Rule passed banning (Pats*) use of ineligible receivers

Recommended Posts

If it comes out that the coaches and players were told to tank the season, the team should be punished. If it's, as I suspect, that they truly just suck, then there's nothing you can do or say.

Cool.

if it comes out that someone in the Pats organization was told to deflate balls, then the team should be punished. If not, then there is nothing you can do or say. Right? Guess you will be quiet then, huh?

This is so wrong it's not even funny. You see, in every league, a team finishes in last place. But not every team has 11 of 12 balls deflated with no other (non-laughable) explanation than they must have done it.

I think many will disagree with this. The Pats were responsible for those balls, if someone in the organization cheated, the organization can be held responsible. They don't necessarily have to prove who it was, they already proved to some level that it happened. At the very least, they used illegal footballs. A scapegoat is not required.

So you approve of what the Sabres are doing?

That might be b.c you don't know what intelligence looks like.

Mocking those that are less intelligent is just poor form. Its incumbent on us more enlightened posters to hold ourselves to a higher level of discourse as an example for the rest. Taking pot shots at Tom and the other dullards is unbecoming of a poster of your stature.

Sure, why not? They were already terrible, they might as well get something for it. Also, they are hardly the only ones, other teams went full sell out as well. It's also worth noting that the NHL changed the rules this year and next year to avoid tanking in the future. After this year there is very little reason to tank again, but if the Sabres didn't do it this year fans would be crying in outrage over the missed opportunity.

Most importantly, it's legal. They are not breaking any rules. The Patriots clearly did, on multiple occasions, it's not even close to an equal comparison.

The Jauronimo du jour! A brilliant post on several levels.

Luckily the officials alerted the pats of their poorly infalted balls at halftime in the AFCC game. Once playing with proper ball pressure, they were able to come out of halftime and trounce the Colts and then go on to win the SB.

Had those balls remained underinflated, NE doesn't beat Baltimore..

Baltimore was before the Colts and before it was discovered. And there is the ineligible receiver thing as well.

Well, had the refs pumped up the balls before the Baltimore game as well, it wouldn't have been as close a game and NE wouldn't have resorted to that tricky "ineligible" that the ref identified and announced to...everyone.

Whether the under inflated balls helped is irrelevant. Personally I think the Pats would have won either way...However cheating is cheating.

If you found out Tom Brady did steroids between 2011-2013, but stopped before the 2014 season...Is that ok, since the steroids didn't help apparently?

The Pats were down 14 points when they pulled out that inegible cheating thing, that was "announced" seconds before the ball was snapped. It's pretty obvious why they had to resort to it.

They weren't cheating then... Also blame the refs if you are complaining about the ball being snapped quickly.

The substitution rules are there for a reason. Hence the reason it was outlawed just recently.

Actually the league ruled that the plays by the Patriots were illegal after the game. However the refs didn't know how to call it, the new rule basically clarifies that.

Certainly you can't punish the Pats for that, since it isn't their fault the refs didn't call it. BB has proven he's willing to "push the limits" so long as he can get away with it.

This is the Cheatriots Rule, it is too late to matter WRT when the cheating happened.

maybe the league / refs will play closer attention the new BB gimmick plays

I'm sure they'll pay close attention. They'll probably help design them.

you are on a massive troll

The deflated balls is not about just passing but ball control itself.

Then running of illegal plays after the ineligible eligible play is what was wrong. What was it they Cheaters bragged about? Learn the rules? You do remember cocky Brady saying that after the game right? Well then either the Cheaters didn't know the rules or chose to ignore them aka cheat

you should think about a change to your name maybe Mr Pats Defender
