BuffaloBaumer Posted May 19, 2010 Share Posted May 19, 2010 I have absolutely ZERO problem winning one game (I'll take the opener because that day should never be tainted) this year if it looks like the team can hang with most of their competition (especially the AFC East). Re-building is fine and I would much rather prefer getting a top level QB in next year's draft than missing out going 5-11. Ideally, I would love to see the line get in sync for 2011 when the real future of this team is waiting for us in that draft. Hopefully QB will be the only glaring need once this year is over. So this would be nice because it would we would break out of that 7-9 shell (and the 6-10), and we get a franchise QB. I feel the next draft is when we make a big attempt to get a franchise QB, even if we have to trade up in the first round like the jets did with sanchez. It is too early to tell, but there seems to be a lot of QB talent in the next draft. And I also have to admit, I have this fear that LT is going to be a problem for us for awhile. I'm looking at the seaon this way: If we suck and win 1-4 games then we'll get a chance at our overdue stud QB. But if Chan and Company work their magic and we do well, then all is good. Here is a list of the QBs taking in the top 10 of round one since 1980. If you're a NFL GM taking over a rebuilding project, you can't be afraid to fail based on previous bust picks. Bill Polian watched every throw Peyton Manning took at Tennessee and made sure of himself. People make it seem like he was lucky, but I disagree. That said, there are three types of teams in the NFL: title contenders, the average-mediocre teams, and the rebuilding ones. Buffalo fits squarely into the third category and will probably be about 3-13 when the season is done. People forget that SD took a good QB in 2001, even though his best years were/are in NO.
