Actually this thread WAS revived for no reason other to pile on Stevie.

THEN the story broke in the media… so it's both.

I dont think its much of a story to "break". They were each going to get some cash, and Freddie got all of it. Ok, so what?

When I was 11 I had to go to 3 different signings at different Tops before Thurman finally showed. I didnt have an internet to cry to at the time.

I get your point about the internet… although it can also be said that in this day and age, you're stupid as an athlete if you don't understand that public behavior is much more scrutinized than in the days of Thurman. The bar has been raised (as the money has gone up).

And I have not been a Stevie persecuter since the celebration incident but if you want to argue whether it's a big deal, I'll say (don't know if you read the article) that the auto dealership hired a limo to drive him and his family. He refused. Then he had his agent call to say he wasn't coming. His agent then was contentious on the phone and said something stupid like "you expect him to leave a Range Rover parked on a side street in Buffalo?" as if Stevie couldn't simply call to have it safely towed… or his agent who was doing the dirty work anyways.

The topper is that Stevie never called to apologize. No phone call, nothing. No makeup call.

So the truth is (and again I like the kid) Stevie could not have botched this any worse than he did.

And NOW you know why Stevie does what he does. Someone said to me he's trying to be another Ocho Cinco or T.O. and I think they are 100% right! It's not enough to be just a football player...especially one in the media black hole known as Buffalo. If you want become a star, someone who does TV, movies, commercials, etc, you have to draw attention to yourself. This is manna from heaven for SJ13.

So, making a fool out of yourself on national TV and inviting nationwide derision and mockery is great for the Stevie Johnson "brand"? You are suggesting that he's lining up new endorsement deals as we speak?

Any publicity is good publicity, maybe the exception is getting busted for child porn. But there has been a wide range of reactions to his stunt, not all negative. LeBron imitating him is huge. Look for SJ13 on Dancing with teh Stars next, lol.

I'll take the kid that show boats from time to time and gets in trouble for it by the league over the guy that shows up on the police blotter from time to time.

So he didnt sign autographs. So the owner of the owner of the car lot didn't get two NFL players to pimp their business. Stevie didn't get paid for it. Fred did. This has gone way over the top.

I just want a guy who can catch the ball when it hits him in the hands in full stride. Is that too much to ask? The rest of it I don't care about.

So he balks on contracts? No biggee. He's done it to the Bills too. I thought he signed to the current contract to catch footballs ...

Last time I had a flat I called service and a tow truck was there in 30 minutes and I live in the country. He is a baby and still needs attention. Unfortunately he is getting it. Stop the interviews and black ball the guy. He will cry for awhile and than go to sleep. Time to move on. People like him never grow up. Sorry.

It's the opposite. I saw Count Dorkula started a new thread with the article on how much money Stevie lost by not going to the dealership. Remembering this thread, I merged the two.
