The picks that got away

Buddy mentioned there were players we were targeting that we're picked right before us. Is there anyone with inside knowledge on whom they might be? I am guessing they happened in the first two rounds, hence our mini jump in the 3rd. Any insight is appreciated.

Barron was a guy I am pretty confident they wanted at 10

Had I made a 7 round mock for Buffalo right before this draft, I don't think I would have been optimistic enough to have had them getting all the players they got. I mean, usually with a Bills draft I'm left scratching my head with just about every pick, and its only afterward that I come to like many of the players they drafted.

But, with this draft, I really am amazed at how well the slotting lined up for us. I only question the WR pick, and the kicker pick. Otherwise, I like every pick made, and I just can't say how exciting it is that we ended up getting so many players that look like they might be gems, or later round picks that end up starters down the road. In a year or two, our depth will be very nice because of this draft, I think. Even now it is exciting.

I am disappointed we didn't get a QB. But, I'm not going to complain one bit about the overall draft. And, I'd have to say that the Bills must think Easley is the answer at WR#2 or they would have gone harder after one of the bigger speed WR's in the first 4 rounds.

Brooks, Sanders, Bradham, and Carder, all look like mid round selections that will end up starting, or contributing in sub-packages, regularly. Brooks is very exciting, I think, as is Bradham - who I am very happy isn't a smaller LB (that is one thing I was a little worried about - I like the bigger LB's, but he's got the speed to still cover). And, getting Glenn in the second, when no one would have batted an eye had we selected him with our first pick, was just so lucky for us. Our defense looks set! And our Offensive line looks finally set, too! Next year's draft we can focus on QB and maybe the final pieces, like upgrading LB's and WR's/TE's.

Great job Nix and Co.!

Exactly if they took Sanders or Carder in the 3rd no one would have thought either were a reach.

Great draft.

I was feeling pretty word after that Graham pick, it looked like a classic Bills reach but Day 3 was strong.

Aaron Corp as a camp arm is interesting. He was a 3rd string USC QB and has prototypical size.

He'll have a full chance to compete for the 3rd string QB spot.

Cousins has great size, his decision making is questionable, and it's hard to teach that. I'm ok that we missed him.

I thought they wanted Wilson and thought he would drop to the 4th, I would have taken him with one of the 4ths. I think they did want a bigger WR and would have gone for one but I kind of like the guy they got. I love the draft even the KO specialist makes sense to me. I like what I have read about Corp, we still have a little space am interested in the rest of the UDFAs and if we make anymore moves in the FA market. This offseason, I think we built better than since the late 80s, I am excited. Go Bills!

Aside from Graham who we already know is a fumbling machine, all seems well.

Players rarely fumble when they're streaking down the sideline, behind the defense. That's where I hope we'll see Graham earning his keep. He's not a slot receiver.

Yeah, but he said "right before us." Cousins was picked like two before the Bills picked.

So that's the Nigel Bradham slot... we'll how lucky or unlucky we got by the 'skins picking Cousins, hmmm. I think I like our LB

My vote for a pick that we wanted but was taken before us is WR Rueben Randle at pick 63. It may explain why Chixly unexpectedly traded to drop three spots in the 3rd.

After the first round, I was advocating we get another early 2nd round pick so that we could get OT and WR given what was on the board. They waited and got Glenn, which is the guy I wanted for OT as well. Then as the round progressed, the cost of moving up our 3rd got cheaper and cheaper. If they were willing to move up a few slots for a 7th, I'm a bit surprised they could get to the back 5 of the 2nd round with our 6th to get Randle. Would have been a great move. Don't know anything about Graham, but we'll see how it works out...

If we had gotten both Glenn and Randle and only list a 6th round pick, the board would have been hooting it up!

Would like to think it was Russell Wilson or a QB somewhere. How necessary was the TJ Graham pick? A QB here would have been less of a reach. No matter how good the team is, an injury to Fitz early in the season with Thigpen filling in will put their jobs in jeopardy as it should. The draft seemed good but time will tell. I think Buddy sleeps another year at QB. We are still extremely vulnerable and primed for another non playoff year if Fitz is injured. When Buddy was with San Diego they drafted Rivers when they had Brees??? Does he feel that Fitz does not need the competition that they felt Brees did?
