If you look at it objectively, Muhammad has a lot more in common with Hubbard than he does with the other prophets. Now, that could merely be a coincidence, but, a guy who spends most of his life as a pirate suddenly has an epiphany, and that epiphany, when you distill it down to what matters, says he can go conquer entire countries now, rather than just mucking around with one ship? Meanwhile, we have science ficton writer Hubbard, who has an epiphany that his science fiction, isn't, and that he can now found a religion based on it, and use that religion to enrich himself and have command over tons of people? Assasinating the "formative" leader of your movement, in favor of yourself, and spreading totalitarian socialism(because, we must first be socialist, before we can be Communist) for 70 years...based in part on "religion is the opiate of the masses". I wonder: how many of the masses that have been sacrificed on the alter of socialism...would otherwise be peaceful Christians, Buddhists, Taoists, Rastafarians, or even Muslims? Who is taking the opiate that is power, and who merely wanted to be left alone? Where is the real harm here, in terms of absolute value, all time, historically? Is it relgion, or socialism? The man was Abdul Haji, a 39-year-old real estate executive who rushed to the mall as the attack got underway. He could have harmed one of those poor innocent people being held hostage by terrorists determined to torture and murder them. Absolutely irresponsible that he would enter a mall with an assault pistol and attempt to heroically save people from misunderstood religious believers just trying to make a peaceful point. Gary M Posted October 1, 2013 Share Posted October 1, 2013 I remember reading stories how lots of young male Somalia immigrants living in the US returned or were recruited to go back to Somalia for militant Islamic callings. I think there was a sizeable enclave from the Minneapolis area that went back to Somalia for training and fell off the grid. Wonder if some of these guys are them. Also, such a low tech attack like this in the US would be devastating. I forgot what tom chance book it was, but the basic plot was about 8 terrorists sneak into the US and plan to attack random shopping malls across the country. Is it that complicated when the goal is to 1) blow up, or 2) create chaos with guns until a drone kills you. Not seeing a whole lot of need for extensive training. Yes, I imagine the OWS training, or the Environtologist training, isn't much different in terms of substance vs. ideology. I can't imagine why I think that. Perhaps it has somethign to do with them telling us that increasing productivity is good, while decreasing it is...also...good, at the same time.
