bringing us back to the Chris Watson nickelback days.

255604

Unfortunately in this era of the salary cap, you can't have great depth at every position. We would be in deep sh-- if an injury occurred to the following players....

Lawyer Milloy replaced with Coy Wire

Eric Moulds replaced with Josh Reed

Takeo Spikes replaced with ???

Aaron Schobel replaced with Ryan Denney

Willis McGahee replaced with Joe Burns

Lose any of these players for any amount of time and it's going to hurt your team. You hope that you can avoid the injury bug, but if it does strike, you can somehow come up with a decent alternative.

7. Starting CB

255497

I don't think we need a starting CB... McGee will continue to improve with experience, he's got a world of upside.

The question is whether or not Jabari Greer is ready for the nickel position, cause I'm not sure that I want Kevin Thomas back... I look for the Bills to take a CB on day 1.

Which I think he miserably failed against some unknown Willie Parker in

the season finale, when everything was on the line.

The style of play of JP is very injury prone (as evidenced by the Falcons

with VIck) and we need a capable QB who can come in and win games. I

am not sure Shane Mathews is that kind of QB.

I agree we are going to get a bunch of players from the Draft, but you

can only draft so many good players and especially we don't have a

first rounder yet.

I am not sure McGee is going to go in as the starter. He is going to

compete for the starting job to be paired with Clements.
