The Bills appear completely and absolutely torn between which defense they want to play. There's evidence that points to each the 3-4 and the 4-3. 1. Edwards is a 3-4 guy. Wannstedt a 4-3. 2. Williams is a 3-4 DT. Merriman is a 3-4 OLB. 3. The Bills began drafting 3-4 guys. The Bills have more 4-3 guys on the roster. It's totally a mixed bag right now and until Gailey or Nix goes on record and says flat out we're one defense or another, we'll be guessing. It's hard to say what will happen. But we may continue to run some hybrid looks out of both base defenses. But you have to wonder, why did they bring in Wannstedt? He's a very experienced coach, 4-3 guy through and through, and he was brought here as an assistant head coach. What does that mean? Is it just a title, a form of respect? Or are they positioning him to take over the defense? Who the hell knows. I'm confused and it's bothering me because I really wanna know. Someone needs to tell us what Wannstedt's job is, what our defense is. It needs to be defined.

There is no one playing better football right now than Aaron Rodgers. Packers to win it all.

Glad he joined. This is a great addition. He brings a wealth of experience and only makes us better. This is a step in the right direction and makes me feel that we're building something here.

You are not crazy. I want him too. He'd be a great RT and could really anchor and complete our O Line. He's got an attitude problem though. And I don't see him leaving Baltimore. Ozzie will convince him to shut up and take a RT's salary.

At this point I'm pulling for the Packers to win it all. For the AFC matchup, easily the Steelers. The Jets are a hated divisional rival of ours. I hate them with a passion. And I need Rex Ryan to STFU.

There's no team insane and dumb enough to trade up for Gabbert. He's not worth it. Not even by a long shot.

Cool thread idea. I must disagree with your choice. Baltimore's success has, to me, been more about Newsome's incredible ability as a GM. But Harbaugh is still a great coach. It's a tough choice to make. Sean Payton has done some great things, so has Mike Smith. You also have to like the long tenures of success that Andy Reid and Jeff Fisher have had. But at the end of the day, my vote goes to Steeler head coach Mike Tomlin. He's got a ring.

Mallett has poor footwork and he's a Bledsoe clone. Gabbert is a product of a gimmick spread offense. Just like his undrafted predecessor, Chase Daniel, he will suck. It's no different then Graham Harrell at Texas Tech or Colt Brennan at Hawaii. The only polished, pro-syle coached, true franchise QB in this year's draft, decided not to declare and returned to school.

I'm glad he's being positive but talk is cheap. He's got a lot to prove. I hope he heals up good and re-discovers his talent. A lot of players lose their explosiveness due to Achilles injuries. Let's hope it's not the case with Lights Out and that his injury isn't too serious. He's got an entire offseason to get healthy and train. If he can regain his old form, we're in for an exciting year. I can just see it now, as he turfs Brady.

Carolina has so many holes, they could go any direction. Since Andrew Luck is out of the picture, (for now anyway), they may decide to give Clausen another shot, add Green, and see what happens. If Clausen busts, then they can go QB the following year, knowing full well they tried with Clausen and have a stud WR with a year of experience under his belt, ready to play with their new QB. Smith is aging and there's no one else behind him. Green fills a need and is brimming with potential. However, in a division where they face stud QBs Brees, Ryan and Freeman twice a year each, they may opt to go for the best pass rusher to counter that and take Bowers. It's a toss up and will come down to the new HC's philosophy and how they grade the prospects on their board. As for Denver, I can see them taking Peterson. Bailey is a free agent and since he's aging, likely will go sign with a contender. Peterson is considered the best CB prospect in quite some time and double as a top notch returner. Peterson is likely to sit atop most draft boards and if Bailey does in fact leave, it would be a foregone conclusion for Denver to fill a huge need with arguably the top prospect in the draft. That leaves Buffalo with options and choices. A trade down scenario could present itself and afford Nix the opportunity to gain a few more picks to build his team. If they stand pat, the Bills have their pick of the draft's top front-seven defenders. It'll come down to who they like best; Fairley, Bowers, Quinn? All three of these guys can play in the 3-4. Maybe Gailey falls in love with Newton, drafts him and has him sit a year under Fitz while he gets coached up to take over in 2012. We know Gailey loves mobile QBs and Newton possesses a big arm, mobility and is coming off a wildly successful season. It's good to have options and the Bills seem poised to have their pick of the lot regardless of how the draft shakes out in front of them.

Troup didn't play much, he's a rookie. DT is not an easy position to learn or play and the transition from college to the pros is tough. The Bills say they're a 3-4 put spent much of the season in a 4-3. It was a mess and it looked sloopy, naturally yielding poor results. Due to a lack of personnel, the defense struggled in its transition to the 3-4. I expect Nix to draft a number of defensive players who suit the 3-4 to further aid in the transition and allow the Bills to actually deply a base 3-4 defense. Troup has a lot to learn but he was a fantastic run stuffer in college and as this defense is built and shaped, he'll find his place and contribute. I'm not making any conclusions after only one season. As Nix and Gailey have gone on record saying, we're building for the future.
