Nfl sunday ticket; Who's signing up?

Recommended Posts

And no, many companies won't reduce their price if you just ask. Best Buy won't reduce their price if you just ask.

The minute DTV has competition, I'll be gone. It may never happen, but if it does, I'll be gone in a second. The only cable/sat company people seem to like is FIOS. I have them for internet and it's fantastic. I just can't wait for the day that Sunday Ticket is spread among all outlets.

Blah, blah, blah. Hot air. Get some balls, take a stand, and leave DirecTV now! Otherwise you just look like a big kitty for whining like a B word but you end up taking it hard.

Oh and dumbass, I get price reductions all the time at Best Buy, so try again. That list of companies you don't like is growing :worthy:

I remember at one point the Sunday Ticket was like $159, which averaged out to about $10/game. Inflation and greed. Greedy bastages...

That is my thinking. Screw em it is cheaper to go to a sports bar, order up whatever I want and sit back and enjoy it with a few friends than renew that ****.

$179 divided by 17 weeks is about $10/week.

Now granted you have to buy DirecTV so the cost also includes the difference in cost between DirecTV and what you paying for your TV service (cable?, Dishnetwork?) right now but bottom line, at the $179 price, The NFL Sunday Ticket is a BARGAIN.

Then you can buy a 6 pack for just a bit more than a beer costs at the sports bar costs…food is cheaper at home…

There's no math in this universe that would show that going to the sports bar is cheaper than buying The NFL Sunday Ticket.

Again, The NFL Sunday Ticket is a bargain.

We were about to cancel direct TV and go to a package from Time Warner or Frontier, before we did we called direct TV and complained...They gave us the NFL package for more then 1/2 off. :worthy:

BTW, it comes with the super fan pack included now so you can re-watch every game in 1/2 hour each on Mon-Tues.

I've re-signed. What are my options? In the Nother Va. area -- just outside of Washington DC I can watch the team with the racist nickname or the Ravens. I'd rather watch the Bills, no matter how much they make me swear. And, quite frankly, spread out over a 16-game season, the price tag isn't outrageous. Sure I wish it were $159, or whatever it was when I first got it, but hey, I wish gasoline was 99 cents a gallon, too.

It was available in 1994 (first year) for $89.00 (big dish....before DTV and DishNetwork ran the Big dish away). It was located on satellite G5 where the TVN Theaters (multi channels - pay for view movie/events) were. After the second game (began at 4:00 PM) was complete, it would switch back to the TVN Theaters for their pay for view showings.

Ah, the good old days of C-band........virtually no rain fade either but watch out for when the Sun, Satellite, and dish lined up. There would be 5-10 minutes of deteriorating signal, none, then the gradual return. Happened for a couple weeks in October around 3:00 PM or so (when I lived in Dayton, OH).

The only problem with this is that there are many airlines. Many hotels. And many car companies. PERIOD. If I don't like one, I can go to another one.

DTV, again, has a monopoly on Sunday Ticket. End of story. No other options. If I think Marriott is unethical, I don't have to go there. If I don't like Chevy's practices, I don't have to buy one. If I don't think Southwest is honest with me, I don't need them.

Unlike Hurly Burly, the moron that can't comprehend that concept, DTV has you by the nutsack.

And no, many companies won't reduce their price if you just ask. Best Buy won't reduce their price if you just ask. Ruth's Chris won't just reduce their price because you ask. Target won't sell you a rug cheaper because you just ask.

Maybe DTV will do it. Well, good for them. They are now lumped in with the likes of car salesman, furniture stores, and pawn shops. That's a great rep to have. And believe me, many people feel this way about all cable and satellite companies. DTV is just now stepping to the front of the line with this crap.

DTV does not have a monopoly. You have plenty of options to experience the NFL:

1) Fly to Buffalo (or whatever city they're in), buy a ticket, and watch the game live

2) Go to a sports bar and watch the game there

3) Find the radio feed of your favorite team and listen (often times for free I believe)

4) Watch the many free games that CBS, FOX, NFLN, and ESPN broadcast

It's hardly a monopoly. Lots of people watch the NFL and don't have Sunday Ticket.

And as for your, "many companies won't reduce their price if you just ask" comment - I can tell you've never asked, because I've received discounts at Best Buy just for asking. You have to ask a manager, not a regular guy, but it happens. No, you're not going to get a discount on a candy bar most likely, but if you're buying something bigger (like a television), you can generally get at least 10% off. And what do you think price matching is all about?

I fought with these fags for an hour today. They told me that because I had agreed to and was already receiving -$10 off per month (a conversation that I had with them a month ago) that there was NO WAY that they could reverse this and give me -$20 per month. They seemed to agree that had I originally asked for the $20 off per month I probably would have gotten it. So now I am stuck (at least this year) paying $240 for the ticket instead of $179.

I went up the chain of command at least three levels and one guy was foaming at the mouth about to cuss me because I was asking for his full name and for the names of all his superiors. I stayed reasonably calm. I did not let it all go until I finally talked to one halfway nice lady who repeated the same "our hands are tied" bull ****, I told her it was not worth my time but that the guy with the smartass tone who went haywire should be terminated or at least reprimanded. Pretty amusing/weird experience all in all.
