What were the Best Seats at a Event Personally

Carrying hatred hurts you more than the subject of your hate. You have to let it go. By the way, why do you hate Canada?

Because I work 4 hours from Buffalo and I used to live in Vegas and it seems no matter where you go, when you tell someone who knows nothing about Buffalo, that you live there, they have constant jokes about how your Canadian. Or the fact that my GF works at the border and they feel they have a sense of entitlement to enter the country without being questioned because they are coming over to "help stimulate the American economy" and then smirk about it like they are better than us. I guess I shouldn't hate anyone. But I get frustrated very often. Like now. I don't hate until someone gets me started and worked up on the subject. Now that I'm worked up I won't let it die. Here I go doing what unsaid I wouldn't and replied to this thread again.

I think that four hour commute is getting to you. Maybe you should try and get a job closer to home. You can't let peoples off hand comments get to you that much, just let the comments roll off your back and forget about it. See them for what they really are, meaningless comments.

Front row of the pit for Radiohead @ the santa barbara bowl in 2001 (amnesiac tour). Could literally reach out and touch Ed and Thom. Since Radiohead is my alltime favorite band, that was obviously an awesome night that I'll never forget.

Same spot for Janes Addiction that same year.

Sporting event-wise is probably the lower/floor student seating for UCLA basketball. Our teams were mostly disappointing during my time there, but I did get to see baron davis do some absolutely freakish things on the court.

Been to tons of lakers/clippers/kings games in a private box at staples. Not the greatest 'seats' but I sure did enjoy the unlimited heinekins and buffalo wings. :)

Late 80s in was living in Poughkeepsie and SRV came to play in the local civic center. The place was small to begin with, plus for some reason hardly anyone showed up. We had tickets in the 2nd row and moved to the first. At one point Stevie came to the edge of the stage, sat down with his legs hanging over and played from there. The small crowd of people up front just kind of politely gathered around him while he was playing and he was just shooting the **** with us between songs. Was the most amazing concert experience I ever had. SRV RIP

that's awesome. SRV was my first concert ever. My parents took me when I was 4 years old. I still remember sitting on my Dad's shoulders to catch a glimpse of Stevie.

Where did you see him? My only time seeing him live was at UB, Fallfest...opening up for Cindy Lauper of all things...IIRC Black Uhuru and Yelloman were also on the bill.

Lots of cool stories here...I worked for ticketmaster in Colorado for 5 years and got to see some great shows close up.

Bruce Hornsby in a piano bar, front row for the Foo Fighters, box seats for a bunch of Nuggets and Avalanche games. Plus I've seen the Tragically Hip in several small clubs out here and stood right against the stage.

My favorite though was seeing a Sabres game in the Aud back in the early 80's where it snowed so much there were only like 1500 people there. They let everyone move down and sit where ever they wanted. We spent 1 period directly behind the bench, one up against the glass in the corner and one at center ice about 15 rows up. They gave away free hot dogs and soda and lots of people spent the night at the stadium. We braved it and made it back to Grand Island in one piece. I'll never forget it.

Hah! That's the one. My Mom was a UB student at the time and we all rolled out to campus.

Don't know if this counts...

Late 1970's (1977 or 1978)

The Talking Heads at a nightclub in Hampton Beach, NH

The Cars at a nightclub in Boston.

Front row both times.

"Long ago and far away and so much better than it is today" -Meatloaf, Paradise by the Dashboard Lights

the commute is fine. I don't mind driving and i get so much time off it's unreal. I barely worked over 100 days last year (112 I think). I have no problems with that at all. It's the perceptions that anywhere you go outside Buffalo people joke calling you Canadian just because were so close. It does offend me. And I generally do not like most Canadians, not just because they are Canadian but because I just don't. I guess hate was a strong word before. It depends in my mood and how many people get me going I guess. Boston is still Boston to me. Just annoying and ugly through and through. Never been to the city. Wouldn't mind going but I realllllly dislike almost anyone from Boston. Thier accents, thier attitudes, thier desire to tear down anyone because they think they are better than them. Like I said, there's a few people and things I like from those places but for the most part I am not a fan.

Three shows come to mind:

1) Internship in San Diego Spring 1979. A friend of a friend had an extra ticket to this U.K. band called Dire Straits. At the Roxy in San Diego before the renovation. There were no more than 400 seats in the place at the time, and we were 12 rows back from stage, dead center. Knopfler blew everyone out of their seats.

2) Can't remember the name of the bar/club in Huntington Beach, but some college friends and I caught Stanley Clarke. Our table was next to the stage, and was at the same height. He started jamming with "School Daze" and charged off the stage and marched right down our table. It was a frenzied moment of grabbing beer bottles, I can assure you.

3) Now I am grown, and back in upstate NY. I have two beautiful daughters who are grown (and you will NEVER see pictures posted here, dirtbags), who grew up listening to The Barenaked Ladies with Dad. I scored tickets at Turning Stone Thanksgiving weekend 2011. We had second row seats, but stood at the stage the entire show. Just a wonderful, wonderful experience.

Best seats at a hockey game.

RBC arena in Raleigh NC. Sat ice level right behind the goal with my good friend,

Ed in KC. This was the season after the Hurricanes eliminated the Sabres from the

Stanley Cup playoffs. Lots of Sabres fans in attendance in NC that night.

Sabres won and scored 4 or 5 goals right in front of where we were sitting.

I knew hockey is a fast game, but being on ice level proved how fast the

play truly is.

Concert...third row center seats for Trans Siberian Orchestra in Chas. WV

Fourth row seats for Blue Man Group in Chas WV.

Comedy show. Second row for Gallagher and yes those damn

watermelon fragments can really fly

Fun to read others experiences, nothing like the sense of spectacle various events are be it sports, music, theater, speech. Back in the day, Toronto's Yorkville village circa mid 60'S coffee houses often were hosts to many impromptu jams, can recall being at places being just feet away, actually handing drinks over to musicians as they played. Bob Dylan, Hendrix, members of the Stones. Numerous ones. Funny how at the time it so normal and no big deal, looking back how cool it was. Got to be in room for 77 El Mocambo Stones, "Love You Live". None of these planned out , they just happenstance . It nice that even us not so rich or wealthy folk sometimes have opportunity and get place that is special. For some it very well be the norm, for us not so connected or privileged , special moments. Thinking on it, it does encourage me to remember to savor the experiences of each day, we just never do know....:)

Okay, I am getting old, so my memory can be a little hazy at times...I do know, for sure, that Stevie played on the bill, of UB Fall fest, right before Cyndi Lauper...I was just becoming aware of SRV, and couldn't believe he was opening for Lauper...

I went to a few of those things, so I am not sure if Black Uhuru and Yelloman were on that bill, or from another year...this would have been, likely 1983-1984.

EDIT: So, I tried to do a little on-line research... still not absolutely sure, but it looks like Lauper played the 1983 Fall Fest, so it was 1983... Black Uhuru, Yelloman, from what I can tell, was 1984...but this article is so poorly written...it could be the other way around....

http://www.ubspectrum.com/arts/music/legends-of-the-fall-1.2878854

"The fests only continued to grow. After singer Cyndi Lauper drew in 15,000 attendees in 1984’s Fall Fest, UB brought reggae band Black Uhuru in 1984, Chuck Berry and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in 1987, and singer Pat Benatar in 1988. The talent cost rose from $40,000 the previous year to $50,000 in order to bring in the popular ’80s singer."

The last home game before the NHL lockout, I had front row seats right on the blue line directly across from the Sabres tunnel from the locker room.

I'll never forget seeing them coming out of the tunnel wearing the blue and gold old logo throwbacks!

I have been reading more and more here about everyones experiences and can't help but to chime back in with other memorable and what could have been memorable experiences.

2nd row center to Blue Man Group in Las Vegas at the Venetian. Also saw them when they were at the Luxor but the seats weren't as good. Best show in Vegas btw. When I lived there I saw them 3 times and it's worth the ticket price everytime.

About 10 rows up from the BlackHole in Oakland against the Denver Broncos in week 15 or 16 the year they went to the SuperBowl. Reminds me very much of my endzone seats at the Ralph. Nobody sat the entire game. Was a really great experience. During that game the entire stadium started an MVP chant for Gannon. Another memory From that game is Ed McCaffrey (I think) getting injured and the fans cheering his injury. Not so nice, but thier hatred for a division rival was so deep they cheered injuries. Wow!!!

Was in the bleacher seats at Pac Bell Park (at the time) when Barry Bonds ties and then passed William Covey for the most home runs ever as a Giant.

Endzone during the Monday night game against Dallas and also this past year against the Pats are probably my 2 most favorite games of all time (that I've been to anyway).

Was in the stands in Canton, OH when Ralph and Bruce went into the HOF. Was there for the game as well. That place was LOADED with Bills fans that weekend. It felt like a home game in a High School Stadium.

Was at Radio City Music Hall in 09' when we draftedany memorable players. Unfortunately Maybin was 1st but I was also there for Wood, Levitre, Byrd. I see these players as the foundation of our return. Wooohooo!!!

Was at Wrestlemania 18 in the Skydome for (at the time) the largest wrestling crowd ever. The Rock came back as the Heel and Hogan came back as the "Real American". Was absolutely amazing to be part of that crowd.

On a good and bad note, was at Pilot Field (or whatever it was called at the time, will always be Pilot Field to me, Just like Rich Stadium) when the Sabres lost to the Stars in the famous Brett Hull "No Goal" game. Unfortunately for me, I made plans for a date earlier in the week and couldn't break the plans. I was offered that afternoon a front row ticket in one of the corners to that game from my boss. I turned it down and shouldn't have for that stupid date. I never talked to her again after that night.

For years I had access to front row in the corner end zone of the Jumbotron for about 50% of Bills games. Worked with a woman who had those seats that didn't like going after October was done. So I was given tickets for free usually. This was before I had seasons in the tunnel endzone. Was some of the best seats I've ever had.

The last new years I lived in Vegas a friend of mine had a party and we all took off about 11 to head for some overpass. I was like....WTF!!! What are we doing?!? When we got there I realized it. This particular overpass overlooked every Casino on the strip and at midnight, all at once, every Casino let out a 5 minute barage of a Grand Finale from thier roofs. Was the best fireworks display I've ever seen.

A family member of mine was married on the walls of a Castle in Budapest Hungry. Overlooking the Danube River, the Parliament Building, the Chain Link Bridge, and many other monuments. It might have been the most beautiful sights I've ever seen.

My GF and I went to New Years in NYC this past year. Was memorable and I always wanted to do it but I don't think I would EVER do it again. Absolutely insane there. Not sure I ever held my bladder that long. Lol.

These are just off the top of my head.

Thanks to the OP for reminding me of some of these great memories.
