Iran Nuclear Deal Reached

Recommended Posts

Who did we give up?

7 prisoners of Iranian descent who violated the sanctions by providing Iran dual use materials for their nuclear program. We also took 14 terrorists/murderers off the Interpol watch list. In comparison, the Bergdahl deal was a steal for the U.S.

So what you're saying is that when John Kerry leaves politics he'll likely be hired as the Bills GM?

So in her Iran statement Hillary decides to sound tougher than Obama & Kerry rather than contrast with Republicans.

DEM lemmings' circuits overloading with confusion. Dear Leader says Iran good; the First Uterus says Iran bad.

Hypocrisy.........anyone ?

.@JohnKerry says two tracks of diplomacy -- nuclear and prisoners -- "not related." But then says it was.

Genuine question: why is Kerry even going through the pretense? Not a single reporter in the room believes him.

Clinton: "The treatment of our Navy sailors earlier this week was offensive, including the release of a demeaning and provocative video."

Why does one think this story is going to change?

White House: Prisoner swap had ties to nuclear deal but a ´one-time´ situation

by Greg Wilson & Perry Chiaramonte

Original Article

These were the same prisoners the right wing press was screaming about that should be released and Obama was not doing enough for? The cries to heaven over this were as deafening as the silence of appreciation for the same right wing media.. Edited by gatorman

Really? Worse than Reagans hostages for billions in weapons? Then we saw them just grab more hostages.

Good job Mr Obama

Well to be fair it should be Reagan's American hostages exchange for 1,500 missiles going to Iran, who knows what it cost?- plus Reagan was a good guy who reminded us fondly of our slightly senile grandfathers not a uppity Black man.

This is quite a development: the US government just made a direct payment to the Iranian government of $1.7 billion.

"So, nuclear deal implemented. American families reunited. The third piece of this work that we got done this weekend involved the United States and Iran resolving a financial dispute that dated back more than three decades. Since 1981, after our nations severed diplomatic relations, we’ve worked through a international tribunal to resolve various claims between our countries. The United States and Iran are now settling a longstanding Iranian government claim against the United States government. Iran will be returned its own funds, including appropriate interest, but much less than the amount Iran sought," Obama said.

That payout to Iran from the United States? $1.7 billion.

Secretary of State John Kerry said today that the settlement is $400 million debt and $1.3 billion in interest dating back to the Islamic revolution.

That's separate from the sanctions windfall Iran will receive.

"We have now cut off every single path that Iran could have used to build a bomb." —@POTUS #IranDeal

They will never dare risk our fearsome arsenal of strongly-worded condemnations

"Until Saturday, Obama had never granted a pre-trial pardon to anyone, nor had his predecessor, Pres George W. Bush"

Today’s liberal foreign policy, to adapt Churchill, is appeasement wrapped in realism inside moral equivalency. When it comes to Iran policy, that means believing that we have sinned at least as much against the Iranians as they have sinned against us; that our national-security interests require us to come to terms with the Iranians; and that the best way to allay the suspicions—and, over time, diminish the influence—of Iranian hard-liners is by engaging the moderates ever more closely and demonstrating ever-greater diplomatic flexibility.

What a bunch of horse crap. Opening up Iran to the world is a defeat for the hardliners there who want to close off their society and not let "dangerous foreign ideas" in. Nothing is guaranteed, but business interests and cultural exchanges intertwine usually and will hopefully bring Iran along in a peaceful manner. The Iranian people are not our enemies and they benefit greatly from this deal. People said it was appeasement to open up China. Was that a bad idea?

If you think Iran doesn't have a nuclear bomb program and a long range missile program, just look to North Korea. That's where their testing and development is located. Iranians are present at every test the NKs do. But peace in our time B. O. will get us blown to pieces soon enough.

Oh, and they've taken three more hostages.

Is China ruled for fundamentalists that campaign on killing the great Satan? When was the last time China took over our embassy and held us hostage? How about providing material support to terrorists actively engaged in killing American citizens.

Its not the same comparison.
