The broncos are making moves

Recommended Posts

Its still going to catch up to them, 2-3 years from now, salary cap hell...

Absolutely. I don't know all the terms of these contracts, but I can't see them all finishing their contracts. Looks like a lot of guaranteed money though.

They are allowed to make these moves because they have a HoF QB and their Super Bowl window closes in one, maybe two years.

John Elway is a gm or president mastermind. Dont know his exact stupid title. Broncos will always be a playoff team with or without Peyton.

Really? They went 8-8 with Tebow and made the playoffs on liek a 3 game losing streak because their division was junk. Then he got Peyton Manning. Let's relax on the mastermind talk once he has a QB that isn't one of the greatest ever.

Wow. $20 million guaranteed for a 32 year DE with LOTS of mileage on the tires. It is funny how often this fails - that is - build the "Dream team". latest DT's? :

Philadelphia, Washington for sure......maybe Tampa...can people think of others?

Denver will definitely be the favored AFC team to make the Bowl this year. But they are old , old, old. Injuries could destroy them and quickly.

We shall see.

Exactly. When you know you have a short window you make the moves necessary - even if it means mortgaging the future - to try and win now.

The Bills are pretty much the only team ever destroyed by "salary cap hell".

For most, it's a one year correction then on to new things.

The Bills were in a bad way with the cap when Butler left, but Donahoe cut too deep and eliminated the Bills identity as both winners and owners of a physical 3-4 defense. Cutting Ted Washington was THE LAST straw for the Bills identity. They haven't stopped the run since then.

Even so, the Bills were back buying free agents a year later and made a big splash two years later.

That is because problem was exaggerated from the start.

That period has had a lasting effect on Bills fans who still tremble at the idea of the Bills spending any money.

It's a combination of the Bills organization misleading fans and fans just being plain ignorant of the facts.

Kind of reminds you of the Philadelphia Eagles dream team from a few years back.

Not really. The QB position makes it all go. Or not. Elway is smart to spend every penny he can to maximize the Manning effect. Teams that have suspect QBs need to address that before bouncing contracts off the roof of the cap.

It's nice that they're beefing up their defense. But their offense flat out sucked against Seattle. They should be beefing up the OL.

Ryan Clady will be back. Makes you wonder how important LT is if one of hte best can miss the season and they can still set records will on the way to the SB.
