Now here's an idea to keep the Bills in Buffalo

Recommended Posts

Elton John raises money for favorite team.

What we need is celebrities holding charity performances for the Bills. How much money can the Goo Goo Dolls make for us at RWS? Or how about an annual telethon hosted by Nick Bakay and the guy who played Frank Lapidus on Lost? "I hear the Mayflower vans pulling up, people! Give lots and give often!"

We don't need celebrity charities. We need a billionaire ownership group that wants to keep the Bills in Buffalo. Other then that, it should be no problem, right? Is there a "Robert Kraft" of the Buffalo or Western New York area quietly living amoung us, possibly a season ticket or suite holder at the Ralph for years and years, ready to swoop in the week Ralph dies and outbid the evil groups from Los Angeles, San Antonio, Las Vegas or the dreaded Toronto areas?

Long live Ralph Wilson, because we can joke about Elton John singing for his favorite sports teams and Rocketship 7 reunions all we want. But personally I would rather see Jim Kelly introduce us to these wealthy friends of his and have something more then jokes to lean on when thinking about what will really happen to our beloved Bills when our 93 year old owner passes away.

Offhand outside of Western NY's heyday of years passed (Eastman Kodak etc) Rochester has had Actor: Phillip Seymour Hoffman and John Lithgow (from an earlier post Viggo Mortenson) Model: Tyson Bedford. Western NY is also a hotbed for MMA athletes as Jon Jones, Matt Hamill, Frank Trigg-I think Josh Koschek. Carmen Basilio the "Onion Farmer" also was from Western NY. Lest we forget the awesome Bills supporter in Tim Russert---GO BILLS!!!!

I doubt there's any anonymous billionaires in Buffalo... unless some hermit-type miser has been toiling away on Oakland Place for several decades or something...

:wallbash:

That is the funniest post I have seen on this board in 2010.

Lets support this type of wit and elect Chalkie, Funnies Post.

Seriously laughed out loud.

You're off on a couple, Koscheck was from PA, Hamill is from OH. But you forgot one key one in the world of MMA- Rashad Evans from Niagara Falls(granted he lives in Michigan now).

How about WNY seceding from NY state?

Make a state without cronyism politics and resulting taxes.

With less cronies and taxes.. Bflo economy would boom, and the Bills would thrive.

Crazy talk on my part, I know.

Go BILLS.

I love you Bflo.. give me an economic reason to come back home.

Stay where you are or move further south or west. :wallbash:

I hope not. Trump would move the Bills out of Buffalo so fast it would leave skid marks.

no. He'd keep them in place until he could build a stadium and casino with hotel in the ny side of the falls

True on Hamill but he wrestled at U of R and trains and resides in a smaller town outside of Rochester. I thought Koschek was in upstate for awhile in Highschool-not sure though

Just checked Koscheks bio, he taught wrestling at a Catholic School Erie Prep and then spent 1 1/2 years as the assistant wrestling coach at U of Buffalo

where would he take them?

Pretty much anywhere would be an improvement from his perspective, but L.A. is the obvious answer.

And Trump's only favorite team is: Trump. Look what he did to his beloved Jersey Generals; he sunk the whole ship in an attempt to force the NFL's hand (which is probably the main reason he'd never be a candidate for ownership).

He is not a man to be trusted with your heart and soul.

Trump is not someone you'd want anywhere near the Bills. To be honest, I wonder how welcome he would be as an NFL owner considering his history in pro football?

I agree that he may not be welcomed back into the NFL- no arguements there. I just think he is Jim Kelly's Ace in the Sleeve. Trump is a Bill fan. He and Kelly go way back. Now consider the the allure of a new stadium and casino located in The NY side of the Falls. . . . All irresistable things to the Donald.

I'll welcome anyone- regardless of their history- as a Bills owner as long as they promise to keep the team in Western NY

Seriously. People think Ralph is only keeping the Bills because they are making him super rich. I'm sure Trump won't be concerned about making money and would just keep the team here because of the history. ;)

Jeremy Jacobs and Bob Rich have some loot. I wonder if they could put together a package.

My assumption is the owners have long memories and would never allow Trump to buy a franchise given his past lawsuit against the NFL.

Jacobs and Golisano seem like the only ones that could lead a team. They both have buffalo ties and enough backing.

Who says that it needs to be a buffalo business person. What would be wrong with having a Canadian owner? Toronto most likely has more billionaires than Buffalo. Just because someone is from Canada doesn't mean that they will want to move it there. The New Jersey Nets have a Russian owner he doesn't want to move it there.
