3 Best and Worst Whaley Moves

Doesn't matter?! the reason we pass on wilson is because we have fitz!

He also brought in Chan Gailey - who was a joke when he was hired and a joke when he was fired. We never won more than 6 games during Nix's time here. And he oversaw the 2010 draft - we legit have 0 players from 2010 on the roster. People complain we don't have enough drafted players... thats why! That's 6 years ago... we extended 0 players from that draft.

So so wrong. They passed on Wilson because Nix and Whaley couldn't figure out he was an easy choice in the third round. Whaley cut his teeth in the NFL as a scout and he told Nix to pass on Wilson. They settled on the worst WR the Bills have drafted.

Actually costs more to keep him when considering more than money.

Do we want to field a roster...? his cap hit is 16.7 in 2017, or 32.7 if we cut him. If we split the hit over 2 years its about the same. If we keep him for both years... its about the same.

You're saying cut a player for no pick compensation, and pay him exactly the same amount, as well as eat the same amount of cap charge.

So... we signed fitz to an extension in 2011 mid-season. Didn't draft a QB in 2012 - Wilson, Cousins, Osweiler, Foles... Then drafted EJ in 2013. In a terrible draft, because Fitz wasn't good enough. This screams good player evaluation?

You don't think that extending Fitz had anything to do with us not targeting a QB? Also - that extension is on nix, and it was a terrible terrible move.

Not necessarily in order, here are some of the fiascos....

1) Drafting Sammy. He mortgaged the future and lost.

2) Giving Dareus a billion dollars.

3) Taking the behavior clause out of his contract.

4) Shaq - looks like a mistake but it's admittedly early.

5) Gave up to much for Ragland.

6) Gave the Eagles a 4th for that running back who lasted 10 or 15 minutes.

7) Was, and still might be in love with EJ.

8) Too much money to Clay.

9) Percy Harvin.

10) He is an undisciplined poor planner and throws away the Bills resources at will.

11) Rob Ryan. I mean really.

Other than the above, he is pretty good.

Best - He makes some downright inspired FA and trade moves.

Worst - Cutting Fred Jackson. His leadership has been missed on a team that desperately needed it in 2015 and 2016. It set the wrong tone.

Who did Carroll sign to be their starter for 25 million just before he drafted Wilson?

A smart GM would have hedged the bitter pill of resigning a guy like Fitz......by drafting his replacement--for nothing.

I mean....really. How simple was this?
