Did Mike Leach really find it necessary

a shed...lol. do your research instead of listening to the media's bs.

James is a wuss and should be cut. Texas Tech just ruined their football program because of a whiny kid. No doubt about it.

I saw the video, it definitely looks like a shed...You would have a hard time parking ralph's ford taurus in that "garage", no sure you could open your door if you got in.

When those players from UT got kicked off the Vols team for robbing a store on campus Lane Kiffen didn't call them criminals. When Urban Meyer kicked Torre Davis off of the Gators this year he didn't call him stupid. You don't call a 20 year old out on national TV, especially the way he did it. I had no problem with his criticism of Craig James though. We all know parents like that, whether you coach or your kid has a teammate who's parent thinks their child is the only out there.

Mike Leach will NOT get a high profile job anytime soon and he's to much of an ego-maniac to be an OC after owning his program for 10 years. It's back to square one, mark my words.

But that is what James and his father have been doing all week to him on ESPN and have now cost him his job.

Wow. The whiners in this thread need to check that out. James was put in a garage and the media room where they do the coaches PC after the game. With a medical trainer outside. Doctor approved the treatment. No closets. I thought the attacks on Leach were a load of BS before, now it's almost unbelievable. No wonder Leach is so pissed.

Craig James + Adam James = little league dad and spoiled brat

Good job Pony. Way to torpedo Texas Tech football. Just because they are in Texas doesn't mean they won't go in the toilet now that Leach is gone. Good news for schools like TCU, Baylor, Rice and Craig James alma mater SMU(which was in the basement for 20 years after guys like James and Eric Dickerson got busted for taking that booster money). Maybe the little pony can transfer there.

I can't help but think Mike Leach is right. I think this about playing time and Craig James trying to force Leach to play his son.

Craig James needs to leave his son alone and let his son deal with his own problems. Leach says Craig James called on the phone more times than all the other players parents combined.

"player development?" how are you helping player development by putting one disrespectful athlete in a position of power by treating him even more disrespectfully? now instead of alienating 1 kid, you have alienated him and all his buddies on the team! how does that help player development? why do you think all those TCU kids were quoted as saying they supported the decision and they feel better now that leach is gone?

either this guy is not the leader he is cut out to be, or he has sold his soul to the devil by recruiting a whole bunch of low-character prima donnas who don't undertand his own peculiar brand of "tough love." either way he's proven that he's not the right guy to be the face of that program.

Ahem. Is it important that Leach be loved? Ten bowls in ten years. Great graduation rate. That's called success. You think he should be thrown under the bus because this player had to sit in the media room for three hours during practice? You want a coach everyone can love in the lockerroom? Dick Jauron is available.

Face it Jester, you are wrong here. Your approach to coaching does not apply to highly competitive, high stakes college football and may work with something like the cross country team, but football is a completely different sport and you can't even assume you are recruiting the same kind of kids. These coaches are under intense scrutiny, they can't be playing patty cake or cold shoulder like a collegiate version of Dick Jauron. The argument that you are empowering a player by individually disciplining them is a stretch to say the least and certainly not applicable to the game of football.

Yeah, and the media room, where the coach holds his PC, is an "electrical closet". If it's not clear yet, the James' family hyperbolized a bit when they laid out their complaints.

High stakes? intense scrutiny? you just gave me two more reasons why he was stupid for losing his mind and trying to embarrass a kid he had a strained relationship with. That reaction, just like his public behavior in the wake of all this, are legitimate reasons to question his judgment.

Being the adult when you are dealing with a brat backfires a lot less often than losing your mind...

:bag:

Seriously, though - I still don't understand what Leach was trying to accomplish by putting James in a shed/closet/whatever.

He was trying to teach him that when you have power over another individual, you can humiliate them at your leisure if they displease you... an important life lesson.

Or he was trying to teach him that individuals don't belong on a team.

Or that it doesn't matter who your daddy is, you might just suck.

Craig James deserves a page on the dikapedia for sure.

First he was one of the guilty parties that wrecked SMU football for 2 decades (wreckage including the innocent guys on his own team) at SMU.

Now, he and his kitty son Adam have to go and ruin it for the rest of his teammates WHO ELECTED TO GO PLAY FOR COACH LEACH because they WANT TO PLAY ON A WINNER that goes to bowl games every year.

Craig James should be fired from ESPN immediately he is such an ass.

And as for Adam, I sincerely hope future employers will give this guys background a real look before hiring him. He is a characterless mommas boy whose momma happens to be his poppa.

Next, Craig, how can you destroy the longhorns or aggies?

Stay away from the James's!!!!

Yeah, once the facts are presented under oath, in a court of law, I fully expect former Patriettes* panty-waist Craig James to lose his job for using his ESPN bully-pulpit to propagate falsehoods in an effort to further his agenda. He will likely end up a a named party to Leach's lawsuit, and may also wind up owing Leach some money. It would be hysterically appropriate if he were to be replaced on ESPN by...

Mike Leach

I saw that. Sh*t like that will cost him a job at major university. There is no AD or President who wants to deal with an idiot like that. He's going to have to start all over again at a very low level D1 school (he'll probably be successful). He needs to be put in a shed because his attitude is worse than James or any other cocky player. Mike Leach, Rice is on the phone....OOPS!!!!

Actually, this is a circus put on by the Evil Socialist Propaganda Network. In reality, studies show that putting a player with a concussion in a cold dark place can be beneficial. I heard that James told Tech he would give them better publicity if his son played. Leach did nothing wrong, but is being demonized by ESPN and it is workiong because people watching don't understand what happened

By the way, any of you know where Craig James played football and what happened there?

Speaking of ESPN and the Leach interview: that piece with Reece Davis was obviously heavily edited. Just saying.

Yes ESPN doing a fine job of fair and unbiased reporting. LOL.

Craig James is Despicable. Great White Hope my ass; he is the only white guy that accepted money on the infamous Pony Express; he is an unabashed liar and has been since at least 1980. His son is the worst kind of kitty. Wow, I have to do a couple of hours on the bike while my teammates have to PRACTICE. I better tell daddy; after all, I'm not even getting PAID for this like my dad did, back when he was in college.

Adam James is Despicable Jr.

Coach Leach seems to be the only straight shooter in the whole mess.

The elder James should be fired from ESPN just for the fact that he is a f@#$ing a-hole and taking this situation into a media circus that wasn't necessary. Everyone can understand that he is trying to protect his son but the fact that this is college football and not every kid gets equal amounts of playing time or a participant medal at this level.

James is a POS and the fact that he handcuffed the university with this story at a time when they basically had little choice but to relieve Leach from the Head Coach position, shows what a true low life p@#$y James is.

We know the facts aren't all out completely with this but with everything on the table so far, Leach did nothing more than try to protect a whiney spoiled brat from further injury. Sure, he might not have coddled him like the little baby should have been coddled, but he is also trying to get 80+ other young men ready for a bowl game.

I don't hope but wouldn't be surprised that the James' family goes down in the Red Raider history as the ones that destroyed their run near the top of the college football kingdom.

That seems to be already fait accompli. I don't see whoever they bring in having 11-1 seasons at Texas Tech nohow. And as for SMU, they have played in 0 bowls since the death penalty season. James was an outgoing senior and one of only 3 that was still getting booster money, on the whole team. Did it, wouldn't own up to it until tit was crystal clear he did it, and left others holding the bag.

History repeats.

Plus, he played for the Patriots!

I like OJ more than him (after all, 2003 yards rushing is a heck of a lot!).

Will we ever know?

What we do know is that Leach never specified either the equipment garage - a rather large outbuilding adjacent the practice field, with 20' ceiling, an ice machine, running water, ventilation fan, and fully-opened door (with broken lock) where, at various times, Adam James was found talking on his cell phone and sipping drinks while sitting or napping on the floor, or the 'electrical closet' - a rather vacuous media room where visiting coaches hold their press conferences.

All Leach did, since he was busy trying to get his team ready for it's 11th consecutive bowl-game appearance, was ask the trainers take young Adam to a location out of the direct sunlight. The three licensed physical trainers that were charged with Adam James supervision chose both locations.
