  1. No surprise why it has become so common to see former early round "busts" re-ignite their careers 5-6+ years later once they gain maturity, better professional habits, experience and the game slows down for them. Sam Darnold, Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield, etc... And sometimes, they have to be put under good coaching to bring it out of them which was likely lacking on their previous teams since those teams are dreadful usually when drafting QBs high in the draft. Sometimes the players just take a little longer to become what they are capable of, but teams aren't willing to wait.
  2. That was a high low-concept the Bills ran on them---same one they ran with Davis and Beasley/Shakir a lot... Orlovsky breaks that play down really well, which I shared in this thread
  3. makes sense after trading Fitzpatrick.
  4. Some of it was little details...like on that long Henry run that he didn't score on and got tackled by Strong after like 50 yards...Henry was bottled up pretty good behind the line and then just found a tiny crease and once he did there was nothing there...a lot of this stuff can get cleaned up by details and McD hammering to the team to do their 1/11th and stop trying to over compensate for things.
  5. Said it was the best DT performance of week 1:
  6. updated post Ravens game - yardage update coming next
  7. As a footnote...while Lamar Jackson has blown the most 4th quarter double digit leads in NFL history, Allen has NEVER blown one.
  8. If our D is flawed what is the Raven's D with multiple all-pros, pro bowlers and 7 first round picks on it?
  9. Most of those people probably weren't even alive for that game
  10. I can't even imagine what it must have been like for the rookies and other players who are in their first season here to have THAT be their first NFL experience as a Bill.
  11. Then don't go to the game in the first place. Sit your ass at home and watch on TV and let people who want to stay the entire time go. Embarrassing look on National TV. We want to say we are the best fan base and set a standard then live up to standard. Don't be like the Ravens and fold when the stakes are highest.
  12. Just passed the 1 year anniversary of the last time Hill had a 30+ yard reception. The wall is closing in.
  13. Oliver was a beast last night.
  14. Even Fitzy is letting them have it...and rightfully so. They should all be forced to stand outside for 8 hours of community service on high traffic corners in WNY with signs that say "I left the Ravens game early. I'm sorry, it will never happen again."
  15. I mean how are they enforcing a ban when they don't check IDs?
  16. Speaking of Anderson...did we even run a single play with him in as the 6th OLineman yesterday? I don't remember them saying anything about him coming into the game and declaring himself like they normally do.
  17. They were in a 3 TE set.
  18. Shows inexperience from the participants, IMO, as how to go about it properly.
  19. Time on task. You have to live with the growing pains. No other way. Even Kyle Hamilton was not good for the first half of his rookie year and look at him now...
  20. I think by midseason this D will be much improved as they work the new players and younger players in and they figure out exactly what their role is on each play...more than any other, this defense relies on precision and technique and relying on players to be exactly where they should be at all times. That takes some time to build, especially when you have new players and pieces to fit in and figure out the best roles for them. Also, Hoecht and Ogunjobi could play pivotal roles down the stretch once back in the lineup after their 6 week vacation. They must be sick to their stomach they couldn't be a part of that game last night...
  21. That blitz from no man's land allowing that long Flowers completion was so bad...I have to assume that was on him and not by design...should have been creeping up slowly and on a dead sprint by the time the ball is snapped instead of standing there and then taking off towards the LOS post snap.
  22. I think we won't know how good this D is until the midpoint of the season or maybe even a little later...lot of young/new players that need to understand their role on each play and to do their 1/11th. More than any other team, the Bills rely on players playing with sound technique and being where they are supposed to be to have team success on D. Far too often, players weren't in the right place or trying to do other people's jobs yesterday. Plus 2 big pieces in Hoecht and Ogunjobi will be out for 6 weeks and would expect some serious improvement once they are inserted.
