'Strike for Black Lives': Workers to walk off jobs in Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Thousands of people across the country will walk off their jobs in protest on Monday, including in Rochester.

Dubbed the "Strike for Black Lives," workers are striking as a response to racial and economic inequality, which they say has deepened during the pandemic. They're demanding action to confront white supremacy, the public health emergency, and the broken economy.

Nursing home workers at the Pearl on Portland Avenue in Rochester will picket starting at 11 a.m. Monday.

Labor unions, along with social and racial justice organizations from New York City to Los Angeles, will take part in a range of planned actions. Where work stoppages are not possible for a full day, participants will either picket during a lunch break or observe moments of silence to honor Black lives lost to police violence, organizers said.

Michelle Malkin beaten by BLM thugs and prevented from speaking at Denver pro-police rally

by Peter Barry Chowka

Original Article

Conservative author and activist Michelle Malkin was brutally assaulted and prevented from speaking as she made her way to the speaker’s platform at a pro-police public rally in downtown Denver on Sunday. The patriotic event, the 6th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day billed as “family friendly,” was advertised in advance on social media including at Malkin’s Twitter, where she has 2.2 million followers. (snip) Malkin was live streaming the event from her cell phone on Periscope Sunday afternoon as the situation deteriorated after masked thugs wearing Black Lives Matter t-shirts assaulted two speakers and then set upon Malkin.

Homeland Security making plans to deploy some 150 agents in Chicago this week, with scope of duty unknown

Also, 100 mile border zone refresher.

blah, blah blah, democratic talking points... but buried in the article:

On Saturday, the president of the Chicago police’s largest union had sent Trump a letter asking for help from the federal government in putting a lid on crime in the city.

“I am certain you are aware of the chaos currently affecting our city on a regular basis now,” John Catanzara, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7, wrote in a letter that was posted on the FOP’s Facebook page. “I am writing to formally ask you for help from the federal government. Mayor Lightfoot has proved to be a complete failure who is either unwilling or unable to maintain law and order here.”

So far in 2020, Chicago has experienced one of its most violent years in recent memory, especially since late May with the fallout over the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minnesota. Through July 12, homicides in Chicago were up 48% with 385, compared with 260 at the same time last year, official CPD statistics show. Shootings were also up by 46%.
