Injury Report - Messing with the Pats?

Anyone else think that all of the of changing reports about Spiller and Jackson are intentional so that the Pats don't know what to prepare for? It's not that uncommon.

If they are, it's a smart idea. Even if Spiller can't take a hit, even having him on the field in fear of what he could do make the defense change their approach.

Just a thought

The Pats have been playing these injury report games for years. Still are.

To be honest, I think they are too pompous to care. They believe they'll beat us, regardless.

But I think they're in for a rude awakening on Sunday. Call it a gut feeling.

Updated Injury Report on ESPN has Gronk now listed with Hip pointer.

Buffalo Bills: Both running backs Fred Jackson (knee) and C.J. Spiller (shoulder) are listed as questionable. Jackson is expected to play Sunday against the Patriots, according to head coach Chan Gailey. But Spiller is making progress, as well, and had limited participation the past two days. Cornerback and dangerous return specialist Leodis McKelvin (groin) is probable.

New England Patriots: Backup receiver Julian Edelman (hand), as expected, is out for Sunday's game. The same goes for tight end Aaron Hernandez (ankle). The Patriots had their usual long list of players listed questionable. The late addition was Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski, who suffered a hip injury and is now questionable. Offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back) and guard Logan Mankins (hip) are both questionable. Mankins didn’t practice this week, so he could be a concern.

Of course they believe they'll beat us. That's the mentality that all good teams have in any locker room in all sports. It's the culture change that Gailey brought here that had us so excited this off season. Good teams expect to win.

With that said, there is no coaching staff and team that works harder on their preparation than the Patriots. It's the reason they've been so successful for so long.

No, I think that Spiller and Jackson are returning faster than anyone thought they would. Maybe if the Bills were playing in SF this weekend, they'd have given them both another week off. But I doubt it's gamesmanship. Real gamesmanship would be if they say they're not going to play, and then they play.

Having them listed as questionable on Friday's injury report may be gamesmanship.

Jests maybe, sometimes. Against us. Against the Pats in the playoffs 2 years ago. Hand it to Sexy Rexy he can coach, and prepare a team.

In general, agree on both the prep and the attitude of "expecting to win". There's a line, though, between expecting to win because you have the talent and the coaching and you've put in the preparation, and expecting to win because that's what you're used to. We'll see.

YES. That is exactly what I thought. I think Chan is telling the Pats you have to prepare for both. Obviously our 2 backs have vastly different skill sets. I would not be at all surprised if Spiller is out for the game. With that said, I don't think it makes a huge difference but why not?

Side note: Nice to see that Marsha's right shoulder is hurting. Can't wait to see Marcell land on him!!!!!

I consider "questionable" to mean "he's going to play." Mankins is listed as questionable, even though he didn't practice this week, so if he plays, he won't be 100%, and if he doesn't, it will have been gamesmanship, but even in that case, you're preparing for a better player, but facing a lesser one.

Mankins did not travel with the Patriots to Buffalo. He is definitely out. Also, the league has sent out message to all teams to follow strict guidelines in listing injuries.

Mankins is definitely out, and a very good chance Vollmer is out. Even if Vollmer is playing with a bad back, he usually plays right tackle so Super Mario with his 295 lbs is going to bull rush him all day for pressure. I'm hoping we play press coverage, and blitz one lb with nickel, and take a page from the Ravens. They figured out how to beat Brady. Matchup was just showing the same strategy with Gailey last year. That was with less talent on the front four. You would think Marcel and Kyle can collapse that pocket faster than many teams. We absolutely need this to work with one of our RB's having a fantastic day keeping NE off the field.

18-1 baby!

Yeah, shame on me for thinking they could be using some strategy. Because teams don't have to adjust for either cj or Fred.

Stupid, STUPID Derek....

BB has been doing this nonsense for for years--listing Brady as injured for like 100 straight games. Was anyone preparing for his backup?

This is gamesmanship only if the opposing staff is fool enough to fall for it. Which is likely never.
