Bills vs. Packers preview

By Mike Rodak and Rob Demovsky | ESPN.com

The Green Bay Packers are winless in five trips to Buffalo, so naturally Aaron Rodgers wants to make history.

"I'm surprised we've only played them five times up there," Rodgers said Wednesday. "It's going to be great to be a part of the first win in Buffalo, I guess."

While the Packers (10-3) are cruising toward home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs, the underdog Buffalo Bills (7-6) are hanging on by a thread in the AFC playoff race, needing a win in their home finale Sunday to stay in the picture.

ESPN Bills reporter Mike Rodak and ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky break it all down:

Kyle Orton has the attention of Packers' defense

Back in 2011, when the Green Bay Packers were unbeatable – 13-0 unbeatable – they mowed down an impressive list of quarterbacks: Drew Brees, Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, Philip Rivers, Jay Cutler, Matthew Stafford, Eli Manning and Carson Palmer among them.

Then came Kyle Orton.

Actually, they beat him once, too. In Week 4 of that season, he quarterbacked the Denver Broncos in a 49-23 loss at Lambeau Field.

Bills-Packers is the NFL at its smallest

Few know how similar the NFL life can be in Green Bay and Buffalo better than Packers quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt. Van Pelt, who joined McCarthy's coaching staff in 2012, played all nine of his NFL seasons in Buffalo, where he was mostly a backup from 1995 to 2003 but started 11 games.

Week 15 Intrigues

Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers vs. the Bills front: The Bills are good at getting after the quarterback, although they didn't get a sack of Peyton Manning last week. The Packers are playing on a short week, so that could be a factor as well. Rodgers is great at moving away from pressure, but the Bills come from all angles.

Pack bring couple of WNY’ers with them

The Green Bay Packers have a pair of Western New York natives on their roster, so the two will be coming back home for Sunday’s game.

RB James Starks, who played his college ball at UB, will be back playing against the team he watched growing up. So will OL J.C. Tretter, who hails from Akron, NY. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy had nothing but good things to say about both players.

5 things to watch for during Bills - Packers

By Joe Buscaglia

It’s do or die time for the Buffalo Bills. After 13 games the Bills still have a slight chance to make the playoffs, but need all three remaining games to end in a victory.

With all due respect to ties, they aren’t all that common, so, it all boils down to the Bills going 3-0 over the final three games. Among the trio of contests are the Green Bay Packers, who have won five in a row and have averaged 40.2 points per game amidst the stretch of consecutive victories.

The Bills boast one of the best defenses in the NFL, but do they stand a chance against the offensive juggernauts that hail from a small town in Wisconsin?

Some things to watch for during Sunday’s game:

Can the Buffalo Bills Beat the Green Bay Packers? What Must Happen

By Dan Hope

It’s not a good week for the Buffalo Bills to desperately need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

While the Bills can be glad to return home, still owning a winning record and still sitting just one game back of a wild card spot, their final game in Orchard Park this year comes against the Green Bay Packers, who own the NFL’s longest active winning streak at five games.

No team in the league has been playing better than Green Bay. The Packers have won nine of their last 10 games, a span in which they have outscored their opponents by 14.4 points per game on average.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been both the catalyst and backbone of the Packers’ success. Having thrown 35 touchdowns this year versus just three interceptions, while he leads the league with 8.78 passing yards per attempt, Rodgers has emerged as the clear-cut choice—barring a shocking collapse—to be the NFL MVP for this season.

Rodgers and the Packers offense, which leads the league with 32.5 points per game, has looked nearly unstoppable, especially in recent weeks (they’ve averaged 40.2 points per game over the course of their active winning streak). If anyone is equipped to slow down Green Bay, however, it might be the Bills, especially with the advantage of playing at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

The incomparable Aaron Rodgers: Packers QB on another level

As an inhabitant of the AFC East division, the Buffalo Bills have to deal with future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady twice a year, and as we all know, it certainly hasn't been a fruitful endeavor.

Brady has been victorious in 23 of his 25 career starts and no opposing player in the Bills' 55-year history has ever haunted them quite like Gisele's husband. But if there's a silver lining to all the misery Brady has inflicted on the Bills, it's this: At least Buffalo doesn't play in the NFC North, where it would have to tussle twice annually with Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers.

Missing Searcy is a big problem.......I am not yet a believer in Duke Williams......we will find out today. If I were Rodgers, I would go after Williams big time, see if he can play.

I agree. He seems to take some bad angles too.

Shame about Searcy-- he just started to hit his stride. I thought the Browns game was the best of his career.
