Mark Vader
4th and 15....I'd take my chances there. Me too. Yes, the Bills were awful today, but they came back to take the lead. That bogus penalty was big.
ToGoGo
Can you give me an example of any corporation and business in any industry in the world that has stupid and incompetent employees at positions as crucial as NFL referees are in?

KDS73
Awful call but the Bills never should have been in that position. This.
ToGoGo
Congress? Nobody gets to that level by being incompetent. You're confusing competence with corruption and backroom deals. In my experience, true incompetence does not go much higher than mid-level manager. Anything higher is a result of nepotism or something similar. The executives that SEEM incompetent know damn well what they are doing and what the costs are. They just have different goals. MattM
They may have won, but remember that it was 3rd down, not 4th down. They had another shot after that if it wasn't called. It would have been 4th and 15. Even I like this odds. Edited October 25, 2015 by MattM
Dan
It's completey unbelievable that a multibillion dollar league does not have professional, full time referees for every game. Especially, when you consider how thick and obtuse the rule book has become.

Especially, when you consider how thick and obtuse the rule book has become. And that they don't get punished for making these kinds of mistakes. After all the awful calls across the league this year, the only referee to be punished is the once who screwed up the clock in the Steelers game. The question becomes: WHAT WOULD IT TAKE? What would it take? How BAD would the refs need to screw up? How consistently would they have to screw up without punishment? Before you would consider that perhaps they're not incompetent, but actually fixing games?

It's completely inexcusable to make that call with Robey in perfect position there and trying to make a play on the ball.

ToGoGo
Nothing happens till a whistleblower steps up and calls out corruption. His name was Tim Donaghy and he was in the NBA. Unfortunately he was smeared and everyone move on like it never happened. Whistleblowers won't make a difference because NBC, FOX, ESPN, and CBS all have billion dollar NFL contracts. Can you say conflict of interest?
KDS73
I hope some of the players are looking in the mirror after this loss instead of making excuses like a lot of the fans are.
Bocephuz
Yeah, but he did, and then they still had 2 1/2 quarters to play. That has absolutely nothing to do with blown calls by the ref in the 4th quarter. Point is he played well enough in the second half for that blown call to be meaningful. Goodell needs to send a memo to the refs, if it's a close call keep the flag in your pocket

Deranged Rhino
You're not allowed to throw blind side peel back blocks anymore since the Hines Ward days. But it wasn't blind side. It was head on, Poz took a running start at Woods and still got lit up.
