Mean while wgr-55 is talking Burger King Pie

Recommended Posts

i liked the pie story, it took five minutes away from the "we still know nothing about ej" and "eff bon jovi" and "will terry pegula get the bills?" topics. these little nonsensical ramblings are amusing from time to time. of course, that is just my opinion. i listen to a lot of wgr while working (lots of drive time) so a lot of these little breaks for me are just that, little breaks. i suppose if i only listened for five minutes a day and those were the five minutes i caught it would be quite different.

If only there was this system. Like, a net or a web. But one that was like, worldwide. So that you can get sports information from everybody to the New York Giants, to the 1978 Cleveland Indians, to a little league team in Pocatello Idaho. So like, if you weren't getting the information about the topic that you want on the radio, you could go there. Maybe one of these days. Till then, I'm just gonna complain online.

He was seriously thinking about hiding the receiver when the switch broke 'cause it's old.

They're saying things that he can hardly believe. They really think we're getting out of control.

So you better do as you are told...

TBD is the best source of Bills news, hands down. It's like a sports department with a staff of thousands on duty 24/7.

Mike shope is a joke

Please fire this guy

Agree, to a point.

Let him have his Saturday morning card collector show. It's good filler for that time slot (if you're into that stuff).

With that said WGR is refreshing compared to the two local Cowboy loving sports radio stations here in San Antonio.

I listened through the pie.

I don't care if Romo is starting the first preseason game or not.

Enjoy what you have.

He was talking bed coverings yesterday. I guess he needs to lighten things up in between bringing Bills fans down.

So you're not fascinated with conversations about duvets and coverlets and thread count? What the hell do you want from a sport radio show? Some people are so demanding!

I'm an out of towner so haven't listened to these guys in years and I must say I don't miss them. I did go on line for some post game stuff a while ago, but gave that up easily.

Love how people just sit around and wait until they get off topic to rip them apart. I'm no fan either but talking about sports for four hours without getting even the slightest bit off track is not easy, especially when they're on the air five days a week.

They were probably talking about this probably made-up story on Reddit that has made national news:

So a while ago I had decided to treat myself and go to Burger King. I hadn't had the greatest of days and I had a headache coming on. It was a very long line and I was at the end of it waiting patiently. When behind me comes this woman yapping on her cellphone with a little monster of a child. This kid was out of control, screaming, punching his mother throwing around a gameboy whenever something didn't go right in the game. The mother didn't seem to pay any attention to him and his continued yelling of 'I want a !@#$ing PIE'. After about 5 minutes of the line with these people behind me, I had gone from a headache to a full on migraine, but nothing was going to stop me from getting those burgers. I calmly turn and ask her nicely if she can please calm or quiet her child down. Immediately she gets up in my face telling me I can't tell her nothing about raising her child and to mind my own business. I nod and turn around, shes still yelling at the back of my head when the child cries out again how he wants a pie, the mother consoles him, calling him sweety and ensuring they'll get pies for lunch because she loves him so much. Things immediately go back to the they were and I wait another 5 minutes before getting to the front of the line. It turns out it was so slow because they had 1 trainee on cash during the lunch hour rush. All I can think of is how the people behind me ruined my splurge and gave me this headache. I then decide to ruin their day. I order every pie they have left in addition to my burgers. Turned out to be 23 pies in total, I take my order and walk towards the exit. Moments later I hear the woman yelling, what do you mean you don't have any pies left, who bought them all? I turn around and see the cashier pointing me out with the woman shooting me a death glare. I stand there and pull out a pie and slowly start eating eat as I stare back at her. She starts running towards me but can't get to me because of other lineups in the food court. I turn and slowly walk away.

A quick 5 minute non-sports bit is not bad. What is bad, is when they dedicate an hour or more to one of Shopp's food drafts or other nonsense. But when you consider how superficial their sports expertise is(even when it comes to the Bills and Sabres), it is no surprise that they wander off topic so frequently. For instance, they amount of time spent discussing Manuel last year without getting in-depth at all was amazing. It was nothing more than Manuel sucks, no he doesn't, give him more time, etc.... rinse and repeat.
