  1. Fitzpatrick's surprising play has benefitted us to the point where we can put off drafting a QB. Luck may not declare and if he does, will not be there when we draft and trading up is not an option. There's no sense reaching for a QB, especially when we've got other holes to fill. A lot depends on how free agency shakes out for us. I don't anticipate any big-name signings. I hope we re-sign Posluszny, he's solid. I would like to retain Whitner as well but he's not worth the money he's seeking. The Bills ranked 25th in total offense and 24th in total defense, so help is needed everywhere. Most telling however, is that we ranked dead last in rush defense. This has to stop. I think we should go heavy on the defense. I like DE Da'Quan Bowers and OLB Von Miller. We need to bolster the front seven, big time. Either of these two guys could help us out tremendously and immediately. These guys are NFL-ready. I really like Miller as that 3-4 edge rusher we've been sorely lacking. The Butkus winner had 10 sacks this year and 17 last year. That's consistent, big time production. And at 6'3 and 243lbs with 4.6 speed, he's a gamer. Bowers was the top recrit coming out of high school and is a big boy who has been simply unblockable this year. He could easily line up at end and be our new Bruce Smith. The front seven should be this team's priority. Everything else will fall into place after that. We need pass rushers and run stuffers. If we can do that, we'll see more turnovers, more sacks and more 3-and-outs for opposing teams. The defense gets off the field and the offense gets on it and puts up points. That's how you win football games, IMO. Thoughts?
  2. If Fred Jackson was a Patriot, he'd be the first player in NFL history to have 2,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in the same season.
  3. Makes sense, although I thought he'd last one more year. Both he and Shanahan are to blame for the current state of the Broncos. But McDaniels got rid of both a franchise QB and WR which really set the team back because he whiffed on the draft picks he got in return. Set the team back 5+ years. The spygate nonesense certainly didn't helpt. It all adds up. He's young and probably wasn't ready to be a HC. He'll bounce back, land on his feet, OC for a few years, then get a 2nd chance somewhere else as HC.
  4. Whitner's stats are inflated. Stats DO NOT tell th ewhole story. Many of his tackles are on running backs after they've gained ten yards because our porous run defense is the league's worst. The front seven gets gashed and the safties are making the tackle.
  5. Buffalo Rumblings ran a segment that he needed a nickname. They've dubbed him "Meatball".
  6. They have both for sale. Here ya go: http://www.shopthebills.com/jerseys/home.aspx
  7. I like it. I'm high on Bowers and I completely agree that this OL class stinks so I fully expect Nix to select a lineman early. Good mock.
  8. I disagree with points 1, 3, 4, 8, and 12. 1. Whitner's stats were a little inflated as he was making tackles downfield after big gains. He's made a few big hits but these have not forced any turnovers nor separated any players from the ball. He's having his best season, playing for a contract, but he's still just a "good" player, not great. 3. I completely disagree. Whil Williams is having a Pro Bowl year and Carrington has got on the field and done some positive things, this team still gets gashed on the ground. The front seven still needs an influx of talent. We need pass rushers. This team still needs an edge rusher and a MLB. Not that the offense doesn't need help, but we need to focus on the front seven come the draft, IMO. We need LBs! 4. While Johnson does need to improve his concentration to mitigate drops, I wouldn't go so far as to say he can't be a great receiver, as we all know T.O. has forged a HoF career with monster stats despite having big time drop problems his whole career. 8. McKelvin still scares me on returns. While he is awesome on kick returns and better than Spiller, he has major ball security issues and every time a defender close in to tackle him, I cringe and tense up, waiting for the ball to come loose. This is a major concern for me and it's an issue that continues to plague him. 12. DC Edwards is making the most of what he has but the middle of the field is constantly open and frequently targeted by opposing offenses for large gains. This has plagued the D all year and frustrates me to no end. Their inability to cover the TE is also a major problem. Sometimes it seems to me like there's only 10 defenders on the field. And they need to apply pressure to the QB consistently. Too often do opposing QBs have all day to throw. Personnel is certianly lacking, and he can't be faulted for that, but I'm still not sold on Edwards yet.
  9. He's got balls. I like his play calls and he's not afraid to take chances. I would however, like to see him run the ball more frequently.
  10. Good thing he sprained his ankle. We'll be seeing more Gerhart then Peterson.
  11. I was listening to the pre-game show on the way to the game and they explained last week's poor performance by Lindell. He was battling the flu and wasn't feeling well. Also, the team checked some of the balls after the game and found they were over-inflated. Some by as much as 8 lbs. Kickers are specific about the balls they kick with, often pushing and squeezing them, and apparently the issue was brought up to the officials. Sounds reasonable to me. He's still a good kicker and has a good handle on the Buffalo weather and how it affects his kicks.
  12. Always. My tailgate team will be six strong tomorrow. Beer and burgers. Yum!
  13. Whitner is good but not great. Nothing spectacular, but solid. I hope they don't overpay him like they did Kelsay.
  14. The Bills have played better as of late and have been competetive in games. Steelers are elite however and will win and cover the spread. But here's hoping for an upset.
  15. I'd like to volunteer to help out. Love the Bills, love the board.
  16. Can you imagine what you defense would look like if we drafted Ngata instead of Whitner? Him and Williams clogging up the middle. DE's getting sacks with ease, no one able to run on us. If only...
  17. He's been a good player for us but he's struggled to stay healthy in recent years. Might be time to cut him loose. Should've kept Greer instead. I'm sure they'll elavuate him careful in the offseason.
  18. It's a two back league. Jackson is a beast but he's also 29. While he does have low mileage, he won't be around forever. Spiller is dynamic and offers you more options in both the pass and return games. We're not gonna draft a guy ninth overall then trade him after one season. A they knew Jackson was good. We all do. And we wouldn't get anywhere close to fair value. Dumb post. No offence.
  19. I prefer the 4-3. But they need to pick one and stick with it. This is a 3-4 team now and they have drafyed personnel for it and will continue to do so.
